Hearthstone's Getting a Nerf and Buff Patch Next Week With 15 Card Changes - 10 Buffs!

Published 4 years, 6 months ago by

We're getting a round of buffs, and nerfs, in Hearthstone next week. But more importantly, we're getting buffs!

Although no details have been released yet, we've got our own ideas on what buffs and nerfs we'd like to see in the next patch and we'd also love to hear from you. What cards do you hope to see get nerfed and buffs? Let us know in the comments below.

Had some great balance talks over the last few days. 5 nerfs, 10 buffs in next week’s patch. Looking to bring up some underperforming classes/archetypes, there’s some spicy stuff.

  • I think what's more demoralizing is killing your opponent's Taelan Fordring and living with the knowledge that it's 100% guaranteed that they can (and will) burst you for 8 at any moment.

I think a good way to buff Caravans is to give them +1 Attack. That way they won't be so snowbally as they would be with +1 Health or if they triggered at the end of your turn, but at least they'd be vanilla 2/2/3 minions with pseudo-Taunt when traded into.

  • I hope Scabbs will be buffed and at least slightly playable

    • The problem with buffing Scabbs Cutterbutter by reducing his Cost is that he'll be playable with Kazakus, Golem Shaper, which is something I don't feel very excited about.

I think Scabbs just needs a little more time and more cards to be released.

  • Well, the nerfs are fairly obvious. 1 murloc, 2 paladin spells, 1 mage spell. The last one candidate is less obvious. Perhaps its that guy who lost his wife, who is currently pretty much in every deck from control to aggro.

    Buffs:

    4 caravans

    shaman cards. Likely its elementals.

Maybe some druid cards, or some taunt cards.

    • Shaman cards getting buffed is pretty much guaranteed - Alec said they'll give some love to "underperforming classes/archetypes".

As the Spice Lord, I'm really curious to see what the "spicy stuff" he refers to will be. My honest guess is that they're gonna rework a low-impact Legendary that's been very underwhelming and they're going to turn it into a quite powerful tool.

Anyways, I'm so excited about this balance patch - can't wait to see the notes!!

  • Love to see buffs. I'm guessing 1/3 of those will involve Shaman cards. That class is dead, and it's not entirely because of the meta; most of their cards just don't point to a solid game plan, or just plain suck.

As for the nerfs, Crabrider is a certainty at this point. I just want to see Paladin nerfed and knocked off its perch, that class has made my life a living hell right now since most of the decks I want to play just fail against it.

  • From https://www.iyingdi.com/tz/post/5027641 and https://nga.178.com/read.php?tid=26648637&rand=725 :

    - Quilboars are getting massive nerf in BG. Both states and effects.

    - Barrens Blacksmith will be removed from BG

    - 2 neutral cards will be nerfed. One of them is a Murloc.

    - Mage might be nerfed

    • inb4 Fishy Flyer gets nerfed :^)

    • If Mage warrants a nerf, then my (not that wild) guess is that Incanter's Flow is very likely going to get hit.

  • Maybe they will finally buff caravans?

    • 10 buffs sounds an awful lot like all of the caravans are getting buffed.

      • what could you buff them to without breaking them? 1/4? end of turn? both of these are too good imo and will lead to ppl getting run ove by coin paladin caravan

        • That is my fear as well. There's some irony in it if they remove the current 2-mana 1/4 menace by nerfing it and buff some new 1/4s to fill the spot.

There are Caravans that would still feel fair at 1/4 but some, like Paladin, seem quite strong that way. And I don't exactly think Paladin needs help of any sort.

  • So crab, conviction what else?

    • i think hand of andal rather than conviction.

      crab for sure

arbor up is insane, but the deck sucks so idk

      spring water

      incanter's flow

maybe tick? he sucks, but people HATE him. hope they leave him alone tho.

oh, also maybe first day of school which has been OP since all the bad 1-drops got rotated

      • Tickatus corrupted form should be changed to draw 5 cards. Still a strong effect, but the meta can open up to slower archetypes then.

      1. Hopefully First Day of School can no longer generate cards from other classes...Wand Thief and Blackjack Stunner are a bit too much there.
      • Should just generate only neutrals, because getting third copy of paladin 1 drops is also annoying

      • This is quite a good suggestion - I second that!
