Although the patch 20.2 notes were not very long for Duels, we've got some very noteworthy updates to the mode!
The first major update involves some new tech which is going to give us more consistency in our deckbuilding. Now, we will be offered treasures that better synergize with the cards in our deck. This should allow us to play with more dependable outcomes which could potentially lead to increased success with certain types of decks. Blizzard has also provided Paladins a nerf, increasing the mana cost of Humble Blessings up to 4 mana, from 3. This delay should curb some of their power, making things feel a bit more fair.
On the meme side of things, we've got an update that has unbanned Nozdormu the Eternal, so have fun the next time Nozdormu Day, the 15th of every month, comes around.
Patch 20.2 arrives on May 4 and contains a huge update to Battlegrounds with the addition of a Quilboar tribe, a Diamond Ragnaros card, and much more.

Am I the only one that would be interested in a Duels mode just like the original Dungeon Run, without the initial deckbuilding? The fact that you can netdeck even here is the main reason I never play it.
But in the orginal Dungeon Run you have got the initial deckbuilding too? The starter decks? Except that "netdecking" is the same for everyone as done by Blizzard, taking the choice and experimentation out of your hands. Isn't that far less interesting to always start with the exact same decks per class?
Currently in Duels there aren't 15 widely agreed upon cards for most heroes and treasures, nor proof the ones being chosen are the best. I'm surprised that would be your reason for not giving it a chance.
Netdecking is exactly what takes "choice and experimentation out of your hands" imho. I wouldn't mind starting with the same 16 cards for each class, it's a minor problem since this mode is (and should be) about drafting: the starting deck shouldn't be as important as it is. The game already starts by giving you the chance to customize your run by making you choose HP and a powerful card, and could be further improved by making you draft other cards even before the first match. Since you draft new cards after every single match, this problem also gets smaller the more far you go in your run. Also, as you said, every class would have a different set of starting cards.
This deckbuilding addon has probably been made in order to make this mode more competitive, but I think there is absolutely no point in that.
Anyway I'm not saying that the current Duels mode should be changed: I understand that people like you could prefer this, what I wanted to say is that there should be the possibility to play Duels in the way I like too, with a different ladder.
