Dean "Iksar" Ayala has asked Hearthstone players a question this afternoon on Twitter which makes for good discussion. If you saw our recent recap for his weekly Q&A, you may have seen his talk on "limited-time systems changes" in Hearthstone which is where the team would push out a special event for a few weeks that would change a core system. One of these changes he mentioned was being able to ban a class on the ranked ladder.
That's not what we're being prompted with today though because now, Dean wants to know what players would think about a "Class Bonus Event". Here's how it would work:
- A random class is chosen as your bonus class.
- Winning games with your bonus class gives you double XP and double stars.
- After 3 wins with your bonus class, a new class becomes your bonus one.
Dean does note that this would result in star inflation, making it the easiest time to get to your highest personal best rank ever. With all that in mind, and the fact that they are not currently working on that, what do you think of the idea?
Would you want to see this become a reality? How long do you think such an event should last? Share your thoughts in the comments below or send them on over to Dean directly on Twitter.
Quote From Dean Ayala New Idea: Class Bonus Event
Tell me what you think in the comments. In constructed, a random class is chosen as your bonus class. Winning games with that class gives you double XP and double stars. After 3 wins with your bonus class, it swaps to a new one.
Thoughts?
Yes, this would result in star inflation. Probably would be the easiest time to get to your highest rank ever.
How long would it last? Well, if you think it's a cool idea, how long do you think it *should* last?
No, we aren't working on this right now.

If you only care about relaxed casual games, why would a double stars/xp bonus matter to you at all?
You can just keep doing what you are doing? I mean you can either "play it properly" as you say it, or you can just not participate in any of these which is also absolutely fine. But its too greedy to want to have it both ways.
If you come to relax, then just ignore this and continue to relax. Games can't warp their design around the small (but extremely vocal) group of people who develop completionist anxiety. If that's your issue, I imagine you're MUCH more upset by daily quests, and those aren't going anywhere.
Wouldn't this also just be a dumb thing you can do if you want to? The way I see it, all this does is helps some people get through the rewards track faster and encourages some better diversity on the ladder. Even if folks are playing meta decks, someone that just wants to stick to what they enjoy will probably come out with a higher winrate during such an event because people will be piloting decks that they aren't very good at, granting them more XP for the extra wins.
I don't know. Getting to 100 is really the only part that matters and it isn't exactly a hard feat if you play constructed a few days a week.
This would be great and shake up ladder imo.
