  • No DoD packs, no sir

Wish that these deals just straight up let us choose what packs we prefer, but what do I know right?

  • I waiting for the day a card is printed for battlegrounds that says "deal double damage and take two times less from tribes cards". Basically there are a few cards that you never see in battlegrounds, and most of them would be those pesky unfortunates without any tribe synergy.

Amalgam's removal was required. Its by far one the best card in the game and its rare to see a top tier lineup without at least one with divine shield, taunt and poisonous somewhere.

Plus this also indirectly nerfs lightfang enforcer, which is a step in the right direction.

  • I like it that they are at least looking at patching cards more often. That changes meta and keeps it from going stale too much.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for that nerf to Ramming Speed. Please address this team5, really really terribly powerful card that must be stopped at all costs.

Special mention goes to Chromatic Egg, which I have 3 copies o...its too powerful, must be nerfed NOW!

  • Theres a reason why shaman doesn't run both Mogu Fleshshaper and Sea Giant in the same deck, and that's because you can get mogu out on usually turn 3-4, rush a minion then evolve it. With this nerf, expect mogu to either fade from existence, or come out two turn later. Its very much less scary then.

Also, no more surprise al-akir and grommash. And that's a major plus.

  • Nerfing Corrupt Elementalist in indirectly nerfing Dragon's Pack since it can't be coin-to-curve back to back and that makes the 5 mana slot a little trickier and slower for Galakrond shaman. Only time will tell if Dragon's Pack maintains its high winrate post nerf.

I think lowering the health for Faceless Corruptor even to 3 just simply weakens the card too much. Team5's philosophy with the card might be as a value-trader to come back on board, similar to Oasis Surger. If this gets out of hand post nerf we can expect it to be the first card since [Hearthstone Card (caverns below) Not Found] to get the stick more than once.

The amalgam removal from battlegrounds is spot on. The number of times I just lose to massive amalgam with divine shield, taunt, and poisonous is just too much to bear. Removing bran might just make murlocs more manageable late game. Given that coldlight seer has been moved up a tier, maybe demons can make a comeback.

Would love to see battlegrounds shift power from tribe synergy to giving those poor guys with no tag a chance to shine.

  • At least theres no charge and rush minions in the 10 mana pool.

  • Indeed, and I personally want to see those algorithms that saw me missed out on all the good epic cards while piling me up with 4 duplicates of the same card.

Card should be nerfed to 5 mana. Because we definitely think its busted like hell and deserves to be nuked to 8 1/2 mana at least.

  • They usually do. Maybe when the patch rolls out there would be another statement that informs players on their justifications. These are usually short statements, so if you're expecting a shakespherean writeup on why a card is bumped one mana up then I'm afraid you're up for some disappointment.

I think we need to give this set of nerfs a chance until after the holidays. The nerfs are not to the expectation of the community (including mine) but I think the intention is so Galakrond shaman wouldn't be at 60% win rate anymore.

  • I feel your pain brother.

60 packs opened 9 epics and 4 of the bloody things turned out to be Ramming Speed

    lol

  • I think most players will drop Sludge Slurper down on 1 if they can, and rarely this card is kept in the hand until the quest completes. The nerf to attack may seem insignificant but there have been more games than I care to remember where this tiny turdling managed to keep me from playing some cards for fear of losing tempo.

The loss of one attack means its just gonna get eaten by just about every card in the early game and that is an early tempo loss which shaman can usually ill afford.

  • These nerfs might allow more aggro tempo decks to resurface. In that case it might be that Necrium Apothecary just becomes too slow or too inconsistent to just rely on Anubisath Warbringer alone.

I like the nerf to Faceless Corruptor. A little down but not out. Not so much for Corrupt Elementalist. Its still the best invoke card in the game, just one turn slower. I guess the idea is that its will also slow down Dragon's Pack, which for some reason managed to dodge the nerf stick this time.

I wasn't expecting the nerfs to be so...mild. I thought the usual rule of thumb for nerfs in hearthstone was to nuke cards off the screen.

  • Without the quest completion I think its fair to say that quest shaman is mostly dead. At that point its a highroll Mogu Fleshshaper (by far the most oppressive card in SoU) mutate combo or get your prayers from ethereal lackey.

Quest shaman actually starts with pretty weak tempo and until their quest completion, can't actually push anything aside from Mogu Fleshshaper. That was why quest druid destroys the deck. I think by increasing the quest requirement from 6 to 8 or 9 substantially weakens the deck enough for most mid range decks to get through. That is, of course, if quest shaman remains to be anything after this nerf.

It was oppressive early in SoU but mellowed a little until the Doom in the tomb event. Its not easy to pilot this deck and its far from being the best deck in the meta then. There's no need to push it that far off the edge.

  • That would probably nuke the quest. Probably best just to increase the requirement to finish up the quest from 6 to 8 battlecry minions.

Better to just simply not print good battlecry cards for shaman. Or HoF Mind Control Tech.

  • We can agree to differ I guess. For my own part I've never been able to point out this card being a problem when I lose my match and certainly not at turn 5-6. Similarly, I've never been tempted to keep the card in my mulligan unless I got a 1 drop and/or 3 drop in hand.

For what its worth, this is not the case with Corridor Creeper when it was played in every deck. It was a hard mulligan for this card in every matchup and that was why it was nerfed to the ground.

  • The card is definitely busted. But being a neutral card means that I get to play a similarly busted card as do my opponent. And that's why I think team5 would probably wait for more data before nerfing this to oblivion.

The problem with galakrond shaman is that most of the cards listed is basically only available to shaman. Had Corrupt Elementalist been a neutral card the calls for it to be put down would probably not been unanimous

The card is nowhere near the levels of power demonstrated by the cards listed above and past cards like Corridor Creeper and Bonemare. I would argue that its at the cliff edge of busted. Probably as intended.

  • Great meta report on shamanstone. I like how blizzard kept the most OP Galakrond shaman cards until the last reveal date only for us to see nothing but those few cards from launch.

Probable nerf contenders and some opinions:

Corrupt Elementalist - Mana increase. Blizzard don't wave the nerf stick around on effects that much and I don't see them doing so now. Expecting it to be 7 mana, since at 6 it still seems too good not to include.

Dragon's Pack - Mana increase for the same reason above. Probably at 6. Without good invoke cards, this is dead weight in the hand

Galakrond - I'm pretty sure this would not get hit. But if it does then its probably going to affect the size of the raging elementals from the battlecry. Two 6/6 with rush, still playable. But with a nerf to elemetalist, it might still be "fair" for two 8/8 rush as a reward for playing Galakrond shaman.

Faceless Corruptor - I'm probably the minority here but I really don't see this card as an issue even if it was included in every deck. Its condition requires a minion on board to play on curve and two 5/4 on turn 5-6 isn't really that bad considering that the opponent can do the same. But the reasoning with Bonemare resonates, so if this gets nerfed at all, it would probably be bumped to 6 mana

    Special mention:

Mogu Fleshshaper - Don't know why this card exist for a class with evolve options, or why it has rush. But it has dodged every nerf swings since SoU so let us hope and pray he gets the hit this time.

  • At least that doesn't put 2 8/8 rush on top of the bs you get from shaman these days.

  • Corrupt Elementalist is not a problem in of itself. The tremendous problem is that it imbalances the Galakrond from other classes in shaman's favour. Invoke cards are supposed to be bad for their mana cost while upgrading Galakrond. This card however, is just good in of itself, and it upgrades Galakrond way too fast, AND it basically means shaman doesn't have to play the other bad invoke cards.

At the moment, its one of the highest winrate cards in G-shaman. It needs a nerf to 7, or lowered stats on 6.

[Hearthstone Card (Faceless corrupter) Not Found], being a neutral card at least means I can play it myself. I don't see how its broken given that Oasis Surger didn't get nerfed so I'm thinking this would be a skip.

Maybe Galakrond's 8/8 rush will be turned to 6/6. That might just reduce the swing.

Dragon's Pack might get the nerf stick for being stupid stats on 5 but if they nerfed Corrupt Elementalist to the ground then maybe this can get a break for now.

  • at least faceless corrupter was a neutral card. The problem at its heart is that shaman invokes faster than the other Galakrond classes, and is able to double Galakrond's battlecry value.

Either Corrupt Elementalist becomes a neutral card, or that thing needs a major nerf. Invoke cards are supposed to be overall pretty weak for their cost, but with this around shaman doesn't have to include the other bad invoke cards to do the same thing.

  • Looks like team5 did not expect shaman to take center stage. I think the problem is that both quest and Galakrond are being placed into the same deck.

Galakrond quest shaman invokes twice as fast, tempo swings so ridiculously with double battlecry invokes, and if you manage that 9 mana Galakrond with double battlecry it places 4 8/8 with rush on board.

Judging from experience the mana cost for a few cards would likely go up. Contenders: Dragon's Pack & Corrupt Elementalist

Oh, and increasing mana cost or decreasing buff to Dragonmaw Poacher would be most helpful. I saw no dragons in the first 10 matches and the first one was malygos.
