Published 6 years, 3 months ago by

The second Masters Tour event of the year is upon us, and this time we're heading to Seoul, South Korea. Over 350 players from all regions gather to compete for their share of the glory and the $500.000 prize pool (up from the initial $250.000 thanks to the community). Find out all the details below.

REMINDER: Don't forget to tune in as Twitch drops are active again. You'll get one Saviors of Uldum pack for three-hour watch and another with six hours.

Tournament Format

Even though Hearthstone Grandmasters will have a new format for the upcoming Season 2, this tournament will still use Specialist format.

  • All games are played as Best-of-3, excluding the finals which will be Best-of-5
  • A total of 12 Swiss rounds, with Top 8 advancing to dual tournament format groups
    • Day 1: 7 rounds of Swiss, players with 4 or more wins advancing to day 2
    • Day 2: 5 rounds of Swiss and the initial matches of Top 8
    • Day 3: The rest of Top 8 matches

  • It's specialist format huh?

damn I thought it was worth watching afk watch it is.

  • Do u have to watch it live? or can you get the packs if you just watch it later on? (ignoring the twitch drops)

    • yes, you must watch it live, hard for Eu, yep.

  • Not sure I'll get be getting up that early to switch twitch on. That's some commitment for maybe a pack.

  • Note how the Hearthstone website itself says the following (which contradicts the article above):

    Dates and Times:

Between 6pm PT, August 15 and 3am PT, August 16
Between 6pm PT, August 16 and 3am PT, August 17
Between 6pm PT, August 17 and 3am PT, August 18

    https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/23062429/

This means that European players are eligible for Twitch drops between 3AM CEST and 12PM CEST (noon).

    • Indeed, depending on source the times are a bit different, but the games should start at times stated in this article. Whether they'll have a one hour pre-show on Sunday before that, I do not know, but games won't start until 4AM CEST.

  • So it's 2 Uldum pack at max ?

    • 2 pax for sure if you watch enough. But random packs as well.

  • Anyone know where to see the deck lists?

    • Decklists can be seen by clicking a matchup with the player of interest on Battlefy. We will also add Top 8's decklists on the site as tournament progresses.

      • Cool!!!  Please add that crazy Dragon Hunter of Pikatwo.  Yeah, he didn't make the day 2 cut but it looked fun as heck.

  • Does anyone know when these guys had to submit their decklists for this?  Most of these decks seem super unoptimized or of archetypes that we've figured out are bad by now (and the tournament stats are already reflecting these issues)

    • Battlefy's tournament site has the following:

      Deck Submission Deadline

      August 15, 2019 @ 5:45 pm PDT

  • The brackets and such can be found at:

From moobot in the playhearthstone twitch channel.

  • It's now live!

  • Tournaments so soon after a new expansion are interesting to me. I'll be watching to see which decks stand out, as they will likely make up a large part of the meta in the weeks to come. Good to know what to counter, and how!

  • Ok so in 2 and half hours time to start grinding packs

  • RIP EU watcher
