We've got a new adventure up this week, or rather a subset of the Trial by Felfire adventure. This is a constructed experience which means we won't be relying on Blizzard's generosity to complete these missions without needing a collection. There are 9 bosses in total which can be found in 2 chapters. Here's links to all our boss pages which will contain more information as we work through the adventure.
Note: Wild cards are not usable in this adventure.
Chapter 1 - The Big and the Bad Bosses
Chapter 2 - The Slithery and the Surly Bosses
Share Your Trial by Felfire Challenges Decks
If you've successfully completed a boss, consider sharing your deck and knowledge with the community! Using our deckbuilder, you can add your creation to the site and tag it with the boss name. Decks will appear on our deck listing and boss pages themselves to make it easier for everyone to achieve victory. You can also optionally write a guide about how to beat the encounter with your deck, which we highlight recommend!
To add decks to the site for boss encounters:
- Visit the deckbuilder.
- Enter the deck string into the provided box, or choose your class and manually fill in the deck.
- Give your deck a good name. The archetype of your deck and the boss you're using it against is a good start.
- Change the "deck type" to Adventure.
- Set your deck's archetype. If it doesn't fit into one, you can select Unknown. If we're missing an archetype, please let us know!
- Select the Adventure Boss your deck it was built to defeat.
If you're looking for decks to help defeat a boss.
- Visit the Trial by Felfire Challenges Guide
- Click on a boss to learn more about them and to find community decks for defeating them.
If you successfully clear a boss, be sure to upvote the deck so others know it is worth their time. Also, share your decks in the comments below and on the relevant boss pages to help others find new strategies.

Okay, I thought it will be more of a challenge, but I´ve beaten all the Slithery and the Surly Bosses with the basic version of Big Druid with Alex. Wonder why did they bother banning all the Wild cards and still leave Alextrazsa.. Not complaining though, can ´t imagine killing some of the bosses from full health..
Ok, that was fun. A few of the bosses were even a little hard. I wish we could have used wild cards, as some others have noted. No, it wasn't too difficult, but wild cards are fun, and I like to have fun. I would have replayed this if I could have experimented with more deck ideas.
Here's what steams me though: they already gave us a free Kael'thas. Why give us another? I know some players like golden cards, but I don't care about them. And I can't disenchant either version. Come on, let me dust just ONE of them, huh?
anyone got a good deck to beat illidan ?
Quest Rez Priest
This is so stupid. You are expected to only use Standard cards, but the bosses get Wild cards. I get that it's supposed to be challenging but the cards that went to Wild weren't reprinted for a reason.
I personally didn't need to think about making new decks to face the bosses, since my Highlander Mage (against the first 8 bosses) and my Highlander Priest (against Illidan) worked just fine.
Enjoyable bosses, tho.
The thing I didn't get is the golden Kael'Thas as reward... I mean, they already gave us the non-golden one, and none of them is disenchantable... I personally would have preferred even a single pack instead.
Cannot get past Magtheridon.
A 3/5 every turn is just insane. Cleared the board and suddenly there are 12/15 taunts popping out.
Completely stumped.
I guess they restricted to Standard to improve the challenge and prevent cheese strategies.
But yeah, such a big letdown for Wild players who don't care for and can't afford an up-to-date Standard collection...
So they gave us a free Kael'thas before the last expansion which we can't disenchant and now we get a golden version that we can't disenchant either? Why do we need both versions?
Also, not being able to use wild cards but the enemies can is pretty much B.S.
It doesn't matter if fixed AI decks can use Wild cards if they are still balanced around being a reasonable challenge for Standard decks. The longstanding issue with heroic/challenge mode was that Wild cards often made them easy because they couldn't be balanced assuming everyone owns cards from 5 years ago.
As for neither Kael'thas being disenchantable: they were free so I don't really mind. Though I admit it is true that having both is redundant, and the normal version especially is looking pretty pointless now.
That's probably why it's called a "challenge" :)
But I'm sure if more ppl complain, they will change it (1 would hope)
First 3 bosses down with Al'ar Quest Paladin, Supremus screwed me good, still trying to beat it with spell druid. Older adventures were more difficult, but nor being able to add Wild cards steps it up quite a notch.
Been having no issues beating these with Highlander Hunter. Challenges don't feel very challenging. But, meh, free content!
No wild decks allowed and no extra deckbuilding slot. Like, seriously? First they don't include deck slots for demon hunter and now I have to delete decks to even clear quests?
Were you not around when you couldn’t even copy and paste deck codes? Now you just have to paste them to a document and you’ll never lose them
Oh I was around from the start. That doesn't excuse Blizzard's lack of QoL/laziness. They rake in millions off this game, squeeze more out of people by making them pay extra for Battlegrounds perks they've conveniently taken away from them and they can't even get off their asses to do the bare minimum for their Wild players by adding some convenience to game modes. That things were handled even more poorly previously does not excuse current shortcomings.
Galakrond Dragon Priest for all the bosses wasn't much of a challenge really. Also no wild. Like seriously Blizzard?
No wild makes it more challenging, and it opens up design space where the solution to the bosses isn't as immediate.
Took me 2 hours but I beat it, used highlander galakround priest for all challenges was quite fun but ended up too quickly :( maybe I should try with another deck..
Every boss I looked at I saw that the hero power was sort of attrition based board control so if I played a control deck I could beat them.. and I was right.
Luckly this time they restricted it to standard so I didn't use the usual renolock and I had to look for another control deck to use :D
First two were a breeze with Dragon DH and Face Hunter respectively. Two tries using regular old Tempo DH on third boss, was 2 damage short of a win on one try. Enough to clear the quest, will try more later.
