My tip is to take it one game at a time. It sounds so basic, but that's really all you have to do. You're already at Diamond 3, and you're playing a really strong meta deck in Pure Paladin, so if you keep calm and take it a game at a time, you should be able to reach legend. Shrug off every loss and focus your energy and attention on your next opponent. I've found that being tilted is a surefire way to suffer a losing streak, it's happened to me too many times. You'll catch a break soon enough.
My most recent climb to legend saw me being stuck at Diamond 2 for 2 days. I kept alternating wins and losses with my Bomb Warrior deck, but the thing was, I never found myself dipping below Diamond 2 so I was confident I'd break through eventually, which I did when I hit a favorable patch of opponents for a winning streak.
So the gist of my advice would be: Don't think too much about hitting legend and just focus on winning the next game (if you can, ignore your progress even), and avoid getting tilted at all costs. If you lose your composure, take a break then jump back in when you're calm.
I get the sentiment of the original post, but I disagree that control is dying. In the last meta alone, we've had a number of viable control decks like Control Priest, Control Shaman, and Big Warrior. Even the Galakrond Bomb Warrior was played like a control deck sometimes; the game plan was to control your opponent's board long enough to see them die from all the bombs you shuffled in, if you don't kill them with weapon damage first.
I think the previous metas (outside of the Outland one, where DH was dominating) are pretty balanced, where you've got a good mix of aggro, control, and midrange decks to choose from. Honestly, I don't want a meta dominated by control. Do you remember the Dr. Boom, Mad Genius days? The Elysiana Warriors were terrible to face too. The games were long, grindy, and tiring. I definitely don't want to see a similar meta again.
Quote From TetsuoIt would be awesome if the level 25 reward was a guaranteed Old God.
Unfortunatelly, it isn´t :/ Right now I´m lvl 26 and my legendary was
.
Thankfully I was lucky to get golden C'Thun, the Shattered from the first golden pack :)
Ughhh, after grinding to level 25 for that free legendary, I got Deck of Chaos too. So far, almost every single legendary I've gotten this expansion has been useless, aside from the free Yogg I got from the bundle and Grand Totem Eys'or from a golden pack. Everything else has been unusable.
I wouldn't really mind the RNG nature of the legendaries we get, if only we had a viable alternative to attaining them. But given the game's absolutely miserly economy, I really have to be careful with how to spend the precious dust I've hoarded up over the past few expansions. I want to craft Inara Stormcrash so I can complete my Enhancement Shaman deck (it's doing well without her though), and I wanna craft N'Zoth, the Corruptor for Wild as well. But I feel like if I spend my dust, I'll be wasting them now that I won't be buying bundles anymore, so I'll have no other choice for the foreseeable future but to grind out games for XP that will only lead to measly rewards.
I hope they introduce some fixes soon. Reddit has been protesting non-stop, let's hope it actually leads somewhere.
Currently level 17 (501/2600) towards 18, and I do not have the Tavern Pass. I only played Ranked Standard to get to Gold 10 otherwise I've been playing Battle Grounds/Duels for achievements. I did complete last weeks win 7 games of Ranked Play mode via low Bronze Wild while completing Ride Together, Die Together, Lothraxion's Balloon Shop & Two Punch Man.
Newly made level 23 (244/3200) towards 24. I've been collecting the Darkmoon Faire xp achievements & completed Duelist 5-9 yesterday before the launch that netted me 5,800 xp. I posted in the 80g (That needs a name update!) quest trading thread if any1 on NA has the Challenge a Friend daily.
I have just made it to level 25 & this was my Legendary reward:
It would be awesome if the level 25 reward was a guaranteed Old God. Hell, they should have made the legendary you get at the start of the rewards track an Old God. I still don't understand why they couldn't give players a free Old God at the expansion's launch. I'm just lucky I got Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate as my golden legendary from the bundle.
They were so generous with gifting us all the Galakrond cards in Descent of Dragons last year so it's reasonable that players feel shafted right now. But then again, that was right after the Blitzchung controversy so Blizzard probably gave them away for free just to appease the fanbase. My hunch is they never really intended to make the Galakronds free too.
PS: burned cards CAN accelerate fatigue if cards are burned, but it never triggers fatigue damage. So you don't immediately kill with tickatus. At best you setup one fatigue tick on next turn. So in the meanwhile you still have to survive for several turns unless you close the game by other means. It's not Coldlight Milling. Subtle but crucial.
This is an important point. Some people think they can kill their opponents through fatigue damage through Tickatus, which doesn't happen. If there are no more cards in your opponent's deck, playing Tickatus won't trigger the fatigue damage you're hoping for because its card text says "remove the top 5 cards in your opponent's deck," it doesn't say draw cards. So if there's nothing to remove, Tickatus' effect is useless.
I've had some opponents BM me right before playing Tickatus when my deck is already empty, no doubt thinking they'd kill me with an avalanche of fatigue damage that doesn't happen. It's pretty funny.
Grand Totem Eys'or is surprisingly good so far. I've been playing Totem Shaman and it's just wrecking most of the other decks right now (I'm currently 8-1 with it).
The main criticism for this card was that there aren't just enough totems to include in your deck, which has proven to be wrong. There's Totem Goliath, Mana Tide Totem, EVIL Totem, and Circus Amalgam, not to mention the totem-duplicating cards like Splitting Axe and Totemic Reflection. That's more than enough support. Add in the presence of Lightning Bloom and Tour Guide and you can cheat out multiple totems and Grand Totem Eys'or as early as turn 2, where it can just snowball from there.
It could be early, but it's powered Totem Shaman to Tier 1 so far. I'm hoping Grand Totem Eys'or would be nerfed eventually though, it was my golden legendary from the bundle. Gimme that dust!
I don't think Tickatus is broken yet because Control Warlocks aren't really that strong right now. They die too easily to decks that can pressure them (Totem Shaman, Rogue, Soul Demon Hunter) because they can't really make power plays until turn 8, when they can finally corrupt their Strongman. Maybe the lists aren't refined yet, but for now, I think control Warlock is tier 3 at best.
Tickatus can be rage-inducing, though. I still expect it to be nerfed to milling just 3 cards instead of 5. I think that's fair.
I think there's a bit of inconsistency with this card's effect. I managed to discount the cost of Bladed Lady with Skull of Gul'dan, then I pumped up my attack to 6 to activate its effect. Since its card text reads "Costs (1) if your hero has 6 or more attack," I fully expected the Lady to be 1 mana, but it became 0, which I think isn't consistent?
The reason I was thinking that was because of Eye Beam: if you discount it to 0 mana with Skull of Gul'dan, it will STILL be 1 mana when it's in outcast position. Maybe it just works differently with outcast, but I dunno, this just doesn't seem right. Not really a complaint, just an observation.
I've been playing almost every day since the new system's launch, for about 3-4 hours, and I'm only at Rank 21. My quest trays are constantly empty after the first two days, I think I finished the weekly quests that quick. I think they need to provide more quests instead of just giving one daily, especially for players who manage to finish everything quickly.
While I appreciate the frontloaded rewards, they're just not enough, and the extremely slow progress of leveling up is just really demotivating. The only thing keeping me going right now is my quest to get the 1000-win portraits for Warrior (901 wins) and Demon Hunter (723); other than that, playing for little reward other than fun seems pretty bad. I mean, fun is good, but I've invested heavily in this game so I expect a bit more in return.
That sounds pretty miserable. How much un-fun would you have to have before you considered trying one of the other games featured on this site?
I played Battlegrounds quite a bit before, but I grew tired of it eventually. It just felt boring. Duels is much better, though after seeing the pitiful rewards you'll get even after 12 wins (check out RDU's video when he opened his rewards), I don't feel as inclined to try it.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy playing ranked. Right now my goal of getting those 1,000-win portraits for Warrior and DH is enough to keep me playing. My only wish is for the rewards to be better eventually, which I think they will be.

I know this isn't very reasonable, but I usually craft what I want on day 1 if I don't get it from packs. Trying out new stuff is one of the most fun aspect of the game for me and I'm willing to bear the consequences of this behaviour.
This is what I do too, I usually have a list of cards I'm going to craft on day 1. These are usually cards that I feel could slot into many different decks though, or ones that I believe would be powerful. I crafted Il'gynoth yesterday because he just slots in perfectly to Soul DH, and I'm close to crafting the other Old Gods (I got golden Yogg from my bundle) because they'll figure into the meta one way or another.
Like anchorm4n said, it also depends on what your goal is. If you want to compete competitively, wait a week. If you just want to have fun, by all means, go craft what you want.
Solem followed in Zeddy's footsteps, he posted a rant against the new system (and everything wrong with HS, basically) in his channel. I hope other major streamers follow suit, though that's unlikely.
I still enjoy this game, but I have to admit that it's not worth spending money on anymore. I've been suckered into buying the pre-order bundles every single time since Witchwood just so I could play some competitive decks, but in the back of my mind I've always known how foolish it was to spend so much on something that won't even guarantee you getting all the cards in the expansion, or at the very least the legendaries or cards you want. But I bought them anyway because the F2P way is such a grind, it was just easier to give Blizzard my hard-earned money just so I could keep enjoying this game I love.
Like the other posters in this thread, I'm going to be F2P from now on. My collection's pretty good now and I've hoarded lots of dust, so it might not be too bad. I just feel bad for all the F2P and casual players that this new system is spitting on; the XP gain is so low, it doesn't matter how much rewards they could get since they'll need to grind 12+ hours just to level up. It's insane.
Even if the devs fix this issue with the Battle Pass, there's still the issue of how expensive the game has become. That reminds me, they'll be releasing another mini-expansion so w'll be forced to pony up again. Unless this game becomes cheaper, I won't be spending money on it anymore.
I've had almost the same luck as you, OP...I opened 5 golden packs, 83 normal packs, and I got none of the legendaries I wanted. At least I got one from the 5 golden packs, but it's probably gonna be unplayable (oh well, free dust).
Just looking at that list again pisses me off, I knew I shouldn't have bought the mega bundle. I always get shafted with the pity timer whenever I buy it, for some reason...
I did get an inordinate number of copies of Bladed Lady, so here's to hoping it becomes busted so I'll have lots to dust :P
Wooooo I made legend for the third time today! With good ol' Galakrond Bomb Warrior, probably my favorite deck of all time. I toiled away for like half the day, getting stuck at 2 stars in Diamond 1 for the longest time, alternating wins and losses, until I finally cleared the hurdle against two Libroom Paladins (supposedly the deck's weakness, but whatever).
Now that the new expansion's just around the corner, I'll just screw around with all kinds of decks for the remainder of the season.
I'm sick of this Diamond 1 hurdle that I just can't overcome this season. Every time I'm one star away from reaching Diamond 1, I end up losing. I've failed like 5 times already. SO FRUSTRATING.
I'm not convinced of the power level of this card, but I do see it being played in some grindy Control Warrior deck. Warrior is a class with access to lots of removal and armor gain, so they can afford to buff the big minions their control decks usually employ. Not to mention the class has gotten some excellent tutor cards like Corsair Cache and Ringmaster Whatley. Buffing Tent Trasher, Circus Amalgam, that mech golem, Armagedillo, Deathwing, Mad Aspect, and the new pirate that gives you a 3/2 weapon seems like a pretty good deal. Needless to say, I'm excited to try out Menagerie Warrior this season.
Super slow, grindy decks will probably find a use for this. Filling your board with this f*cking clown three times in one game (play two copies of it, then the extra one you'll get from Y'shaarj) will give your opponents headaches.
It's still terrible on its own though, so I doubt it'll really see play.
Even if Druid is a class that plays lots of spells, I don't see why people are getting excited over this card. It's a 4/4 with rush, which is not very good even if you manage to drastically reduce its cost. Best-case scenario is you'll be playing this in the mid-game, with its pitiful 4 attack might not even remove some threats and might not even stick on the board because of its equally pitiful health. The upside of this being reduced to 0 mana doesn't salvage its mediocrity, I'm afraid. Why would you let this take up space in your deck?
I was a little meh on this card at first glance because I thought it cost 3 mana, but after seeing it again I have to say this is probably one of the strongest cards in the Darkmoon Faire set. Rogues will LOVE this, the shenanigans they can pull of with this as soon as turn 2 and 3 will be great. This + Shadowstep + Edwin VanCleef or EVIL Miscreant will be strong early game plays.
