I think the real issue here is unfortunately Cannonmaster Smythe is currently bad. If you're not going the libram route, its better to go for early game and burst late game with weapons like Hammer of the Naaru. Your early game tempo and secrets should be enough to handle mage so your late game just steamroll past their mana cheating bs while against other paladin there's early game Crabrider, Crossroads Gossiper and Conviction (Rank 1) which should be enough to pull through to the finish line.
The funniest part is that people are so preoccupied with trying to abuse Mage that they don't realise that Paladin is even stronger because it literally doesn't have a counter.
I really hope we get a hotfix this week or else I'll just complete my dailies in Tavern Brawl and not touch the game otherwise.
I don't think we ever had a first week meta that was so bad that basically any and all meme decks are completely unplayable because you can't actually win these matchups without going hard on the turn 1 tempo.
I think you're slightly exaggerating. Dhunters on week 1 was absolutely crushing everything, and so did galakrond shaman week 1. This may not be the healthiest week 1 for a while, but there's no denying its nothing compared to the two named above.
Also, paladin has counters. But since its also very weak to mage, its reasonably not explored much. Shadow Hunter Vol'jin is a good counter, to either remove the Libram of Wisdoms or get one of those pesky Pen Flingers out. Its not even strictly a bad card on its own to be honest.
I'm sorry, but i haven't play standard in a while. What's so good about lunacy mage? Isn't that a deck with random spells? Please enlighten me.
0 mana draw 2 in the form of Refreshing Spring Water. With cards like Incanter's Flow, there's a good chance this card even gives you mana while drawing.
Basically, lunacy mage is incredibly consistent right now. Its not unusual to face one that basically drew 2/3s of its deck while battering you with constant high value cards. Drawn win rate is off the charts at around 70%, as compared with the other cards in the deck.
If you're playing libram pally with kazakus, it'll brick if your libram discounts get any of the librams to 4 mana in your deck.
So for example if you play 1x Aldor Attendant, which causes your Libram of Justice to go to 4 mana, which will brick your kazakus until you play another libram discount card or draw them.
Otherwise I can't say, since its working fine for me.
Its an 8 mana card. That alone condemns this to only exist in druid or a very late game deck, which usually aren't very good. Right now the only decks that I have met using this card is either druid or hunter, because there's also not many high cost spells around that justifies playing an 8 mana card that needs good rng to either land a taunt or rush. Fail that and what you have is an 8 mana card that does nothing for a turn, that's usually just a losing play.
As the deck moves up the mana curve, there's always the danger that their targetted card being drawn, bricking this card, so it basically balances itself. Only druid really breaks this card by cheating mana, but that goes with nearly every other high cost-high impact card in hearthstone right now.
All I can recommend is a little patience as we're almost certain that something will be done to lunacy mage one way or another so the meta will likely change. This card is far, very far, from what I would consider as broken.
I can't say I can ever advocate anyone to avoid their problems. Especially given that in hearthstone, trying to avoid specific classes is fairly futile as its largely dependent on the meta.
Right now the only deck I really can't stand is lunacy mage, but I'm not going to concede the minute I see a turn 2 Deck of Lunacy, because then I'd might as well just not play the game. Hearthstone can sometimes offer you more downs than ups, but that's basically a signal to close the game, do something else, then come back. Or do a little research and try finding the best ways against the problem. Part of the fun is finding ways to overcome the problem, because as you say; it takes the fun away when its a favorable match, especially if its orchestrated by yourself.
Its likely going to suffer a cost increase since no matter how you nerf the effect all it does is just move the initial card choices a little to get the desired card from Deck of Lunacy rng.
My prediction is that Deck of Lunacy goes from 2 to 4, making it more susceptible to both burn and other decks that actually play minions. Refreshing Spring Water might either get nerfed to 5 mana, or effect refreshes only 1 mana. Team5 would then unnerf those cards later, when the rng effects are more varied.
The worst part of it all is that by playing cards that's good against lunacy mage (yeah let's go with that name) like playing more burn you'd inevitably just die to paladin, since that deck doesn't care about burn. This is coming very close to the evolve shaman days where its weapon tech or bust, but at very least shaman does eventually run out of options. Lunacy mage draws so well it's mind boggling. Even if you're not facing a massive highroll from them, they're still drawing two thirds of their deck most of the time.
I used to just ignore this card even though its fairly obvious how broken it is when played early along with cards like Incanter's Flow. After all, rng can swing both ways.
And then team5 went on to not only remove some of the worst cards in hearthstone from the list, they also provided this archetype with a 0 mana draw 2 card, as though as its not unfair enough that this deck is more than capable of constantly removing your board and then swinging back hard, by virtue of cheating tons of mana per turn.
I think Refreshing Spring Water should be less refreshing and actually have a drawback to playing it. Deck of Lunacy may be bs, but only because for some reason no minion mage is able to keep drawing cards more efficiently than the class should ever be capable of.
You’ll now be able to see your watch time progress towards any given drop
Literally the most important change to be made here. Sometimes I tend to feel like the timer isn't moving at all because I accidentally minimized the window.
I guess its only a coincidence that whenever they get some really powerful swing card like evolve shenanigans it becomes cancerous extremely quickly. This, along with hunter's bs identity, is the reason why both shaman and hunter in every meta are either nuke sized bs on a plate, or the whimpering idiot of every rural village in the modern world. I look forward to the day team5 prints yet another 5 star card for shaman (because otherwise how the hell are they ever going to be good) and then see it take over the meta only to nerf it months later.
Basically you mulligan away all your dyes and laugh whenever your opponent start using theirs. Soon your opponent will catch on to it as he looks in confusion how you never used any dyes at all, then proceeds to concede because he just threw all his dye on a bs 0/2 egg that never hatches.
There's a hidden threshold of health and turns that need to be fulfilled before a concede counts as 'played' in quest progression. I think the numbers are at least 15 health, or 10 turns.
Its not really a bug. This was the conditions set before the reward track came in darkmoon, where 'played' counts the second you enter a game. In a way I guess team5 'fixed' it.
It sucks being a part of activision-blizz because apparently the company can be making stellar profits and yet there is still mentions of 'downsizing' while the CEO earns a mere few million in bonuses.
Im absolutely certain the team is doing all they can with what they have, but it begs the question why aren't there more QA testers when hearthstone is likely one of blizz's main profit generating machines?
There's another weirder bug with Deathstalker Rexxar. Apparently when you craft a zombeast, all you get is the first choice you pick, so effectively the hp is now just to discover a beast.
Man, hearthstone is now buggier than the insides of a termite colony.
Quick answer to your question: take out all your golden core cards. If you're netdecking it defaults to goldens. Gotta take em all off, and remember to choose the correct card, as some core cards have multiple copies in the collection book.
Well, its not like it wasn't expected. Big patch = big bugs. Hopefully they clear this up quickly, and maybe compensate us for this day one deluge of bugs? Don't hold your breath, its quite unlikely.
At the moment, Im able to connect to games using non-golden core cards. If you have a golden core card in your deck list chances are good you'll meet with the usual 'unable to connect' message. You got to be really careful when picking your the core cards, I mean there's currently four sets of the same card (2 golden from your collection, 2 awarded from core) currently hanging in the collection book.
I mean cards that can or may counter paladin decks aren't very good against lunacy mage, hence why they're rarely seen.

So we're basically skipping guldan and thrall now?

And a much smaller spell pool, which is incidentally of high value, like Nagrand Slam, Skull of Gul'dan, Expendable Performers, etc. Not to mention that there's already a good number of cards that already synergizes with this kind of deck like Font of Power and Apexis Blast.

Shaman's identity according to blizz;

Yet another bug, what will they think of next?
Basically you mulligan away all your dyes and laugh whenever your opponent start using theirs. Soon your opponent will catch on to it as he looks in confusion how you never used any dyes at all, then proceeds to concede because he just threw all his dye on a bs 0/2 egg that never hatches.

Looks like lady luck just rang by as I opened my packs.
Got 10 legendaries in like 85 packs. Don't know how it happened, but this is the best opening day I ever had.
Practically missed all the targets on my wish list, but hey, can't complain with results like this.
Its a confirmed bug. Here's the outofcards article.
