I can see many are not fans of these signature cards.
But really, some of these are just better artwork than the normal cards. Arcsplitter in particular, in the normal card looks like hes taking a shit, whereas in the signature card it looks at least dynamic. And this can be said about many others. Lady Deathwhisper's signature artwork looks much better, because I have no idea what the normal art's pose is doing.
What Im really curious about is how these cards appear on the board. Because the traditional circle surely doesn't work the same way, and the lack of color will more likely irritate than anything else.
I think diamond cards are a bit distracting to be honest. Never was a fan of the diamond rim, but these look neater if nothing else.
Shouldn't they let us unlock the DK via the prologue before the expansion starts itself? I mean, didn't they did this with dhunter? So on 6 Dec itself we'll all be scrambling to play the prologue instead of any new decks. Its not like we have tons to do before the expansion starts anyway.
Yeah youre right, the xp boost remains the same as per nathria. I guess I got fooled by the diamond rommath not being on level 1, where those free diamonds usually is at the start.
Giving the xp boost early certainly makes the investment more worthwhile, but the best news is certainly the dupe protection for those golden epics, which has been a scourge in my life ever since barrens.
Interestingly Lady Deathwhisper is being given off in the paid rewards track. Being one of three legendaries in the path of arthas set (and in my opinion the only one worth getting) there may be an argument to just skip the path of arthas set and get the paid rewards track. Just craft the commons and rares where needed.
I think they've explained it before, that if you already own the signature card being offered for free then you get a chance at rerolling it to another one. Dont know how that works yet, because this expansion will literally be the first time its implemented.
Getting to discover the concoctions is really nice. Now that we know there are actually five possible concoctions, I'm wondering how many can be mixed at once. I figure probably not all five, if only because that much text wouldn't fit on the Mixed Concoction card.
Only two at a time. The tech is not yet here for long descriptions, and it would appear that there are as many uncollectible cards as there are mixed concoction.
Its so baffling that the cost is 6, for an effect that's given to priest at half the cost.
So we're left to assume that playtesting reveals this card to be a hit, somewhere. Closest thing I can think of would be Infectious Ghoul or Plaguespreader, both of which aren't exactly premier targets, more like annoying shit.
Not to mention that it only works with undead, so whatever you're playing must have very specific undead in it. Convolution on convolution, and this being a 6 mana card, Im not liking its chances. Im tentatively giving it a mid score simply because its so suspiciously intentional shit, giving hope that there's a good reason for it.
Its honestly a shit card that's so dependent on the meta it might as well be a tech card.
Because in what way will warlock ever play this card unless we're seeing 8/8 giants on turn 4 again? Even then, it needs an undead target and as yet there isn't really one that benefits from an awful lot of stats. Dont think this will see any play, unless as mentioned, the meta turns hard on for cheated out giants.
Its a deathrattle trigger for a near non existent deathrattle target
Closest thing I can think of would be Naval Mine, which might help soften up all those decks with renathals but otherwise doesn't really do much. You can crack eggs and make a good deal of stats, but if that was the play being expected then surely everyone would just crack your egg for you and brick this card in your hand.
Outside of that, there is plenty of undead deathrattles introduced in this expansion like Plaguespreader, Infectious Ghoul, Invincible, but Im not exactly convinced warlock would even play those cards.
The real clincher to me is actually how well and consistent Conjured Arrow would work in practice, because the manathirst is currently the only thing stopping this card from absolutely transforming the hunter gameplan. Which is why I thought it would work in face hunter, because that deck suffered immensely from its lack of tempo in the early game and draw in the late game - which is why its not a very good deck, as opposed to other aggro decks like implock and dhunter.
So in a world where we can exercise conjured arrow reliably on turn 6, you can draw upwards to 4 cards with Talented Arcanist, or if youre juicing that card then it'll be at least 5. That's not insignificant for a class that can easily burn 10 damage with two cards. The draw also allows you to fit in janky cards like Talented Arcanist, Twinbow Terrorcoil etc.
Im not 100% behind this at all, purely because the manathirst condition of conjured arrow is currently way too severe, and the fact that all these cards are clunky as hell for hunter. Cant say for sure until we get our hands on it. But at least its one direction hunter can look forward to.
Honestly, if the whole package doesn't work, I wont be too surprised to see the manathirst condition be reduced to 4 in a later buff.
Its another in a set of clunky cards for hunter, but at least this card helps a little by at very least playable on 3 no matter the situation, unlike Silvermoon Farstrider.
I rate this card because you'll always be mulliganing for your 1 drops, not your arcane spells. So the best hand would likely be more than glad to play this on 3. Probably playable, but wouldn't be too surprised to see it cut off for other less clunky hunter cards.
Im on the fence with this card. Because hunters dont draw very well in the early game so if youre dropping this on two youre essentially playing a river croc. And you might well be forced to do it, because hunters dont tend to play for tempo very well. So we're faced with a situation where this card can be excellent, but conversely might be a brick in the hand.
Like all the other arcane hunter cards its clunky. But if Talented Arcanist proves a better, more consistent, trigger for Conjured Arrow we might actually have to cut this card from the list because what the point of playing a river croc on 2 when there's a slew of better 2 drops?
Its not bad, but if you can't juice it with Silvermoon Farstrider on 2, then this card is just not very good. But it does have a fairly nasty scaling, and plays for tempo pretty well so I guess if youre running those spell damage cards then this card would be a easy pick.
Like the rest of the hunter arcane cards, this thing can only be judge through playtesting because its clunky as hell, something hunters aren't very good at making work.
So in addition to arcane shot you get another spell that's cheap and scales well with spell damage, and on top of that can play defence well. Flexible shit, which is what hunters need if they're ever going to play aggro in this meta again.
Its probably the highest power level card from hunter this expansion, because this card can literally draw you about 5 cards easily for 4 mana. Possibly more, depending on the juicing.
But I have a feeling that its manathrist condition renders it way too slow, which means you need to play for tempo, and that's not one of hunter's strong suits. Without actual testing its impossible to judge this card, because when it works it'll likely win you the game. And conversely the card may be too clunky to ever see play despite its obvious power level.
Oh dear, looks like Talented Arcanist would be working over time next expansion it seems.
After a few expansions misses, this may finally be where face hunter makes a comeback. One of the persistent problems with hunter has always been its draw (outside of quest hunter) and Conjured Arrow may well be the thing that finally allows face hunter to exist in this meta. Because with a few setups and Talented Arcanist, you'll likely be drawing way beyond the efficient 1 card per mana costing. That means there's a better chance you can fully utilize Twinbow Terrorcoil to its fullest potential
Both Silvermoon Farstrider and Halduron Brightwing are hard to judge, because we dont know how well hunter can maintain tempo, and conjured arrow only ever draws after turn 5. Both are setup cards essentially, but it may well be necessary to play more immediately impactful cards like wildseeds rather than rely on an inconsistent setup.
There is a chance that these cards are just too clunky for a straight class like hunter. Only a hands on will tell, because at the moment it does seem like any aggro deck would just roll this entire deck over.
Because Im still scratching my head as to why anyone would play this card over Illidari Inquisitor, or any of the big demons for that matter. Certainly weaker than all of them.
The only redeeming feature of this card is that it'll probably do some damage before going down, about 4-7 damage, probably 6 on average because 9 health is an awful lot of health to shave off without killing this thing. But then again, if you are playing this card you'll need as much help as you can get. The card certainly isn't looking to do you any favors.
I'll be honest, if team5 had concealed this card and revealed the others, the concoctions would be a shoe-in for the lady liadrin award of this expansion.
Because all of them are shit...until you have this card in hand. Even at its baseline you'll cheat out one concoction, and then with Shadowstep you get another one out completely for free, making a mixed concoction that can then be played immediately on 3. Along with slimy concoction you can build boards out of nowhere really early, which is the power play this archetype really needs.
Alongside with Potion Belt you can contrive this two cards into just about any deck and be somewhat successful with it. Wont be too surprised at seeing its high mulligan win rate.
Probably useless. Because Potion Belt completely renders this card redundant. And if that isn't painful enough, even Concoctor makes more sense than this card.
Unless youre going full concoctions this card is just a pass, a massive shit that needs flushing.
I can see many are not fans of these signature cards.
