If anything the new version of the card back should be golden/better to distinguish the new players, as it looks like we will need to work hard to get it (1500/15000 HP Nefarios WAT)

Certainly harder than just sitting on your @$$ and logging in at the right time.

If I can manage to get pass all the bosses listed above I will feel offended that I could be confused with just one of the "veterans".

There are more places (try tesl.blog for deeper strategy discussions and what seems like pro-player interviews), but the ones I listed before looked like the most active, and were the only ones I could find in about a month of looking.

Some areas are not totally up to date like cards databases, and I wish the purchasable decks lists were posted somewhere but that's a good start.

TESL fills the boring gaps for me when I'm fed up with the meta on HS or waiting for something to happen.

I must say it didn't happen much since January, Blizz are good at keeping us entertained with the big rotation and the unexpected buffs!

In comparison TESL seems pretty active: quarterly sets, monthly reward cards, mandatory nerfs (since they don't seem to like the idea of rotating any content, YAY!).

Some days I'm not sure which is the side card game to which, especially as I'm more from a Cyrodiil background (TES since Morrowind) than Azeroth (only played WCI-II-III) for "big" games.

Edit: today is one of these days: I finally hit my legend pity counter (40-50? that RNG absolutely hates me) in HS with a crappy secret paladin card

...compare this with TESL where aside from the brand new set packs, I received the awesome Blood Magic vampire legendary as a daily reward (one legendary a month, my first one!: it cheered me up for the rest of the day when HS let me down!

    Competition is good.

I may be wrong but I assume there will need to be some software patch/update before the new cards are effectively introduced, and may be opened out of a pack.

One of the main factors for me was the "first-10 packs Legendary" rule...

With that said, I started HS in the new year after Rastakhan so my only wild cards were from the last rotation (and I do miss them SO much), so I decided to get lots of unique cool cards and 4x80% rolls at having new legendaries + C'thun et al, and jump in fully into the wild side

I have not opened any pack yet to not mess up my pity timer which is imminent...DAMN YOU RNGesus.

But when the time comes I will take my time and sip them like an oooold wine.

    YMMV...

I joined less than a month ago and also completed the intro mission, the other adventures are great and reward with good cards, and can be purchased with in-game gold (à la LoE).

TESL community is active but not as obviously as the HS one...the best site for news seems to be legends-decks.com.

Also the Reddit community seems pretty active, especially as there's a new set coming out TOMORROW (Elsweyr)!

The game itself is very fun and feels familiar...I'd call it Advanced HS: same foundational rules plus extra cool stuff.

I love the purchasable decks and card collections (again with gold), and the game constantly pouring rewards is refreshing when you compare with HS!

I now split my time between both games: both have their qualities.

HS is more fun and pick'n play, TESL allows for more tactics with Prophecy/Alleys/Magic-style mechanics and the combination of 1, 2 or 3 colours which is WAY MORE POWERFUL than just pigeonholed specialised classes with  hero powers...especially in the wake of the recent "Class Redefinition" by Blizzard.

Obviously there are imbalances and crazy OP cards combos etc (Just discovering the infamous Rage card)...well who can throw the first (hearth)stone? Certainly not HS. And I find the meta very diverse, with basically 5 basic, 10 double and 10 triple colour combinations, there's something for everyone.

I personally picked a pair of colours I liked, then I revolve around them and combining them with a third for different flavours and results.

I only bought one thing so far which was a special daily deal for the whole Brotherhood adventure plus some packs...I was planning to purchase all chapters gradually but it saved me some grinding. I wanted to play a pilfer/slay assassin type game (both mechanics that are _mostly_ unknown to HS- basically pilfer is reward for hitting the face and slay is reward for creature murder) so it gives me a head start and I find the adventures replayable and challenging!

Dust (soul gems) is also pretty abundant (you get some just by training for instance), and it shocked me that when crafting, a Legendary= 3 Epics which is awesome and would make more sense in HS. Since there are more cards in TESL than HS though, deck building is closer to MTG and unique cards get diluted in a 75 tri-colour game.

Also Legendaries can be non-unique. And there hasn't been a rotation yet (I hope there never will be one!).

I'd say save your gold for adventures or ready-decks which will give you a head start and allow you to play.

I hope for HS and TESL to influence each other for the good things and keep the CCG evolution going.

<3<3<3<3 I just love them all!

Absolutely meta-defining, all of them...now that's going to rock HS and rebalance some classes!

MMhh now Whitemane or Catrina? Both!

Hey I like doing  that too!

I tried experimenting with direction and number of turn but it does not seem to make a difference to the quality of the packs I open...

Also, leaving on a victory especially in the morning, keeps my mood up for the day.

I'm bored of having dust triples with RoS...time for some brand new cards to play with my oldies!

I joined a couple of months before the 2019 rotation so I just have enough wild cards and decks to miss them.

I sincerely hope they add some more wild modes one day!

Do you have an hour to play against YAFW? Nope? Then concede.

Even on the other side I get bored of playing Warrior...although even with the boring hero power, I must admit the OP cards feel..well..powerful? But so predictable and repetitive...

Warrior seems to have an answer for everything (for cheap in mana), it's just a matter of having the right card at the right time.

    RNGesus giveth and RNGesus taketh...

Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win, you will generally end up being one side or the other of the good luck.

Just breathe, keep playing until you get luckier...don't stop on a lost game (I feel very energised on the days I start by thrashing an opponent!).

I personally feel far worse when I lose due to my own mistake than due to bad luck...it's a game much closer to poker than chess...skill matters but luck applies VERY much.

Likewise in some cases I felt the victory was too easy and I got lucky or the opponent was beginner/unlucky.

The whole game for me is about factoring luck, and crafting a deck is all about controlling luck and minimising its effects.

I would love a format between Standard and Wild, something like an All-Stars mode, but more regulated with only the most broken cards/combos banned: random weekly "out of ban jail" picks maybe? Or maybe whichever card combo allowed #1 Legend each week would be banned for a year.

I also love the coop "2 players vs Boss" brawl this week, maybe that's an easier compromise to implement than 2v2 players (what are the odds of one player lagging the whole game?)

    That's a brilliant idea!

Also one could imagine an adventure to receive dust (puzzles?) or to duplicate an existing non-Legendary card.

I've been playing a fair bit of TES:Legends during the mobile buff outage, and it offers tons of ways to get goodies - gold packs cards or dust (daily login, rank progression, daily quests, adventure choices, etc.).

I only ever managed to pull the Star Aligner effect during that brawl where cards costs where decreasing every turn.

I always found it extremely hard to combo but....boi when it happens!

Not won with it yet, but I manage to lose partly *because* I had it in my hand.

Playing against a Thief Priest, who milled himself faster than I did, then used Madame Lazul when I had 3 cards remaining, discovered and stole it from me...

    Well played! (facepalm)

Just learnt the hard way that this can pull Bomb, which are annoyingly costed at 5 mana...

I personally used Jepetto Joybuzz with success so far, it helps pulling wabbits (and pre-buff, it gives them a 1-mana discount).

It can also help get a discount on Spirit of the Shark, too.

I found Daring Escape better value than Vanish, especially since the Prep nerf, although I may keep a single Vanish.

Also, why no Pandas? Especially the smaller ones are great value and cannot be drawn by Pipers any more post-buff .

Finally, one Augmented Elekk won't hurt either, considering it's got a good body.
