This will for sure be a reoccuring thing if it‘s well recieved by the community and i bet my ass that those two will join the standard crew weeks before the new highlanders rotate spring 2021.
Ranks in hearthstone are tricky by nature because they are not deck specific. You can be below average f2p and still grind that one Tier 1 deck you spent all your dust savings on.
This has two downsides. First, you are fucked when you deck gets nerfed. Second, everybody gets quickly at least one good deck together and that’s enough to win against every meme or basic deck. There is not much room between a fresh new player and a noob that is 3 months in but managed to craft a powerfull deck.
Conclusion: if you want to play ranked, you need a powerfull deck. Don’t go to war with a stick. Lack of diversity goes hand in hand with F2p.
I‘ll add some criticism here. The similaritys to Dalaran Heist are huge (as expected). I don’t talk about the final bosses, they are great!
They added tons of hero powers, treasures and passive abilitys to explore and that surely is fun. But at the same time, all of it feels irrelevant. You can beat half of the bosses without any hp‘s being used. The treasures are mostly giant value or tempo generators in different forms and colours. The friendly inn-counters are pretty much the same. I didn’t even percieve the dual class aspect.
Allthough many larger and smaller details are different, it certainly feels the same for me.
Don‘t get me wrong, i don’t expect them to reinvent the wheel but the cost is not justified. Lock the content behind HARD challenges and sell bypass keys or something to satisfy activision.
Now it feels more like a fancy way to buy 12 overpriced packs, spread over 4 weeks wayyyyy after release when most crafting has been done.
The bossfights are great! I love the feeling of progression when you go through the differnet phases, fits right into my newly found wow classic obsession. They created some very unorthodox situations there.
Killed both on the first try but i guess i got a little lucky. Looking forward to heroic!
Plague of murlocs died to tons of murlocs from Finnley :P my little guys were poisonous though, great combo!
Plague of madness was a little dull. The „discover a battlecry card“ heropower paired with double battlecry was infinite value against allmost infinite removal
Did you know that the dinosaure in the Brann matchup of this weeks tavern brawl is vulnerable to poison?
I had the cloak bonus, so all cards cost half and played Worthy Expedition into Wardruid Loti with poisonous and stealth on turn 1. On turn 2, I attacked and killed the dino - game won!
He could even have died on turn 1 if the random attack did not hit face :
Oh damn .. Well so be it then. I‘m level 10 by now and don‘t want to go through all this stuff again just yet. But since i have no real goals, leveling slowly is totally fine. Running around for quests 90% of time anyway
Playing wow for the first time! I just wanted to experience the crowded servers, building community and explore the world. Maybe even encounter some characters from HS, that i love!
I picked an ork warrior but i allready regret being mele... Can‘t reach the boars quickly enough.
I doubt i ever will get to the point of playing raids and stuff but who knows
There is a core issue with new heropowers at the start of the game. In the early turns, you don‘t want to press that button because it‘s a tempo loss. Hence, there is no point in getting a different but balanced heropower at the start of the game. For the effect to be worth it, the new HP has to be relevant and then we‘re back at the Genn/Baku issue - consistant and identical tempo push in the early game.
It‘s basicly impossible to balance those effects. One more damage or one more health are insanly strong on turn 2.
Also, we just got the new quests so it‘s not like you can‘t transform your heropower. Rogue, Druid and shaman can all be completed on turn 5, that’s still pretty early! The design is actually pretty smart. Unlike Sir Finnley or dinomancy, you guarantee the effect to trigger relatively early and can build your deck around it
Damn Blizz, i basicly knew this would happen but mana nerfs feel so bad. The community proposed many great ideas for conjurers and Boom! I know you think we’re all dumb and not able to process complex changes but give us a chance for once!?
From a balance perspective, they are great though. I
RDU talks about replacements, especially Subject 9. You can easily replace that card.
Siamat is just a great card to have in your collection. Neutral and safe to craft. But replacable aswell. I would take out sandbinder then aswell though. Wich is sad because drawing Zephrys is great and wins games.
A good candidate for replacements:
Wild Bloodstinger! I love this one and would like to find a place for it myself. He is allmost never bad.
Check out a video from RDU, he hit legend rank 1 with that deck a couple days ago and explains it in depth.
I play it myself atm (rank 1, about to hit legend) and for me the key was greedy secret mulligan and aggressive playstile.
Brann on turn 7 is stupid strong.
Zephrys is allways insane. I use him mostly for swing turns and for lethals of course.
And finally, secrets are hard to play correctly. If done well, it‘s very rewarding but it can backfire. Consider what your opponent thinks and play some mindgames with him. The matchup is also important.
This will for sure be a reoccuring thing if it‘s well recieved by the community and i bet my ass that those two will join the standard crew weeks before the new highlanders rotate spring 2021.
Nice overpowered celebration of Zephrys
I‘ll add my two cents.

WTF, haven’t even red it but i‘m freaking out already! Amazing stuff
Games could go on for ever, combos would be hard to pull of and removal would be even rarer.
People criticise highlander decks because the best playstyle against them is not playing around anything. The same thing would apply here.
Its less consistancy and more random shit. Probably horribly unbalanced.
Can‘t find a positive thing about auch a game mode tbh.
More than two copies of the same card is no option imo. I

Maybe heroic will be more satisfying. I

They improve from year to year!
I would guess their data analysis has become strong enough to detect broken stuff in the developpment.
I‘m totally impressed that things like the hunter quest turn out to be viable. All highlanders see (saw) play.
In general, the vaste field of T2 decks is a good indicator of a healthy meta. Little shifts are enough to bring totally new decks into the ladder
Will they fix the Mecha jaraxxus Animation at some point or is it intended?
Discover change and it’s effects:
- warriors don‘t find Omega devestator that often anymore
- less consistant results from frightened flunky and stonehill defender
- some arena cards are weakend. The scarabs etc.
- spell discovery remains unchanged (all of hunter and mage)
- Pretty sure, Zephrys is not affected
- Rogues burgle discovers are not affected
==> This is allmost exclusivly a warrior nerf!
I had my doubts at first but this nerf touches exactly the bad aspects of the mechanic: consistant overpowered results.

I don’t know how to feel.. i didn’t craft the current mage decks because i expected the nerf but now i’m sad that i never will play this deck

Amazing how wrong we were! Tbf, we didn’t know Zephrys at the time of those comments.
And bomb warrior is totally a thing! A friend hit legend yesterday with it. Went 10-0.
Wrong thread bud. But i can see were the confusion came from ;
Watch the video guys! I won‘t link it for you ;)

The slap that rogue got with both prep and raiding party lets me hope that mage will be hit twice aswell.
Allthough the current reno lists with a single giant and conjurers are not even that oppressive anymore. Hunter eats those for breakfast
