  • [Game] Deck Doctor Challenge!

IMO, this would work a lot better on decks that Firebat didn't select.  I feel like that even if I didn't look at the video, I would make a lot of the same changes as he did on my own because they are just good changes.  It's hard to come up with stuff that's both good but not done already

Maybe look at the submission tweet and pick something you like from there instead?

  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

I only crafted golden Archbishop Benedictus, though it had less to do with really fucking loving Hemet Razakus priest but more to do with happening to need a copy of Benedictus and the fact that shuffling 20+ golden cards into my deck was pretty good value

I haven't made one because I like a card or deck yet.  I mean, if I like a deck, I should have a plain copy already and crafting a new copy feels bad.  Most good legendaries spend their time in hand and don't generate more golden cards either

  • New expansion announcement - how many gold do you have? Prepurchases?

So today will Blizzard probably announce the new expansion (see more here: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/150-are-the-league-of-explorers-taking-on-the-league-of-evil-expansion-teaser)

Also, it will be probably League of Explorers themed (more here: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/151-expansion-speculation-where-are-we-heading-to)

    I'm excited.

How many gold you saved yet for the next expansion (me - from daily quests like 4850 gold)

I believe we will get an update with the new cards for classic/basic sets together with the preorder for new expansion.

And what do you expect from the preorder? Will you preorder?

  • Quest: Rush to Reno While Taunting Garrosh's Beasts!

Your thoughts are well written, I salute you. First of all, if you consider surviving against Aggro, your Rush cards will trade off as soon as you summon/play them. Your Taunts will block them. Armor cards (Plated Beetle/Weapons Project) and Heal cards (Zilliax/Vicious Scalehide/Reno Jackson) are here to make sure you will stay alive. AOE cards (Warpath/Revenge/Brawl) will keep Aggro players at bay. Thus, this deck can be considered as Anti-Aggro deck and you will survive against them. So, on to your questions...

    Quote From Kapharna

-Why are you not using Town Crier (one of the best card draws in the game)? This mechanic lets you draw specific cards you need to survive your opponent's aggresion.

Aside from his tutor ability, Town Crier isn't good because drawing one card isn't satisfactory. I would use Battle Rage or Harrison Jones to draw more than one card. Next...

    Quote From Kapharna
-Untamed Beastmaster seems to only be worth the pick when played in combination with Countess Ashmore. Is that worth it? How many beast that profit from being buffed are still in your deck by turn 10 (using the combo)?

First of all, you can play the combo as early as possible via Emperor Thaurissan. Secondly, this combo is worth executing, here's why: Countess Ashmore draws every keyword minion individually. If you didn't draw these minions or shuffled back via Dead Man's Hand, playing Countess Ashmore will buff these Beasts as example:

    Next question is...

    Quote From Kapharna
-How quickly are you running out of steam? You seem to only be using card draw cards of 7 and 8 mana, with a maximum draw of 4 cards.

I might consider adding more card-draw options such as Battle Rage or Harrison Jones. Maybe I can pull out Weapons Project because it's here to destroy your opponent's weapon. As for your last question...

    Quote From Kapharna
-You are running quite some deathrattle minions and you could use a good board swing as win condition. As you are playing WIld mode anyway, every considered running N'Zoth, The Corrupter?

I'm running three Deathrattle minions and they aren't strong. So, N'Zoth isn't viable in this deck.

    Quote From Kapharna

Lets tweak this, Ill play the deck to tune this deck more, seems fun. Ill be back later :)

You are welcomed here anytime :D

  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

Ive crafted a few golden classic legendaries (Thalnos, Alex, Edwin and Leeroy), and at the beginning of an expansion ill normally craft at least one new leggo in gold (Lich King and Zilliax come to mind as good ones, Da Undatakah has been a whiff). Completely pointless I know, but they're so shiny! Must. Have. All. The. Shinies! Or something like that.

  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

    Quote From Chimera

Not a particular list but Rez Priest of any sort is probably my favourite sort of archetype, and when RoS released you can guess what card i immediately crafted and played with

    Oof big priest

  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

Yes, I crafted a golden Reno, Kazakus and mal'ganis for my renolock

  • Here's some art, make a card! [Legacy Game]

I hope I managed to accomplish the requirements, because I gotta admit they were pretty hard.

    Next Art:

    • Must be Druid
    • Must have Choose One or any differend version of it (ex. Choose Twice)
  • Have you ever crafted a golden legendary for a favorite deck?

I'm poor on dust and I still lack many good legendaries, so, golden legendaries will have to wait for very long!

  • Whats up with emote spamming?

    Staff

They are probably just trying to get on your nerves and have you misplay. Judging by the fact that you are here talking about it, sadly, they succeeded. You either have to auto-squelch everyone or just ignore it. If you start focusing on your opponent emoting, you will enjoy playing the game less eventually and most likely do a mistake or two down the line.

  • Baku Highlander Warlock

When you are ahead, your statement is correct. Otherwise, when you are behind, trading off minions and playing her afterwards makes sense. I believe I should cut out Whitemane for something good because conditional resurrections aren't that good when you think about it. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanx for selecting my deck :-). I did my fastest march from 10-5 with it.

  • At what turn is the crazy stuff allowed to start

    Quote From Zwane

So I hear a general consensus that if the crazy stuff is not too crazy. This means either that it happens at a turn that something can be done against it, or that crazy does not immediately ends the game in one turn. And you should design your deck so it can handle crazy. That's also called teching in cards to handle certain popular craziness. For instance, when rogues where killing you with their weapons, you tech in a weapon removal since otherwise you can't cope with the crazy rogue weaponry at turn 4-5-6. Now with all the magnetic craziness people tech for silence so your magnetized minion gets a little less crazy.

And basically, when stuff is so crazy nothing can stop it reasonably we then call it OP and in need of a nerf. So in fact its an important issue for HS, since we somehow want a "fair fight" and a "balanced meta" where more than two decks can live.

And this is all about standard. In wild crazy is the norm so to speak, that's why its called wild. But even here too crazy is not funny anymore witness the big priest problem.

Maybe also related to OTK decks: if your OTK deck would be a guaranteed certified win at turn 5, this would be a problem. A certified win at turn 13, not so much.

As far as the first part, basically yes.  There WILL be a point when your deck 'cant' be stopped' by the other deck, but the question is, assuming RNG was about even on both sides, was there a reasonable chance for you to turn it around before it got 'too far'.

You have to account for RNG btw.  RNG WILL screw you, or them, sometimes.  To not accept that is to question why you even are playing a RNG based card game.  Basically, you should be able to mark a loss due to either not making the correct choice (which doesn't always mean "you made a mistake" btw, just that there WAS a choice available, even if it wasn't one you typically would've made) or simple bad luck.

Note though that this is hte MATCH being fair, not the deck.  Decks SHOULD be unfair in some aspect.  Removing 20 mana worth of cards with 5 mana isn't fair.  Dropping 2 8/8s at turn 6 is not fair.  Drawing your entire deck at turn 4 is not fair.  'Not fair' is what makes decks ..well.. what they do.  What makes it fair is that I can find other unfair things to do to stand up to your unfair deck.

As far as the 'balanced meta'. I've heard a few people put it this way: a good meta will have about 3-4 Tier 1 decks, and a whole mass of tier 2 that can sometimes hold their own, and teir 3s that find niches, like countering 1 tier 1 deck but not the others.  The decks should also not be polarized, nor be completely 50%.  Advantages should give you a 10% bonus/weakness to your win rate, all else being equal.  That tends to be enough to make deck selection worthwhile but allow for tech choices/skill/RNG to shake things up.

Lastly, timing does NOT matter as far as 'guaranteed winning' is concerned.  We thought so years ago when decks won at turn 3-5.  When decks 'guaranteed won' at turn 30, we realized it still sucked, AND it was dull and boring as well.  Winning for sure if you just had the time means that only aggro decks can beat you.  and if they do, then you have a polarized deck (lose to all aggro, win to all control. See original Quest Rogue). If they don't, you have a truly OP deck (see Patron Warrior).

What matters is if the decks can, and must be flexible.  If RNG isn't on your side, or if both people are doing well in their strategy, or you make one move when you should've done another, you shouldn't instantly lose, but you should be forced to change your strategy to secure your win, or find a new win condition.  Whether that happens at turn 3 or 13, it should be a 'thing'.

How FAST that happens really isn't THAT big of an issue.  A 5 turn game where both sides are hustling like crazy to get their win condition met while stopping the other is MUCH better than a 30 turn game where one side is able to just run through a script and the other is just hoping they get VERY lucky to have a chance.

  • [Wild] Arcane Ritual Vargoth Mage

Your changes are fine, fit with the spirit of the deck.. I've already tried those too. Tbh the win rate is more or less the same.

The giants and conjurer are actually flexible spots.
In my list I use those cards just to get another alternative win condition, but with less means of survival.

Adding other survival cards improves your chance to stall the game until you get your combo, but you won't have any alternative win condition at all. Some players prefer this approach because they feel it gives the deck more consistency.

Some notable cards to fill in the spot:
    - board clears: Doomsayer, Volcanic Potion. Doomsayer is particularly good coupled with Freezing Potion
    - freezes: preferably the low cost ones. You're on the right direction here. The low costs complement Mana Cyclone very well.
    - debuffs : Polymorph, Ironbeak Owl.

Regarding Mad Scientist, the card is there to consistently pull Ice Block from the deck. For me Ice Block is the MVP of the deck. If you play wild often, the card is a safe craft, useful in many secret based decks used by Mages, Paladins, or even Hunters. You should give it a try.

  • Plans for "Your cost"?

    Staff Pro

It'll be implemented when you have the ability to store your collection on the site. I don't have an exact estimate yet, but it's one of our high priority core features so we shouldn't be too far off.

Ideally, I'd like to see it before the next expansion launches.

  • Plans for "Your cost"?

    Hi, hello!

Just a quick question (since I couldn't find the answer on the forum)...

The "Your cost" field in the deck view – what are the plans? When will we see the function, how will it work?

This is, in my opinion, the most important feature on a hearthstone deck site. It is the biggest reason why I use hearthpwn and if outof.cards gets a similar function I'll definitely use the site more.

  • Which was the hardest Deck ever to be played in Standard ?

I would definitely go with APM priest too, even though it was actually a meme deck. This deck needed a cheat sheet while learning it and it was so fun when you could pull of the combo.

PS: I know the OP didn't ask, but I play wild mostly, so I felt like talking a bit about that too. In that context, I would confidently say Kingsbane Mill Rogue (before the leeching poison nerf), or any mill rogue for that matter. In that meta you had to deal with pre-nerf Even shamans, Odd paladins (with level-up) and odd rogues. So hard to survive (when you could die by turn 5 some times), but also so rewarding when you could have built a large weapon and hammered the face while clearing boards with vanish etc. Moreover, it kept Big Priest, Reno Lock, Jade and Togwaggle Druid in check. You could say that it was a tier 2 deck, which in the right hands was a tier S deck.

  • Whats up with emote spamming?

    Hey.

What's the go with people spamming the WOW button, or the Well Played button after every single card I play?

They are also the ones that usually end up losing the match 99% of the time.

Are they former COD players and this is their version of smack talk?

It seems so odd to me.

  • Which was the hardest Deck ever to be played in Standard ?

It depends a lot on the match-up. For example, playing Big Spell Mage vs aggro was easy: mulligan for removal, hope you draw DK Jaina in time. But vs control you had to figure out whether you would be best off taking it to fatigue or not, how many threats is enough to bait out removal, how to pace your own board clears, which cards to dump when your hand got too full etc, while every turn trying to set up for creating a Water Elemental that turn and/or the next. Probably not the hardest deck ever, but the difference in difficulty per match-up was huge.

Any kind of miracle deck is tricky, since you cannot plan your entire turn ahead when you're drawing or generating cards at every step. Rogue is most famous for this of course, but Lyra in Priest and currently Cyclone and Luna in Mage are similar.

  • Suggestions for a new wild player

Burgle/Steal Rogue is different every game and there are different ways to build the deck: use Spectral Cutlass or not, Academic Espionage or not, only a few pirates or a lot of them etc.

Another Rogue deck that stands out for me is Dane's Big Rogue. While it contains a lot of legendaries, you might have some of the oldies already if you played until GvG.

Other favorites of mine are Even Warlock and Quest Druid.

  • Guys, Warlock is so bad right now

Priest is far from boring at the moment. I've played Nomi, Star Aligner, Clone and Clone/Buff Priest in recent weeks. They're not top-tier, but not terrible either.

I think having fun with Warlock is a lot harder in Standard at the moment. There is always Zoo of course, but that's not terribly exciting. Plot Twist was an interesting idea, but a lot of work for too little pay-off. I've been playing Demon Handbuff recently and got a few wins vs Warrior (might have been lucky they either didn't run Brawl or didn't draw it), but buffed minions that can't attack immediately are just too inflexible vs rush and magnetize.
