I like it because it means we’ll see more totem synergy. Shaman has the worst hero power in the game and should receive some support cards to make use of.
Why would an Even Shaman run this at all? The deck is already happy with its Jade Claws and it doesn't have board buffs, so there is no reason for them to include this weapon in their deck. The card is also extremely weak. Not to mention, they don't really utilize totem synergies other than running a couple of minions, which get slightly enhanced by totems.
But I must agree with what ThatFinn said. If Flametongue Totem weren't nerfed, the weapon would have had good targets to multiply - Totem Golem, FTT, maybe Wrath of Air Totem (if you have a lot of burst and you want to burn the opponent as much as possible).
Turn 8? You mean turn 7 two times Arcane Flakmage + secret = Flamestrike. Except you also have 2 bodies and a secret up. Insane stuff! And decent stats so it can be played for tempo on turn 2, like a sorcerer apprentice. I think mage will get at least 4 viable decks, tempo/secret, tempo/spell damage, conjurer/cyclone/giant and freeze. And probably also some OTK stuff using galaxy spell/Jepetto etc. This makes mage much less predictable as opponent. Nice!
I mean...it's decent, but feels kind of weak considering the currently available totems (and how most of them are just 0-attack minions with minor effects).
It's cool if you do this with a Manatide or an Evil Totem on the board, but outside of that...I don't know
Splitting Axe (3): Interesting card, weapon is always good, but this is a kinda bad weapon just for the stats. The battlecry can be a an advantage or a disadvantage. Dream scenario is to copy something like Nightmare Amalgam on curve or Flametongue Totem, but copying your basic totems might not be what you want to do, if you dont have ways to increase their attack, they might just clog your board space. We shall see. Could make some insane combos with EVIL Totem to generate lots of lackeys, but probably not very often.
Extremely powerful for wild, especially because Iceblock is a thing, probably worth trying in Standard too.
I'm not sure if I like how they're seemingly printing cards that are essentially huge upgrades for Wild but have little existing synergy in Standard, but maybe there'll be more later on
Very strong card. Basically an extra fireball + body if you have a secret up. I am sure this will find a place in some tempo mage deck. But also control/freeze mage can use it as a removal tool. And elemental tag as bonus.

SoU Secret Mage [Theorycraft]
I immediately thought of this as well, but I think there is some bad synergy here with Mad Scientist and Masked Contender.
I would certainly play Aluneth and Stargazer Luna here. Maybe also cut the Secretkeeper's for a Frostbolt/Ice Lance package.
Something like this:

Possessed Lackey
This should be a 1/1 and it should have a Lackey tag in it. Just saying.

Good with EVIL totem I guess

This would be quite a lot better if they hadn't nerfed flametongue before they decided genn needs to go..
Might see some fringe usage but hard to see with current pool

Not really that good, you could get value from mana tide totem though.
