Like I said in the reveal thread, I don't think this card would be added in Burn Mage just yet. The meta is very aggressive in wild and Medivh's Valet is more useful, because it can be used early on and kill the opponent's 1-, 2- or 3-drops. In the future though, if we see more mid-range decks popping up, Tempo Mage would immediately run it. Fireball on a stick is a scary combinaiton.

  • Idea for Genn and Baku Nerfs

To your question: no, it's actually the other way around. As you can see, we're just arguing from a different perspective.

You say that as long as perk exists, deck is repetitive.

I say say  as long as cards exist, deck is not repetitive.

As I mentioned, you keep reducing this down to a binary. Why? You've already conceded that pressing the button turn after turn is repetitive, so if that is the key distinction between these decks and others, how does it not follow that they're more repetitive than decks that don't?

If I take a glass of water and add a spoonful of salt, then whether or not you consider the water salty is subjective, but surely it is objectively more salty than the glass of clear water?

As for the nerf, they already performed killer nerfs in the past where necessary. Since they didn't, i doubt necessity is there.

Again, do you have any specific ideas on how these cards could be "killer nerfed" while maintaining their overall functionality? I don't. I suppose they could have given them an entirely new ability or condition a la Warsong Commander, but as far as i'm concerned an early rotation is tantamount to a killer nerf.

Your reasoning is also binary, on the opposite side, by exaggeration.

Salt was added to the water, but still drinkable. You are attaching the fact it is undrinkable by implying that salty is too salty. But that's your opinion. If we agree on not agreeing it is actually too salty, then your suggestions about diluting the water with more water are just a subjective point.

Let me reformulate this way: Odd/Even mechanic is slightly more repetitive than normal, yet not enough to deserve any sorts of alterations.

It's definitely not as repetitive as you depict it, by far.

There's still plenty of decision-making in the form of each card that requires to be played. And guess what? Odd/Even decks play the same number of cards as any other decks in the game.

As for the nerf, they could have applied a hand requirement, or reworking the cards entirely, to the extent of a battlecry and/or questlike.

Instead of Start of the Game, Starts in your hand. (1)/(0) 1/1, Battlecry.

Not a simple elegant nerf, it would have required multiple tweaks, but many options were possible, if they really wanted to. Point is any options that touches the core mechanic kills the potential deck consistency, hence kills the deck entirely.

We all know how a subtle nerf can greatly affect entire decks. And that's unnecessary for Genn/Baku themselves.

  • Tortollan Pilgrim

Until we see more strong mid- or late-game board clears for mage, I suspect Tortollan Pilgrim would be used in order to cast one specific spell - Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron. Casino Mage might not be competitive, but it would be fun to play.

  • Saviors of Uldum - 5 Pack Bundles Giveaway

My favorite card so far is actually Conjured Mirage. Not that I think it will see a lot of play or is very strong but it has such a unique effect making me really want to experiment with different ways to make it useful.

  • Quests

I've learned from Hero cards and Genn & Baku to be wary of anything that majorly upgrades hero powers (keep in mind no one had any issues with them until we actually got to play with them). Upgraded HPs can be well designed and make the game a lot more interesting, but they are easy to break and when there's 9 more being added it is not unlikely we'll all be hating at least one of them in a couple of weeks.

Still, for now the approach is at least interesting and appears to address a couple of the issues from previous HP upgrades (namely starting with them on turn 1 or coming alongside powerful battlecries).

  • Pressure Plate

The secret is really good against slow decks (with bunch of taunts) and Big Priest in wild. It puts the opponent behind on tempo. This can't be said for the aggro MUs though, because even if they do run some spells, you are most likely to kill a worthless minion that the strongest one.

How many fucking board clears and heals does a man need to draw just to stomp out the sheer cancer that are murlocs?!

Reno, Kazakus, Flamestrike, DK Jaina, Dragon's Breath, Explosive Sheep, and I still only won by the skin of my teeth. What the fuck is wrong with these inbred frogs? Why is Blizzard still shitting them out every expac?

They are more than a man, they are more than a fish!

Death will rise from the tides!

    They are MURLOCS

  • Uldum Rogue Quest Reveal - Bazaar Burglary

WTF another super easy broken rouge quest

You fucking cunts have done it again.

Should be 8-10 cards, 4!! are you taking the fucking piss

I actually don't think you can profit from a nerf if you craft it.  Because you'd spend X and then get X back from a disenchant, leaving you a net profit of zero dust.  The only real way to profit from a nerf is to open golden as you mentioned, then DE when nerfed, craft normal, pocket the dust difference.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear in my original post.

They synergies in such a disgusting way, I prefer magnetic and mega mechs to bloody murlocs

  • Activate the Obelisk

It'll take some time to find out how strong this really is but one thing is for sure; if there's a way to make it rock Zetalot will find it.

  • New Rogue Spell - Bazaar Burglary

I think people are overestimating how quickly this will be finished. It's 'easy' sure, but you still need to draw the cards that make it easy first, and it won't often be the case you have them all neatly on turns 2,3,4 and 5 (especially as the plan seems to be to play them on curve and none of them draw cards to improve the likelihood).

Realistically then, using the HP on turn 6 is optimistic, so we have to start asking the usual quest question: how problematic is the loss of a card in the opening hand against aggro? The answer here is unclear to me, so if the meta is aggressive enough the quest might still end up sub-optimal.

Having said all that, the fact it presents genuine competition for Spectral Cutlass in burgle decks means it is clearly very powerful in a long enough game. I still think the cutlass is stronger but the freed up deck slots, added reliability, and resistance to weapon removal probably swing it towards the quest.

  • New Priest Spell - Activate the Obelisk

Here's a possible build that I just threw together. I'm absolutely certain that this could be built better, but this is a starting point anyways.

  • Uldum Legendary Card Reveal - King Phaoris

    Quote From Aenarion

Seems powerful but not enough for what it should do at 10 mana.

It's good that it has bad stats for its cost ('cause Mage is a thing), since the other 10 mana legendary is quite broken if you get it from Conjurer's.

The bad thing though... if they Conjurer's and get this, they just cast it on him again from the Twinspell

  • How was your success with the new classic cards?

I was just searching to see if this thread existed because I personally haven't seen many of them at all.  And while I haven't been opening a ton of Classic packs lately, I had a few saved from past brawls after they said new cards were coming, plus a few more here and there from gold or quests.

I still haven't opened a single new Classic card from the recent patch.  Not even the common Druid card, Gift of the Wild.  In fact I still need a second copy of Call of the Void and that card's been out for a while now!

I've thought about crafting High Inquisitor Whitemane but I don't want to spend that much dust so close to an expansion, when she's not seeing much play right now anyway.

  • New Rogue Spell - Bazaar Burglary

Easy to fulfill,  reward, anti-synergies with Cutlass Tess Rogue.

  • Uldum Rogue Quest Reveal - Bazaar Burglary

My 3 damage ping for free is pretty good

  • What triggers for you the decision to buy an expansion?

    Pro

Well, the hype got me. I really like the new cards and unfortunately, a lot of the legendaries look appealing to me. I have will only have around 5k dust when the expansion hits and no dust left, so I guess I'll get myself a preorder. What also got me thinking were many people here stating the opinion that Uldum has the highest power level since K&C, so having most of the cards seems important to keep up with the meta.

  • Quests

It would be nice to open a golden one of these from a pack or from logging in - then there is a profit if nerfed as you say. But don’t anyone go crafting it golden in hope of a profit from a nerf...

  • Uldum Rogue Quest Reveal - Bazaar Burglary

Um, by the time you complete the quest it’ll be turn 8+ realistically.

  • The Burndown!

As soon as they told us what this brawl was going to be for the Fire Fest-EVIL week 3 I thought it sounded fun, but could end up just being one or two decks and nothing else.  Judging by the comments I'm seeing that is exactly what happened!

  • New Rogue Spell - Bazaar Burglary

oh my this wil result in burgle/lackey rouge spam ^^

  • Uldum Rogue Quest Reveal - Bazaar Burglary

Why you guys started doomsaying again? And how would they even nerf this? After collecting 4 different class card, how would equipping a 3/2 weapon be so op that it would be nerfed?

Blindly saying "cuz quest rogue durr hurr" is stupid.

As for the quest, eh, looks good but boring. Just like most of the cards in this expansion.
