  • I feel like the hype will die down about 4 days into the expansion when it becomes apparent that Mage, Warrior, and Shaman just get to do whatever they want while everyone else just doesn't make the cut.

Then the nerfs come and everyone will rejoice until we figure out the next jack of all trades

Yeah honestly to me the hype died when I realized that even if Mad Genius gets nerfed Bomb Warrior will just replace it as the go to control Warrior deck which effectively makes Highlander decks unplayable and with that the only thing that looks remotely comparable in power level is Quest Shaman (which everyone's gonna get tired of vvery soon after we find out that a deck that starts off strong and never falls off isn't very fun to fight)

In reply to I'm excited! Are you?
  • that's what Tekhan is for you silly

  • I like that they relegate filler cards like this to neutral but still have them open for Warlock without polluting their class cards.

That being said Mistr- I mean Queen of Pain was much better...also there's no good Demon buffs at the moment so let's just stick with Zilliax

  • Good from Hunter Pack, but overall this is mostly a 3-mana 2/3 weapon with additional beast synergies.

It's nice and all, but I don't see it worth running overall unless the meta becomes so lackey heavy that 1-damage pings become super valuable

  • People really need to layoff the whole dragon boner. It's just named after the WoW Zodiac. If it was the year of the Raptor, would you complain that they didn't just set 3 expansions in Un#goro?

  • Tekhan looks great on paper, but realistically, how good is he really. Warlock can currently generate up to 6 lackeys (copy shenanigans not included). Assuming we get another lackey generator it'll probably be 8. Likely, you will play half of those for tempo before you even get to play Tekhan, meaning that you play a mediocre 5-drop to get 4 more 1-mana 4/4s down the line. This also requires you to run Cable Rat, which isn't really a staple in Zoo atm.

Ofc you can maximize Lackey value by including stuff like Glinda or Barista, but at that point, isn't it just memeing? Not to mention Tekhan has anti synergy with EVIL Recruiter, since destryoing a 4/4 to get your 4-mana 8/8 doesn't sound nearly as appealing.

All in all it feels like a win-more card and will probably be dropped from the eventual Zoolock lists.

  • I completely forgot about how that works...goddammit, Jumbo Imp is such an enormous failure

  • Rush Quest Warrior maybe?

I tried running Improve Morale in rush warrior (with varying results), but found it to inconsistent. this might be good enough to run, especially if you want to also complete a quest that gives you more steam for the lategame. Sulthraze is also a pretty neat card in Rush Warrior so we already have a solid weapon package (could even run Upgrade, which has synergy with the hero power even if you don#t get to buff a weapon)

  • alright....why would you mummify a robot?

Also a decent minion, but I don't see it really accomplishing much. It's good for Quest Paladin, but other than that it just seems....too weak? Like, this could be a neutral and it would be fine, but as a class minion it's kinda underwhelming

  • pretty good, especially considering the amount of reborn minions we'll probably be ending up. You can use this with rafaam's scheme for basically 4-mana twisting nether (depending on how long you held it)

    Same goes for Fiendish Circle

I wonder if there's a way to make some janky combo/control deck with Jumbo Imp work. You use imp summoning spells then kill them off or destroy them with this, then play Glinda and fill the board with Jumbos.

Unfortunately Jumbo imp needs to be in hand for that, but hey, Sense Demons exists, so maybe.

I mean, it's inconsistent, but Mage has shown that spamming a bunch of beefy boys is a valid strategy (against anything that isn't warrior)

  • and even then he's still a more expensive 2 card twisting nether

    god that bat is terrible

  • probably one of the best Druid cards in a while.

Arcane Tyrant was pretty awesome in Druid and this is basically just an improved version. Nourish is actually playable again.

Don't underestimate the power of developing a defensive minion while ramping up or drawing cards.

If you play Overflow there's a high chance you're just gonna draw into these, which will help stabilizing a lot.

Druid is looking legitimately good at this point. They got better removal, better defense and the previous combo winconditions are still around without looking too overpowered. I really hope Gonk Druid makes the cut and shits all over warrior (somehow)

  • pretty solid, might help Highlander Druid seeing how these decks usually struggle with consistent card draw.

This lives or dies based on whether we get an efficient ramp card to either replace or support the nerfed ones.

In any case, this could help decks like Gonk Druid or Heal Druid to become slightly more consistent overall

Also, rebuff my boi Ancient of Lore

  • technically Lucentbark would constitute as a win condition

  • Recycled Arcane Tyrant + nerfed UI.

Now all we need is some actually useful ramp and there might be a chance that Druid gets to do something other than Tokens for a while

Also, Ancient of Lore is on suicide watch. unnerf that poor bastard already

  • Can't wait to play this in a year when it's not hopelessly outclassed by Boom

That being said, this can actually fit in a number of Warrior decks, going from control to midrange, which is pretty neat.

  • Alright, I'M out. Any interest in this expansion has just died

Cyclone Mage highrolls even harder now. Why the fuck would they even print a card like that? It has a 0% chance to see any actual play outside of Arena since paying 10-mana for a glorified Force Tank is absurd, but no, it has to be a really hard to remove 10-drop that aligns perfectly with Sea Giant.

Oh and of course Warrior gets EVEN BETTER boardclears because having the best lategame wasn't enough.

I'm probably not even gonna play the first weeks and just wait for the inevitable nerfs.

  • how is it broken with small summoned minions? What'S the point of turning a 1/1 into  1/7 unless you have infinite copies of Inner Fire those are completely ineffective. Priest doesn't have AoE buffs.

If we got an AoE Innerfire I would agree, but right now this is really just a degenerate combo enabler or a bland gimmick with no real practical applications

  • Blizzard literally unable to come up with any viable Priest gameplay outside of Inner Fire.

Even if they HoF'd Stonetusk Boar with the expansion there's still Bluegill for a guaranteed 28-damage combo

Maybe they'll finally gut Divine Spirit which is the main reason we're in this mess.

Either way, this is basically the fallback wincondition for Priest for the next 3 months if no other deck works....to the point where it might even end up as overpowered and be nerfed because the only counter to a hypercycle 36-damage combo is Aggro or Warrior

  • This might just be the Magma Rager of the set.

I can literally see no reason why I would give my opponent a free Thaurissan effect for a mediocre stat upgrade. I mean you can't even run it into something to get rid of it since it just comes back a second time, which means unless your opponent is so threatened by a vanilla 5/4 that they go out of their way to remove it you're giving them at least 2 turns of free ramp.

Hell if someone played this against me I would try to keep it alive for as long as possible and play ahead of curve for free.

Unironically just play Mukla if you need an overstatted 3-drop.

At best it's a decent result to get from a random evolution or that new Warlock Vulture and even then it probably backfires harder than Doomsayer from Piloted Shredder
