This will only be a good card in spell-heavy decks. Might need to see the rest of the expansion to judge how this can be used and what archetype it fits in best. It doesn't feel like a good Hunter card, even though the effect is good.
Not sure what to think of this card. Seems really powerful with its Prince Keleseth-like effect and you can run two copies of it. It's also a 4-mana spell that's dependent on being drawn. It'll suck if this is in the bottom of your deck.
I don't know if this will see play. Looks high-rolley unless you can tutor it out.
This is a really good, solid card. A 4/3 rush minion with divine shield is great removal, and has the added bonus of discounting a Holy spell in hand. It's not flashy, but I'm pretty sure this will see play in every Paladin deck.
Interesting effect for Hunter, we still need to what new spells the class is getting. Could enable some combo plays, but overall drawing/tutoring cards is always good.
I also don't get the flavor of this card. What does that effect have to do with the character? Is that related to what he did in WoW or something
This is an extremely powerful card, as long as it gets the proper synergies (we already have one with Reckless Apprentice). 10 damage to ALL enemies is either a massive board wipe or lethal face damage, or even both. Very appropriate power for a 10-drop, seems like we haven't had one in a while.
I might try some Mage in the next expansion if this gets more synergies. I hope the animation will be sick.
Finally, another good minion for Big Demon Hunter. There could also be some combo potential here like others have already mentioned, with cards like Felosophy and Soul Split around.
Not sure how the DH class will look when some of the initiate cards rotate out, but I think this minion will see play.
Why is it that whenever I play again after taking a long break, I always get queued up against my chosen deck's worst matchup?
In this instance, I decide to play Big Warrior and my first three games are against Lifesteal OTK Demon Hunters, which I have no chance of beating with my slow deck. It's like the game is intentionally telling me to quit because it'll just give me misery.
Congraaats! :) So happy for you! I always love to read these posts. What was your free legendary? I´ve never been there yet, always up and down D3-D1 until I give up, but I´m gonna try to make the final push next month. GG WP!
Well, the legendary was Lorewalker Cho, not a great one, but I only lost 1 single game today, you can't have it all!
If I did it you can do it, too! It's a matter of time, if you reach Diamond 5 early enough you will achieve it!
I swear, the game always gives first-time legend players a crap legendary. Mine was Hogger :P
Anyway, congrats! The first time is always the most satisfying.
This is way better than the old Alexstrasza. Very versatile because it can target minions, making it a decent removal tool. So many uses for this card, just a wonderful update on the Life-Binder.
I've started playing a lot of Paladin and this card is just nuts. You don't even have to corrupt it for it to be good, since having a discounted 5/3 weapon is just really powerful. It's just a way better Arcanite Reaper, considering all the synergies it has with Libram discounts.
So I played Hearthstone again after more than a week, and I got welcomed by consecutive games against the new Ramp Paladin, and three consecutive games against the new Token Druid. I was dead by turns 5-6 every time. Talk about a rude welcome. But it's all good since I won five straight after that, so it evened out. 8-)
Seriously though, if those two decks are left unchecked, we might be in for a worse meta than the one ruled by Evolve Shaman once the meta settles down some more. Those decks are somehow even more degenerate than Evolve Shaman, which is crazy. I expect nerfs soon, maybe to High Abbess Alura and Arbor Up.
LEX LUTHOR: MAN OF STEEL - Brian Azzarello & Lee Bermejo
The first in Brian Azzarello's series of stories told from a villain's POV (he followed this up with "Joker," which is just as good). The story is told from Lex Luthor's perspective; he's written as the protagonist of the story, with Superman as some looming presence that threatens the existence of humanity. It's gripping, paranoid, and engrossing, and what's most impressive is it manages to make you sympathize with Luthor.
Its stretched a bit far honestly. Superman has red glowing eyes all the time in this comic, and that scrap he had with batman made absolutely no sense considering batman is already often portrayed as having a spare kryptonite with him. Even more baffling is how batman (as Bruce Wayne) later shared technology with Luthor despite being Superman's ally. But that said, I do love the story, making Luthor more human than a saturday cartoon deranged psychopath bent on destroying superman at all costs.
I don't mind the red, glowing eyes of Superman in this comic since it's told entirely from Lex Luthor's point of view. It makes sense that we see him as the monster that Luthor sees him as ;)
I'll have to re-read it again, but didn't Bruce Wayne share Luthor's fear that Superman could one day decide to rule over the Earth? Or it could be that Luthor manipulated Bruce into thinking the same way, hence the scrap he had with Superman. And from what I remember, I think Superman sensed that Batman was carrying kryptonite with him that's why he attacked him. They weren't really depicted as "allies" in that story, more like guardians of their own domains that kept a respectful distance from each other.
Oooh, I love this thread. I used to read comics a lot until that hobby became too expensive. Here are some of my recommendations, meaning they're the absolute best stories I've read in graphic novel form. Most of these are Marvel and DC titles, as I was a bit of a superhero geek back then.
AVENGERS & NEW AVENGERS - Jonathan Hickman Probably my favorite run from any comic book writer ever. The gist of the story involves the Avengers' and Illuminati's attempts to prevent the multiverse's collapse that would bring about the end of everything, caused by a mysterious entity called Rabum Alal. It's a story that spans multiple titles (there's the Avengers and New Avengers titles, Infinity, and concludes with Secret Wars), and trust me when I say it's the most epic thing you'll ever read. Just get the correct reading order online to get the full experience.
OLD MAN LOGAN - Mark Millar & Steve McNiven It's your typical Mark Millar shock value fest, but I just love the apocalyptic setting this story is set in. In this universe, the villains won and have divided up the US among themselves, with Red Skull, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Hulk, and other villains lording over their own regions. One of Mark Millar's best work.
HAWKEYE - Matt Fraction & David Aja Someone already recommended this, but I can't stress enough how good this run is. It's got a unique voice, the art is great, and the story feels bigger than the small-scale hijinks of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop. It's something I re-read every now and then.
THE VISION - Tom King & Gabriel Walta I can't recommend this enough. The "WandaVision" series borrows heavily from this story by Tom King, which sees the Vision creating his own family and trying to live in the suburbs. It's creepy, unsettling, and a damn good read.
LEX LUTHOR: MAN OF STEEL - Brian Azzarello & Lee Bermejo The first in Brian Azzarello's series of stories told from a villain's POV (he followed this up with "Joker," which is just as good). The story is told from Lex Luthor's perspective; he's written as the protagonist of the story, with Superman as some looming presence that threatens the existence of humanity. It's gripping, paranoid, and engrossing, and what's most impressive is it manages to make you sympathize with Luthor.
ASTONISHING X-MEN - Joss Whedon & John Cassaday X-Men characters well. He "gets" Cyclops, Wolverine, Emma Frost, and especially Kitty Pryde, who is the real MVP of this run. If you're looking for some great X-Men stories that aren't too reliant on the bloated history of the X-Men, this run is for you.
PREACHER - Garth Ennis & Steve Dillon A tough Texan, Jesse Custer, obtains the power of the Word of God--he can make anyone do his will just by commanding them with his words. It's a great premise, and it's propped up by a memorable cast of characters like Cassidy, Herr Starr, The Saint of Killers, Arseface, and God. The TV series didn't do the comic justice IMO; read the comic if you really want the unfiltered depravity and violence of Garth Ennis's story. Oh, and Preacher has some of the best cover art in the history of comics.
TOKYO GHOST - Rick Remender & Sean Murphy Follows the adventures of Debbie Decay and Led Dent, two "peacekeepers" in the technological dystopia of LA. The story's pretty good, a little cliche, but the art is what does it for me. The grimy cyberpunk aesthetic perfectly captured the story's essence.
Nice list, though I'm surprised some classic card backs didn't make it. Here's my top 10, I like them simple and clean, not too colorful. I've always believed that having more than three colors in a design is too much lol.
1) Ragnaros 2) Ironforge 3) Frostwolf 4) Candle King 5) Lightforged 6) Naxxramas 7) N'Zoth 8) Eyes of C'Thun 9) Card of Shadows 10) Tomb Invader
I freaking love Dynasty Warriors, I played it a lot many years ago (mainly DW5, the costumes there are more iconic than any other version).
I'm a little disappointed that there are only 4 hero portraits though. There are a lot more interesting characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story that could be applied to Hearthstone heroes like Cao Cao and Sima Yi (both for Warlock, maybe?), Gan Ning (DH?), Zhou Yu, Zhao Yun, etc.
Anyway, I love the Lu Bu Garrosh skin, it looks so badass. And I'm simping HARD for that Diao Chan Valeera portrait. I might get those two, assuming we'll be allowed to choose.
This will only be a good card in spell-heavy decks. Might need to see the rest of the expansion to judge how this can be used and what archetype it fits in best. It doesn't feel like a good Hunter card, even though the effect is good.
A great finisher for Murloc decks, or even token Shaman decks.

Strong card the demands instant removal for the value it brings. Good thing it can't go infinite.

This is pretty crazy. Good anti-secret tech in terms of finding out what your opponent's secrets are.
Good card, could see play in either a midrange or control deck.
