  • New Shaman Spell - Corrupt the Waters

The deck you mention is also a corpsetaker based build with almost 0 board presence. No wonder it might lose to aggro if it doesnt challenge the board with minions.

-as a side point that deck hit legend #1, you undermine your own argument that the bc shamans can't work with bringing it up as it clearly has good winrate to get to #1-

Last I checked late game jades are big, big jades have big attack and big attack means they have to be removed or they take big damage? Don't really understand your reasoning there. Having board presence is as good wincon as any. (And jadeshudders run loatheb just to have that similar single finisher)

Jades are good because you can use them throughout the game to challenge the board and thus not lose to minion based aggrodecks as fast -> you get needed answers. With comboshudder decks the problem is not that your deck doesnt have the answer, it's having that answer in your hand when you need it instead of some other cards.

But I quess we're not getting far here. In my opinion pumping 2 jades per card (or more) per turn is value and tempo that can't be matched by many decks. You're free to disagree and rely on stats (as you said from 2 months ago so they might be dated). I'll enjoy this card and the benefits it brings =)

  • Lack of control deck options?

I also made it to Legend with a Control Paladin.

I went with one Prelate , one mechanoegg one mechanicalwhelpling, and the Undertaker, to bring them all back over and over again. Unfortunately since the mech buffs , all Warriors run Silence, wich makes it very hard to beat Control Warrior, unless you can bait out their silence before you play the Undertaker

  • Lack of control deck options?

Unless you're willing to get creative and experimental, right now the control decks available are the ones that are available. You could experiment. I think Shaman is the best candidate for control experimentation right now.

I've found Nomi Priest to be kind of dull. I'm like, "Look at me! I can draw cards and clear the board!" It's almost like Nomi Rogue, which is like, "Look at me! I can take out your minions, slap you in the face, draw all my cards in one turn, and slap out a Chef Nomi!"

  • Dust cards on the opening pack screen?

I hate going though whole collection to do it.

  • Lack of control deck options?

Hi peeps, I love playing control decks, and it's really disappointing there aren't nothing but Warrior to go around with. Shaman is very unreliable, but still the second best option.

The bigger thing is, we now have aggro decks that are immune to fatigue or even mid-game pressure, thanks to cards such as Dire Frenzy. The latter is just nerve-wrecking, especially in the current meta where Hunter has viable discover cards & Zul'jin to repeat playing the buffed 1-cost lifesteal minions to no end. Such a weird design choice/flaw.

I'm happy Blizzard has been bringing up class identity, but what I'd like to see more is looking after diversity in deck types. I personally see no difference in playing against or with any of the tier 1 aggro decks (broadly speaking), so I've simply played less and less of the game recently.

I gave up ladder climb a long time ago, ever since I realized it simply means spending hours playing a tier 1 deck and the reward is puny: I've put money in the game so 400 dust is not enough of an incentive to me to undergo the mindless grind. But even finding the game enjoyable is pretty hard if you don't like top 3 decks.

Have any of you enjoyed any control or combo decks in Standard lately? I do like playing Shaman (with various Hagatha+Elysiana+Shudder builds), but the fact that Hunter is so popular right now just makes it a harrowing experience most of the times. If you're about to say "go Wild", I wanna add I sometimes dip over to Wild but personally I don't enjoy going back to all the poison we just got rid of in Standard (odd aggro decks etc).

Nomi Priest is pretty fun too, I might get seriously into that. But Control Warrior feels so played out at this point, as the matches are way too similar due to the ultra-dominant role of Dr. Boom hero.

  • What do you think of the card art changes?

Some of the changes were good, but most of them were just bad. Deadly shot was so iconic and how it's just bland.

The changes were done mostly for China's strict censorship rules. Blizzard already has three games under investigation by the Chinese dictato- government for Blood, Violence and Inharmonious Chat (not censored chat). These changes are just Blizzard prepping in advance for when it's Hearthstones turn under the microscope.

A lot of people also like to praise that these changes are good and making the game more "kid friendly". This game is rated T for TEEN, kid's aren't suppose to be playing this game and just to clarify what's allowed under the T rating:

    • Alcoholic References
    • Blood
    • Fantasy Violence
    • Mild Suggestive Themes

If Blizzard wants to censor their game for China then go for it, but please just make a China only client. If they don't then nearly half the cards are gonna have to be changed for their strict rules.

  • Reno Jackson Paladin or Mage?

They announced that Reno will be Mage (since he steals a lot and has presumably stolen some powerful artifacts and scrolls). Sir Finley is Paladin so there goes all the excitement I had for the expansion down the drain, o well.

  • Would you like to have an "open all packs" option?

The option would be nice, even though I won't be using it. I like opening each pack and there is a rush when you get a Legendary (gambling, it's just gambling). However I think the option for it to be there for those who don't like opening packs would be nice.

  • Let's talk about the new design of each explorer

Hello, fellas and fellasses. Today, I'd like to ask about your opinion about how the four members of the League of Explorers look in their newest versions.

Personally, I'd like to analyze them each, starting with

    The Best, Reno and Elise

What can I say? Reno looks perfect and in sync with what we know of his personality. He looks cocky, charismatic, I really, really think he is the best design of the four by far. Last we saw him was in Karazhan with... mixed opinions... mainly comparing him to a porno character. Here, I'll say Reno looks as much an explorer as he should, hands-down the more fittingly heroic and charismatic of the four. This version gets my thumbs up.

As for Elise, well, I can't say her design matches her previous personality, but I'll say I love it anyway. Who knows, maybe even the most negative, no-fun-allowed people become smiley when confronted by villainy? Besides, they made her even more beautiful than before, somehow. Maybe after 2 versions in the past we'll finally get an Elise version that smiles like her friends. No complaints here from me either.

    Brann

I have a more neutral attitude towards Brann. He looks younger, and admittedly better, of course. However... Why does he look like he wants to rip everyone's head off? Don't get me wrong, I still think he looks cool, just a bit... insane, I guess? It's not a thumbs-down from me, but maybe I am alone in this. Also, as I got the two pictures together, I just realized he looks a lot scarier and less friendly in his original art than I thought, so there's that. Still, if we take his personality into account, we know he isn't a psycho, right?

    Finley

Ugh... How do I say this? Finley looks... intellectually impaired? For a character whose gimmick is being the classiest and possibly smartest of his species (even if it isn't a hard thing to achieve), that is not a good thing. He no longer looks much like a gentlemanly explorer murloc, as much as a stupid murloc that happened to find a monocle and an explorer hat, like Murloc Tastyfin. I might get more infuriated than reasonable with his new design, but I haven't seen anyone else talk about this. Am I alone here?

So... that's all I have to say. Do you disagree? Is Finley actually the greatest visual update known to man and I just don't get it? Am I just terrible at reading cartoony facial expressions? Go right ahead and post your opinion.

Do we get 'Reborn' and 'Plague' card for every class or only the hero/evil class?

Reborn most likely for everyone, Plague cards only for EVIL classes, similar to Schemes in RoS.

  • A Case for an Unnerfing and Hall of Faming of Warsong Commander

Just wanted to say, as a relatively new (18 months-ish) casual player, that I really enjoyed reading your OP. It was a lovely insight into the early days and decks, so thank you!

  • New Shaman Spell - Corrupt the Waters

    Quote From ThatFinn

Quess my deck isnt then "shuddrwock shaman" as it deals with those matchups well. Imo reports like that arent the best to picture slower shaman decks as shaman is so versatile and can be built a myriad of ways.

You can run jades and shudderwock and call it a shudderwock shaman but you can have it be anti big priest with transform effects, aggressive midrange deck or anti aggro deck with ton of aoes and healing. All of those decks could be called jadeshudder decks with loatheb shudder finish but the matchups can change drastically depending on other cards.

Atleast for me control shaman has worked well with beating the occasional paladins, hunters, zoo, token druid, aggressive rogue variants and murloc + even shamans. Burn and some mage OTKs decks have still been problem but you hardly can counter everything.

Ofc the winrate isnt 100 or near it, but having a good winrate vs aggro and big priest is quite a good standing point in current wild metagame. Can be wrong about the card but its insta golden craft for me as it gives me brann to use any turn I want and currently those turns come often.

Except the Shudderwock shaman list in the meta report runs all the anti aggro cards that you mentioned: Healing Rain, Volcano, Hagatha's Scheme, Walking Fountain and Devolve. Additionally, it also runs Maelstrom Portal and the Corpsetaker package with Zilliax. So it runs the same anti aggro shell as you mentioned, if not heavier focused against aggro. Yet the results are as I mentioned in my previous post. Awful matchup against most (semi) aggresive decks.

Also, again, what do lategame jades do when there's barely any control decks out there. Why would you run them over an actual finisher like Shudderwock?

Do we get 'Reborn' and 'Plague' card for every class or only the hero/evil class?

  • Playing only a few classes

Something I’ve noticed personally during my time playing, most of the time when I disliked a class, it’s less because I didn’t like the class and more because I didn’t have the cards to make a deck I liked for it.

Since I had started I never really enjoyed playing Shaman, always got bored of it really quickly. But a few months ago I had opened a few legendaries for it that looked nice, so I went ahead and crafted Hagatha and ended up really enjoying the deck

ok thank you guys.  yeah i never played in my whole years much hunter( and wont do) the most wins i had on 1account on hunter were 100 wins). gonna disenchant cards from there for the time being i guess.

  • New Warlock Spell - Supreme Archaeology

    AliRadicali

Effort? Play 6 mana minion with solid stats, while controlling lackey (super good card on it's own)? It's more comparable to Shaman's quest, since you can easily finish it by just playing the game and doing your thing (you probably would have these 6 battlecry cards in your deck anyway).

Warlock's quest on the other hand, need heavy setup and a lot of luck (survive vs aggro, not draw your expensive cards too early, get your draw cards on time) and all that for what? It's not even a win condition, just small and random advantage (because you can as well get 0 mana cards that are useless in late game). It's like Nomi Priest, but much worse. Nomi isn't perfect either, because some decks can counter it, while Warlock has nothing to counter really. Playing 2 big dudes per turn in late game, instead of 1 dude, is far from being good. You would have to get it around turn 7-8 to make impact, but that's super random (depends on Plot Twist). And remember, after you finish quest, you will still draw 1 card per turn with normal cost (with rather limited card pool at this point), which makes whole reward even less profitable. Rafaam could be good, but it's 100% random.

As I said before, I believe Warlock needs more cards that benefits on drawing. Quest is not good enough to build entire deck around him.

  • A Case for an Unnerfing and Hall of Faming of Warsong Commander

I didnt read all that, but im fine with the idea of unnerfing warsong commander and moving it to wild. I would love if they unnerfed thinkmaster too so i can use it to counter mountain giants.
