Last season I was not able to reach my goal (rank 5) so I started 2 ranks lower this month. However, I'm climbing pretty easily with Galakrond Zoo Warlock, maybe I was lucky with the matchups (only encountered 2 rogues so far). So I expect to reach rank 5 in my next session (hopefully today).

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I wonder if anyone has tips or faced the same problem.
In short: I lost my emailadress and don't remember with what name I made my hearthstone account, thus blizzard doesn't want to help me recover my account.
Last week I had to confirm my account with my emailadress and it turned out I lost this account. It is blocked and I can't provide enough information to outlook to recover it. I turned to blizzard and had to give my name (and afterwards probably birthday etc.), but turned out I gave up some bullshit answers 5 years ago when I made the account. I've got plenty of other information to prove it is my account (bank statements, screenshots and they can probably see from what computer I played), but it seems that is not enough.

I play daily, have a pretty complete collection and put some money in it, so obviously I want my account back. Do you have some tips for me in this position or have had the same problem? Please let me know.

A small update has been pushed to the site that focuses on search improvements. Thanks to Trimutius for asking for this over on Discord! (You should totally join us on Discord if you have not yet =) )

New Features

• Smarter Search
  • The default functionality of site search has changed so that it will lookup cards for the part of the site you are currently on.
  • If you are on a Runeterra page, or were on a page that doesn't have a "game" associated with it and were previously on a Runeterra page, you will see results for Runeterra cards.
  • Hearthstone pages get results for Hearthstone Cards
  • Magic pages will get results for Magic Cards (when available).
  • The default if you have no game selected is to search by the forums.
  • This also implements Runeterra Cards and Runeterra Decks into site search. It was absent due to an oversight.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue where search was displaying forum threads oldest -> newest. It is now correctly newest -> oldest.
  • Dev Note: We'll eventually need to find a good way to make search show better threads at the top.

Introduction

It was purely by chance that these three factions would cross paths at this mysterious island. I mean, take a look at these goodies! The lost city of Uldazir, completely untouched, and untapped? Well, mostly untapped. Ignore the native Trolls that worship this old abandoned technology, and the ever-growing army of Nagas amassing just on the other side of the island. Beyond that, the island is mostly untouched! Who knows what could lie in this metropolis-turned-Catacomb. Something to fill the Bligewater's Cartels coffers for decades? Never before seen Titan technology to archive the existence of in the Scryer's endless Archive's?  Who knows? After all, it's just a coincidence that all these armies converged on this one island... Right?

Themes and Mechanics

This expansion doesn't have a new keyword. Instead, it has an all new minion tribe—the Construct! These Construct lied dormant for a millenia, but they've been reawakened to meet these new foes in the halls of Uldazir! Constructs are weak and unimpressive at first, but have synergies that buff the Constructs that come out after them to overwhelm your opponent with giant, undefeatable minions.

Hero Power synergy makes a return. The trolls on the island have various idols and traditions, and gather strength from rituals that involve them honoring their fallen heroes. There will be various ways to trigger your Hero Power, and several minions will get bonuses every time you use your Hero Power.

With The Tel'Abim Anomaly will bring back the Tri-Class mechanic. The Mages, Priests and Warriors belong to The Scryers, and they will be one classes that focus on reactivating and harnessing the power of the Titanforged Constructs on the island. The Hunters, Rogues and Shamans belong to the Bilgewater Cartel, who have funded the operation of this motley crew of Pirates looking to plunder more than any Pirate has ever plundered before. and the Druids, Paladins, and Warlocks belong to the third faction, and they will all have a focus on Menagerie-like effects. Each faction will have 1 Rare card, and 1 Legendary card.

• You can now rate news articles.
  • Dev Notes: I'm not sure how well this is going to go. I feel like people are going to downvote stuff because they don't like it even if it is quality content. If we find that to be the case, we may get rid of this since it looks awkward to have articles with low ratings and it may detract viewership. We'll see!
  • Article ratings are found at the top of articles, on the byline.
• Magic Portal is now live.
  • There isn't much on it yet, but it is using some improved tech that will later be applied to HS, Runeterra, and other games.
• Forums are now game aware.
  
  • Game portals will now only display forum threads from forums that are from that game.
    • Do note that non-game forums such as off-topic and site feedback and support also display here.
    • Due to the non-game forums display, you may occasionally see a feedback thread for a game that isn't the one that you're on the portal for. There isn't really a way around this unless we made feedback forums for each individual game - not happening.
• Additional portals are live for Eternal & Mythgard.
  • Do note that these are very early in development and we are not yet committing to regular news updates.
  • We will have some additional features on these portals in the future that will make greater use of the forums and the upcoming guides feature.

I went to change my avatar and noticed that in the sentence "An image that represents you displayed on content you create. You should use a square image!" there isn't a space between "an" and "image" so it reads "animage". Not apocalyptic or anything but just an error I noticed.

Are there any plans to make this section only show Hearthstone forum posts when you are on the Hearthstone portal? Introduction

This expansion features the keyword Plot. Spells with Plot take up a space, similar to Secrets and Quests. At the start of your turn, the Countdown of the Plot reduces by 1. When it reaches zero, the effect triggers! Every single class Shamans are too busy with their experiments to plot  has a Plot that will change the course of the game.

About the Creation

     Hi there! Most of you probably have seen me elsewhere at one point or another. I, Phoenix (or just Nix), have been designing cards for Hearthstone over three years. I prefer quirky explorations of mechanics over flavor and lore. I'm a current moderator of the Hearthpwn.com and have recently has moved towards posting in r/customhearthstone.  However, I enjoy and favor the articles of outof.cards over any other Hearthstone information source. I'm excited and expectant for outof.cards to begin their own series of card creation competitions and help this community progress together in card designing.

     This particular set was originally a large series of cards that was awkwardly jumbled together and called an expansion. It wasn't nearly 100 cards later did I decide to add in a keyword. Each Class features a different method through which a secret underground information operates. For example, Hunters are "hunting" for clues, while Paladins are corruptly laundering money. Warriors just want to beat people up and Priests are busy predicting the end of the world. Combined, the classes (minus most of Hunter who are looking for 'em) make up the Syndicate of the Mourning Sun. Personally, I'm not too happy about the way the set came out. A lot of mechanics and lore feel forced and disconnected. I dislike the boring implementation of the keyword Plot and certain cards seem to be just a few feet too many off the deep end. However, I currently lack the time to enforce many of my dream changes, so this is the final creation.

After all my complaining I have made it to rank 5 for only the 3rd time in my time playing. I have horrible short term memory due to head injuries. I used E Druid and a Galakron Warrior with Bomb package to get there (Bomb Warrior is my all time favorite deck)

Hello folks. I'm much interested in this game but didn't join closed beta, so I'll start with Open. Got a couple of questions :

- Is Karma any good ? From what I saw she's the closest from my favorite playstyles (random value generation such as HS burgle rogue, ramp decks such as most shadowverse Dragoncraft decks, midrange/control decks). I don't expect top tier stuff, I just wanna know if I can mess with her without expecting abysmal results.

- Same question for Jinx (Self Discard mechanic, mostly. And madness. Because eh. Madness.).

- How is the ingame currency earned ? I hate both HS and Shadowverse systems because they tend to focus on winning, which can really quickly get infuriating when you're playing a slow deck (also often harder to play than the faster counterparts).

- Can you expect to build a full deck within reasonable playtime ? I usually play 2 class at most in a CCG (since LoR is "dual classes" with regions I expect to play from 3 to 4 of them). I'd prolly be satisfied with 2 serious deck and 3-4 meme decks.

Anyone else feel this way?  The Ramp Druid/Res Priest is awful to play against.  A monkey could pilot those decks. How hard is it to throw Taunt minions out every turn that have reborn and regne health?  Its ridiculous....done with it.  Battlegrounds if I play at all.

I'd like to hear from people who participated in closed beta - how close / far from complete collection do you feel it seemed possible to be as f2p, or how much of it can you hope to get with your estimation of time needed.

How did this random Champion in Vaults 10+ in closed beta helped that, and in contrast not having it would hurt collecting cards going forward. Thanks.

Thing is, if I can't get considerably better collection % over HS, which of course had a head start of years getting cards, I don't see myself breaking the time commitment of past for something that doesn't get better elsewhere.

I know there are different factors, enjoying gameplay / deckbuilding in broadest possible sense, but if I see myself enjoying both, this would be the decisive factor.

I have been playing for about 2 hours and I am having a hard time understanding the attack/defending and what goes towards damaging the nexus

For example:

I have a 5/5 and I am attacking a 2/3

My 5 attack will beat the opposing players 3 defense with +2 spare.

Does the +2 above the opposing player's card not deal damage to nexus?


To confirm with the scenario above.  Is the only way to deal damage to the enemy nexus requires you to have more cards on the field than the opposing team so the "extra" cards attack the nexus directly with the attack/defense only localized to the opposing card?

I got 7 wins in my first trial. From everything I can find it seems like the second trial is simply a redo and your better result is counted, but has anyone come across that not being the case? (eg. Trial 1 6 wins, Trial 2 5 wins giving a higher reward than Trial 1 7 wins, Trial 2 retire). I like exhibition but would rather play constructed as I find it more fun, so I don't really want to play the second trial if it's for no benefit collection wise.

Hello everyone, I'm back with another concept. I came up with it a while back when I was writing this article giving a brief outline of different ways that Hearthstone could be played. If you've already read that article, or have just read it, this is the Pyramid Format with a new, more fitting name. I made another post that outlined what a Tournament Mode in Hearthstone could/should look like. The visual aids I put in that were well received and I did the same for this post because it kind of help solidifies it instead of it being left up to the imagination. There are notes of self identified issues that I'll address and if you guys have gotten to know me at this point, I'm always open for constructive criticism, discussion, and exploration to improve upon my designs. Don't hesitate to tell me what you think.
So let's get started.

High Arcanist Thalyssra has entered the Tavern.
Unbeknownst to many, she too is a fan of Hearthstone.
She has set up her own table and is eager to show everyone her own dynamic rule set.
For winning 5 games in the Explorer Format for three consecutive months, this Mage hero portrait will be awarded.
Of course, right when I finished making this whole thing someone data-mined the new mage that might be coming.

Hearthstone greets us with music, background noise, and of course it's cheerful dwarven announcer, Harth Stonebrew.
From the cinematics we also get a wider cast of characters such as Ava, Velaris, Malto, and Lou to name a few. 

Bob the Bartender has become a staple character in the Hearthstone universe over the last year and his implementation in Battlegrounds is definitely a welcomed fit into the game other than being tied to the Adventures in the Year of the Dragon.

I thought I'd introduce a new character, Thalyssra, to be the voice of the Explorer Format, as Bob is the voice of Battlegrounds.
I'll give you some example of some possible dialogue she could have through the year.

Once a player has met the criteria to play in Explorer, Thalyssra will ask them to go to their collection to get started making an Explorer decks.
Coming up with a name for this format was a challenge, it has to fit, you know?
I thought about what players would actually be doing when they play this format.
I thought "Players would be exploring possible cards interactions, new deck synergies, and strategies when staple cards are gone."
Thus the name, "Explorer".

Changing the format of your deck is as simple as switching from Standard to Wild and vise versa.
You just click the button and bam, you're making an Explorer deck.
Complete with it's own section in the Collection manager.

I had to use the art from the wild section since I'm not an artist and I don't own Photoshop.
Gimp helped out quite a lot though.
Essentially the Explorer pages will have a page color and hero border.

The beginning of the Standard year should mark when this Format starts.
This Format uses every card from every set including Basic, Classic, and HOF.
When expansions are released, those cards will be legal as well.
Depending on how much they're played, determines how fast they get moved out of the format.

As the Arcanist said herself, cards will become illegal as the year goes on.
Each month a set percentage of cards will be removed from the format based on Win rate.

"How many decks contained this card, and how often did those decks win with this card in it?"
In other words, if say Acolyte of Pain is being ran in most/every Explorer deck, it will be banned next month.

The format will have its own icon, I landed on a little book.
I kind of felt as the year went on, Thalyssra would write down what cards are legal or not.

This format will have its own ranked ladder to keep players invested into a meta that changes every month.
This will help keep players engaged when either the meta is stale, typically at the end of an expansion right before the release of the next.

And let's be real here, most players want the golden hero portraits

At the beginning of each month, after you've been rewarded your Ranked rewards, you will be presented with this screen.
Thalyssra will show you the top three most game winning cards from the previous month and state that they've been banned.

She will also tell you that other cards have been banned as well.

Once you open your collection manager and switch over to the Explorer format, you'll be able to see exactly what cards have been banned.
They have that nice red tape around them to indicate that they are no longer allowed in Explorer.

The Explorer decks you've made will likely be unplayable because they most likely lost a few cards.
If you're playing a meta deck within that month, chances are that most of it will be banned.

None the less, it's time to either craft a new deck, or find replacements for the cards that were removed from yours.

Now of course when you're making a deck you might want a toggle to see what cards are and aren't banned.
So bam, another button.

Make a deck with what's offered to you and get back on the ladder.

When the new Hearthstone year comes, Thalyssra will reset the format. Undoing all of the bans of that year.

Things will be the same as they once were during Month 1 of the previous year.



Criteria, issues, solutions, math, and outcomes.

Criteria

Earlier I stated that players would have to meet a certain criteria in order to play in the Explorer Format.

I said that because players need to have time to amass a collection to even be able to make a somewhat viable deck in Explorers.
Let alone be able to play after a couple of Ban Waves.

I think if players were to reach level 50 with each class, they should have somewhat of a collection to play with.

Issues

Probably the biggest issue with the entire format is that people dust their cards.

People who have been playing for years, and maybe even since launch probably already have dusted useless expansions.
Let alone their entire Wild collection if they're dedicated only to Standard.

On top of that, if those players, and new players can't afford to buy packs with actual money or gold, they're locked out of an entire part of the game.

Solution

Wild packs are available on the in-game store again, so that's a plus.

The only solution I can think of to help players with limited collections is to make Whizbang the Wonderful and Zayle, Shadow Cloak Evergreen cards in Explorer.
Also to add any cards that are similar to those into Explorer's Evergreen set.

Math

After Galakrond's Awakening there will be a total of 2,290 playable cards in Hearthstone.
My initial plan is to only ban 10% of the best cards each month. This is what it will look like though the year.

2,290 - April (Expansion release day) + Expansion cards
2,061- May
1,854 - June
1,669 - July
1,502 - August + Expansion cards
1,352 - September
1, 216 - October
1,095 - Novemeber
986 - December + Expansion cards
887 - January
798 - February
718 - March
646 - April (Up until the format resets with the new year)

That's the math of the first year.
The math may have to be played with in case the number of cards becomes so low that it's impossible to make a 30 card deck.

Outcomes

I see a lot of F2P's resenting the format, that they can't really play it unless they use Whizbang or Zayle.
I get it, it probably feels really bad, maybe one of you can come up with an additional solution?

After multiple years it might feel samey, but I think the introduction with new expansions through the year as this goes on will help it feel fresh all year.

So there's another long winded, thought out way to introduce something new to Hearthstone.
As I said in my Tournament Mode article, if we stay vocal about new ways to play and what we want, we might get something like this.
