I’m excited to see Murloc paladin, make a comeback. I love playing Arthas portrait and pretending after being defeated as the Lich King he gave up and decided to become King of the Murlocs.
with that said I really wish Paladin could get some better Murlocs. Right now Shaman has some AMAZING murlocs in standard, and even more in Wild. Paladin only has 1 good class murloc and it’s wild. (Not talking about spells)
Both seem very good to me. There’s not much to say about weapon.
Whirlkick Master on the other hand is similar to the play style of rogue the last expansion. It uses card generation over draw. I think this is ok because card draw options for rogue (other than myras, which is not that reliable imo) is not very effective. Also it is underrated that generated cards make it harder for your opponent to make hand reads. So I guess the card is good enough to see play
First off, I want to apologize to the admins for posting a hearthpwn link, but the OOC "collectible cards" page and its filter options aren't really user-friendly yet:
So in the link above you can see all combo cards available to rogue in standard (+ the newly revealed Hooked Scimitar). As much as I'm impressed by the card generation, I don't really think this card would fit in a miracle list. If your deck doesn't run pirates, Raiding Party is either a dead spell or an expensive tutor for one of your weapons. Kidnapper is slow (especially against aggro); Headcrack is only useful if the opponent is dangerously low on health. And Defias Ringleader and Cutthroat Buccaneer are kinda meh. The wild combo cards are mostly bad (with a few exceptions like Elven Minstrel, Vilespine Slayer, but the chances of getting those from all other possible options are few), so I don't want to talk about them. The rest of the generated outcomes are mostly good (when looking at Edwin VanCleef, EVIL Miscreant and Eviscerate), but only few of them are spells, so, again, I don't think that Whirlkick Master would fit in a miracle deck. She's more likely to clog your hand with mediocre or situational stuff.
I'm eager to know where people would run this minion. Thief can generate you a lot of defensive spells and you can heal yourself with Spectral Cutlass (weak too ooze, but at least this has some direct synergies with other cards), so a value deck wouldn't be better than the Burgle archtype. As far as tempo decks go - the popular standard rogue lists are Hooktusk and Tempo, both of which should be satisfied with the Lackey generation, because it's faster and the outcome from it is cheap. So where else you play this in?
No, Blizz, no! Why do you hate Wild so much?! Mage is allready one of the best classes in Wild (if not the best at the moment) and with these cards it will be busted. x_X
At least my Mage isn`t golden yet. Soon I will change this...
Seems a bit understatted to be honest. 3 mana 2/2 weapon is obviously terrible, but even as a combo you get a conditional waggle pick without the bounce. Not to mention the fact that rogue doesn't really want to be playing weapon cards due to the hero power.
Whirlkick Master (2): This card might look like crap at first glance, but it can became a game winning value generator. Only just one card from it is good enough, any more and ur set. Not to mention that the card pool with Combo is extremely small, even smaller when certain sets are out of the rotation, so you can consistently get very good cards out of it. I will admit, that it could potentially be anti-tempo play, but you could as well just get a card that can save your ass, and 2 mana "combo activator" that will keep the combo chain goin is not that expensive. Definitely not an early game card tho, that is for sure.
Hooked Scimitar (1): Amazing weapon for rogue. Shouldnt be hard to proc the combo most of the time. Can actually be a real scary to push 8 face dmg for just 3 mana in certain situations.
Probably finds a home in some kind of midrange Spirit of the Shark rogue, but not much else. I think other rogues would either prefer to gain their card advantage through Gadgetzan Auctioneer/Sprint, or simply don't have room for low tempo cards like this.
The reason they're an odd deck in the first place is for the 2/2 hero power. Adding a weapon kind of counters their own gameplan. Besides, with Hench-Clan Thug and Southsea Captain I'm pretty sure the 3 drop slot is competitive enough already.
This might see play in aggro rogue (wild) though, that deck already sees fringe play and seems pretty good.
In standard this also looks really good. A 4/2 weapon is nothing to scoff at, especially when it's only 3 mana.
Both of these cards look quite amazing actually. Combo pool is not that big either, not to mention in Standard rotation. You can consistently "draw" from a very small pool of cards. Interesting.
Very situational, it could be a finisher if you have murlocs on board AND warleaders/bluegills still in your deck, but at turn 8 you probably already won or have already played at least half of your murlocs; if you summon 3 to 4 murlocs with an average of cost 2 you don't get a lot of value from it.
I'm not worried about this card in standard but boy does it seem disgusting in the wild secretmage. Wide boards have always been a natural weakness of the deck... until now I guess. Even if the card turns out to be fine in terms of WR, I'm guessing it'll result in a lot of frustrating, unwinnable games where the mage can just lock you out of the game by sticking a flakmage and protecting it with secrets while clearing your board over and over.
Well, there are obviously far better hunter decks than this one, but the point was to make a highlander deck with the new cards and see if it could actually work or not :)
A standard aggro rogue would like it (not the current one, which runs Waggle Pick). But I am just curious to know whether odd rogue would put this in their decks, but I think the weapon would be too slow - you have to play a 1-drop (a Lackey, Pirate or a Fire Fly) and then the 4/2 blade, which becomes a 4-mana combo, but isn't rogue already satisfied with their upgraded HP?

I'm not really sure what to think of Whirlkick Master. It has a cool effect, but my gut instinct is that it's not all that great. Perhaps we'll see other synergies that will make it more compelling, but one of the things Rogues are never lacking is resources (from draw effects or burgle effects). Drawing a card from your deck is probably better than getting a random combo card (i.e. fewer than half of the standard combo cards see regular play), and the burgle cards have enough support to make them more valuable than random cards from your own class. Maybe this is a good source of resource generation in the late game where you can string these combo cards together all in one turn, but if the game goes that late you're probably losing to the classes that have Hero cards.
Hooked Scimitar seems like a solid weapon - kind of a Truesilver Champion for one less mana, and if you can get it down on turn 3 (maybe with a Preparation into some spell into Hooked Scimitar), it curves nicely into Blade Flurry on turn 4. (It's not exactly clear how often a Rogue would want to do a board clear on turn 4, but it seems like a reasonable tech choice against token decks.)

Turn 2 even, if you have The Coin.
New Shaman Weapon - Splitting Axe
It's not an awful card. It does cost too much though.
New Rogue Weapon - Hooked Scimitar
Totally fine card in a world where Waggle Pick doesn't exist. But Waggle Pick exists.
New Rogue Minion - Whirlkick Master
1-mana too expensive
New Mage Minion - Cloud Prince
Great card, but that Flavor Text... *chef kiss*
