Too expensive to see play
Scuffed Voidcaller LUL
This is certainly not Voidcaller, not simply because Mal'Ganis is unavailable but because the mana discount you'll be getting is just nowhere near as good. But ultimately, I think that comparison is a bit unfair and Fel Summoner is probably better than it looks.
Demon Hunter has at least a few decent targets for Fel Summoner's deathrattle where they'll be getting a minion for a discount (Pit Commander, Hulking Overfiend, and Priestess of Fury). So the question is, will those targets have a meaningful impact on the game if you can cheat them out?
Obviously Fel Summoner is very easy to kill on board - an aggressively stated 2 drop can kill it - and it doesn't have rush, so odds are pretty good that if your opponent wants to kill Fel Summoner and trigger the deathrattle on their turn, they can and will. But in those cases your opponent either has access to hard removal for the demon that gets summoned, or will be punching through that demon. In either case, you're probably looking at your opponent spending at least 6 mana's worth of resources (the initial attack and subsequent removal or attacks on the demon) and at least two cards. That's a fair pretty trade, and if any of those demons stick to the board long enough for you to take a turn, that's a lot of upside.
Yeah if this comes down on turn 6 I'm really not too worried. Voidcaller coming out early is the main issue. Later in the game you have the tools to cope.
Team 5:" We will never print a card like Voidcaller"
Also team 5:
They did it again... :(
I am a bit puzzled with all these Demons in DH: using some is ok ofc, but at some point it just feels like playing Warlock?
Isn't DH supposed to use Demonic power to destroy Demons?
Maybe I missed some DH flavor from Legion, idk.
A Warlock's demons are slaves. A DH's demons are allies (assuming they have enough intelligence to choose; some demons are just too bestial or straight up mechanical to do anything other than what they're ordered to do).
When it comes to gameplay, there is no difference between them being "slaves" and "allies", they're both just minions you're putting on a board.
You can think of it like real wars with traitors and double agents. Illidan's enemy is the burning legion and Sargaras, not individual demons. Furthermore, more than any other character I can think of Illidan wants to win by any means necessary, so he's not going to turn away demons who choose to side with him.
Well they use demonic power to beat the demons.
Something tells me Team 5 wants Demon Hunter to be widely played on launch..
no matter what it will be played widely on launch even it sucks so hard because it is the first new class/region that has been introduced after those years of CCGs, even MTG didn't do that in those years. It opens a lot of deckbuilding slots, new interactions, new identity etc. but Team 5 really wants it to be played in the first "tournament" after the expansion release, it is obvious. If the class sucks, playerbase probably continue to play with it no matter what but if it sucks, it can't be in tournaments and it will be a bad marketing strategy for them :)
Comparable to Possessed Lackey but without Voidlord or Doomguard, its nowhere near its power level. Also, because the deathrattle summons a demon from your hand means you have to first draw the card which makes it fair enough.
Some obviously good targets: Pit Commander (who also summons a demon at the end of your turn), Priestess of Fury, and Imprisoned Antaen
Getting Pit Commander is obviously very good. But with so many Zephrys the Great around, this may not be as optimal as thought. Especially since it has no deathrattle itself, means its just a one taunt, not adequate protection against aggro decks.
Also, this card allows your opponent to get a card off your hand. But its massive attack is bafflingly good. If there's no spells for it, either take it down and lose a minion, or face tank 8 damage. Wonder what person tested this card and thought 8 damage would be remotely fair on this minion.
More like;
Comparable with Voidcaller (..ehm.. look at the texts and catch another inconsistency sadly) but without Mal'Ganis its nowhere near its power level. Voidcaller has also demon tag which means it can summon itself from hand but Fel Summoner can't, which might be sometimes good, sometimes bad. It was bad when you want Mal'Ganis on board but it summons itself so Fel Summoner might be better than Voidcaller because it will bring the board what you want instead of bringing itself.
