Interesting article! Glad i found it and read it. I can only say that i fully agree having quit HS several years ago for the same reasons, more or less.
The company is not worth it anymore. Only cash grabing gigs without proper direction (look at diablo mobile, sc2, etc).
I'd much rather pay for single player games i can play endlessly than enter a stupidity loop similar to what gambling is.
Here comes We are football 2024, Order of battle, Headquarters ww2, manor lords, against the storm etc!
Thanks for the review. I was thinking of playing this, but the blunders/oversights are quite important to me. Unopened loot getting screwed upon leaving an area and monsters respawning? No thanks. Give us infinite inventory then, until these issues get fixed! I'm playing an arpg for the loot and maybe a bit for the story => huge frustration with issues related to this.
I've started (and ended, lol) playing Avorion with a semi-overhaul mod pack (XAvorion). Stopped because one of the mods cannot be reverted thus basically forcing a new game (and i need a break for now). Definitely coming back to it soon.
Also started a few games of Millenia. Looks interesting but it's barebones and some things are off. Not gonna entertain the Paradox money making scheme either (20$ game + 500$ dlcs). The game needs much more to even consider buying it. At least some of the concepts are different and interesting, yet really fit for meta-game play (which i deeply hate).
I've already made a thread about this, but here goes:
- go to the Community tab on the main page, then click on any page number down below (e.g. 4)
Expected: the realms/threads of that page number are loaded and visible directly.
Actual result: we are back on the main page of the site, with the News tab active. Switching the Community one does indeed show the correct threads from the initially selected page number.
It seems that clicking on pages 2,3,... of the community tab reloads the main page but with the news tab active. When clicking on community again, the correct page is loaded
When clicking the "view all realms" button, a 0 shows up underneath each of them. Shouldn't it count the number of posts about it, or something similar? Also, it'd be nice to have a checkbox to filter out realms with zero posts so they don't clutter the list.
Hi. Just realized i never told you my gripe with the website :D
After going into a community thread and pressing the "back" button on my phone, the main page defaults to the "news" section/tab instead of opening up the Community section/tab, where i navigated from.
Not sure you can do something about it, but putting it out there :)
Other than that, the new looks needs a bit of getting used to, but it's a clear improvement for organizing stuff over the previous design. Nice going!
First one - seems to be related to rockets and such. As a WOW area i'd say Tanaris, Stonetalon Mountains or that gnome city area in Northrend (K3 - storm peaks?).
Second one - seems to be related to pirates and sea shells, so i'd wager on the east coast of Tanaris.
Third one - looks like something from Moonglade, or something from another WoW expansion that i never played. Yet, it may be related to lunar stuff (druids, lunar festival). Not really seeing the space theme tbh.
I understand what you're saying. For me it's just sad that they saw themselves with a lot of money from this system and didn't care about redesigning it, and making all cards relevant. Like getting all of them in a balanced state and focusing on diversity. They keep chugging out cards, a lot of them useless, just to dilute the pool and thus gain more money.
I guess what i'm saying is that the focus is not on quality and efficiency and strategic thinking. But this is the game now and it's clearly not for me anymore.
The biggest issue still remains - the amount of money and time you need to invest to catch up (and play only until the next set arrives). That's the cow milking that i hate.
I wonder, is PoE 2 gonna be as grindy and boring as PoE 1? Did they say anything yet?
Asking this because the changes in Grim Dawn 1.2.0 actually make that game a lot better in my eyes. Just curious if i should keep my eyes on PoE or not.
But... how many negative feedback loops does it take for these "designers" to stop printing overpowered bullshit? And rehashing old ideas into new keywords, etc.
It's not that you're wrong. You're not. The game simply lacks a clear design path. It's all over the place.
They removed the old control type because teenagers are too stupid to think for more than 3 seconds, thus leading to turn 4-6 kills.
Then they reintroduced an idea of control that is more keen to what you said. Other times, the ladder was 80% hyper aggro and early otks. Remember, face hunter will never be a bad deck :) never was, either.
So, you are right. Yet i'm also right with this being an arcade fiasco. Haven't even touched the lack of interaction between players.
It's like they stopped doing adventures and needed a way to compensate, thus making HS mostly single player. Funny...
Their design is really all over the place. Mostly rehashed ideas too. Assigning a keyword to already existing mechanics is not novelty, nor proper design.
They really need new designers there. Or simply to fire those that aren't letting the current ones do something right. No idea what's going on there, but it's being done for years.

Is there a way to create realms for missing games, by us?
For example, i'd be interested in the game Avorion and a few others. Millenia is coming up too.
Also, how about adding a button to the right side of each realm name so we can join faster (without having to actually open its page)?
It seems that clicking on pages 2,3,... of the community tab reloads the main page but with the news tab active. When clicking on community again, the correct page is loaded
Avorion. Best game out there of its kind, especially with a few mods.

The team wasn't able to deliver what is needed, so they are making it smaller? Shouldn't they hire people instead?! Wtf

Thanks for the heads-up. Just got it ☺

How's the game now, compared to 10 years before? Is it worth playing again?
Maybe someone can write a deep article about it.
Also, it's free to play, right? Not sure it's gonna be released to steam as free.
Rather have this as a serious game/cinematic than some stupid cartoon for kids. Just look at hearthstone.
