I saw that reddit thread on the kazakus link but thought "They wouldn't do that, would they?". Well, apparently after mean streets, old kazakus here got into a new sculpting hobby and merrily increased his cost by 1 and changed his conditions altogether. My suspicions is that team5 thinks 3 cost cards are too important for certain classes, or they're introducing something 3 cost that simply cannot be ignored, hence the cost bump.
I think its safe to say that whatever the golems are, the mere fact that it can offer up draw 2 cards means it will almost always be good. And on top of my head, there aren't alot of 4 cost cards I'd rather be playing over this anyway.
As for Primordial Protector, its sadly too slow. If spiteful decks aren't making it on turn 7, then I cant see why this card would shape any metas anytime soon. Play this card and unless you literally get rush minions, you're more or less going to die the next turn. The only way this card can even hope to see play is that the 10 cost region is filled with taunt minions, hence you can gamble up for a draw and 2 good stats with taunt.
The reason those decks struggled to live was because the spell was random, so including low-cost spells was a big risk. This deck can run all the low cost spells it wants, in addition to getting their big flashy spell tutored.
Kazakus actually costs 4 as well...
Except that the old Kazakus also costs 4 mana
lol, yeah I mess that up. I always though he costed 3.
Damn, now we need to wait for hearthside to know what Kazakus actually does...
Never been a fan of the "no X-cost cards" mechanic, a pretty boring and nonsense limitation imho. Hope to see something new coming.
Here I was thinking that it would be really fun to revisit some of the older original HEarthstone characters like the Gadgetzan gangs because they never really got to shine that much, but I expected it not to happen this year because of the old-school Warcraft focus.
Well, color me impressed, here's our boy again.
Now let's do the same for Han'Cho and Aya Blackpaw and I'll be a happy boy
Maybe the grimy goons will finally get a chance to shine, feel like they got the short end of the stick. With the core handbuff card and new handbuff cards no longer showing which cards they hit maybe they'll be better this time
The elemental looks strong at first sight: you get a 6/6 Elemental, tutor a spell (you're likely to know which one exactly) and on top of that you get random 8-10 drop. Very slow on turn 8 but the value may be worth it.
What does Kazakus being in the Barrens mean? Especially since there's supposed to be a story this year.
Maybe Kazakus is a mercenary in the new mode?
Also we've already seen 2 other neutral legendaries, will the other two also be specific for deck building?
It’s a “loose” story. Likely meaning a Horde exp, an Alliance exp, and then a HvA exp. Third maybe based on a WoW battleground location is my guess.
Specifically, Alterac Valley. The teaser background looks snowy to me, and rescuing griffon riders is a thing from classic AV, which matches both year name and the feather we see. (The feather could also be the harpies from classic AV.)
His voiceline is about assembling mercenaries, so I doubt that he is one itself.
That's a good point! Maybe he's going to be a figure head in the mode? As in the guy sending you out on your missions or something. Would actually make sense since he is from "Gadgetzan! Where the gangs rule the streets!" LOL
Wronchi should animate all of Hearthstone forever.
I think Primordial Protector is good enough to see play in the right deck. Very curious to see the full pool of 7, 8, 9 , and 10 cost minions once the full set is revealed. If there's a few low-stat duds at a certain cost it could make a huge difference in viability. Right now it would obviously fit in Survival of the Fittest/Y'Shaarj Druid.
That video made my morning
Priest and Rogue are two classes that don't really need 4 drops
I'm thinking Secret Kazakus Rogue
Edit: Actually Priest only has 4 mana board clears right now so maybe not Priest.
Kazukus still no dragon form :(
The face of Mankrik really hit my hearth T_T
