Quote From Joemag You'll have the event cards for about 2 months. We wanted to kick off the Wild cards in a big way as part of Hallow's End but they will last longer than that event.
Quote From Blizzard Legends have told of dangers lurking within the Haunted Temple of Uldum and the grand ancient treasures they conceal. Of course, “treasure” was all anyone had to mention to get Reno and Rafaam on board, and now their sights are set on acquiring the temple’s powerful artifacts for their own campaigns!
It won’t be an easy task, though. While our Heroes and Villains battle to push deeper through the Haunted Temple, the Headless Horseman has resorted to a nefarious contingency and opened a sealed sarcophagus full of WILD terrors. Now it will be up to you to aid the conquests of good, or E.V.I.L, in a race to uncover the tomb’s precious secrets and escape the doom in the tomb!
Step into the Haunted Tomb
The spooky spelunking adventures begin at 10:00 AM PT on October 8 and end at 9:00 AM PT on October 30 – three weeks packed full of new activities to participate in:
Unique Tavern Brawls
Week 1: Doom in the Tomb, Part 1
- Gear up with your favorite member from the League of E.V.I.L and delve into the Haunted Temple, full of the baddest bosses in Uldum! The clock is running, too – race to set the record for the fastest Temple run!
- Rewards
- Complete a run in under 1 hour and earn a Rastakhan’s Rumble Card Pack.
- Complete a run in under 40 minutes to earn a Golden Common Ancient Mysteries!
Week 2: Doom in the Tomb, Part 2
- E.V.I.L has their turn, and now it’s up to Reno and the League of Explorers to join the run and flex their Temple diving speed. New enemies and challenges await!
- Rewards
- Complete a run in under 1 hour and receive a Golden Common Temple Berserker
- Complete a run in under 40 minutes to earn a Golden Rare Generous Mummy
Week 3: The Haunted Carousel
- Get ready for the big mix-up! In this Tavern Brawl, you’ll need to strategize around minions constantly rotating board positions – all while controlling the Horseman’s time-shifted Dreadsteeds!
- Rewards
- Summon 100 Dreadsteeds to earn a Rise of Shadows Card Pack
Treasures from the Tomb
23 cards from across Hearthstone history have been unsealed from Wild and unleashed by the Headless Horseman! Until our next major update, these cards are stepping out of Wild and will be playable in Standard matches. To ensure that everyone can participate in this meta-mixing event, we’ll be granting everyone free copies of each card (these copies cannot be disenchanted or crafted) so they can add these heavy-hitters to their decks and get straight into the action.
These cards will be considered "event" cards, which essentially means that they're temporary copies and not permanent additions to your collection. Even if you already own the cards, you'll still receive these event copies. When the event ends they'll disappear, just like the Headless Horseman himself!

- Players who have an active Arena run when this begins will have their current run ended and will receive an Arena Ticket as compensation.
- To ensure that players have a chance to try out this devilish dual-class deck-building dress-up party, weeks 1 and 2 of this event will award Arena Tickets on login!
- This event will also coincide with our normal Arena rotation. The new Arena sets in rotation will be as follows:

- Blackrock Mountain
- The Grand Tournament
- League of Explorers
- Whispers of the Old Gods
- One Night in Karazhan

Comments
So these cards aren't just staying for the month? but will be around until the next expansion? a whole extra month? That's what they mean by next major update right?
The timeframe of 2 months would match with the expansion cycle, so very likely yes.
Mysterious Challenger isn’t so bad I thought to myself. At least there’s no Avenge...
shit
The old Mysterious Challenger decks kinda relied on on building a board first with slightly overpowered minions, and then firing the christmas tree. I don't think this deck will be as overpowered as before now.
It's still pretty easy to build small board before the big Challenger play. There's also the issue with Noble Defender dying and triggering avenge to give you a massive Challenger even if nothing else is on the board. I'm just saying... prepare to run some secret clear.
Get ready for the big mix-up! In this Tavern Brawl, you’ll need to strategize around minions constantly rotating board positions – all while controlling the Horseman’s time-shifted Dreadsteeds! - Did anyone else notice time-shifted. That sounds like its talking about the pre-nerf dreadsteeds. Deathrattle: when this minion dies, resummon it. If so, thats going to have an impact.
Oooh... Arena is all the wild sets =)
Wait does it mean no classic and no basic too?
I honestly didn’t notice the exclusion of Classic/Basic in that list. I did notice there are 11 sets total. Which now that you point out they are all the Wild sets, yeah... I bet Classic/Basic are excluded. That’s pretty sweet actually!
If you think about it, they have never had that many sets in Arena since they made it Standard years ago, but removing the largest set means adding a few more to replace it. And since the Adventures are only around 35 cards each, you’d need all 11 Wild sets to make up the difference in card pool after removing Classic/Basic.
Should have included some of the HoF too!
HoF are broken cards unfortunately, so including it would make for a bit of an unfun arena... mages lucking out to get Ice Block... Mind Blast was altogether banned in Arena anyway... Sylvanas is also pretty feels bad in arena...
Lol Ice Block in arena :D That card was trash tier and still would be. Probably the biggest tempo dump of all secrets that will not save you anyway 99% of the time. Same goes for Mind Blast actually.
So Paladin actually does get Mysterious Challenger while Warlock gets Renounce Darkness? But why?
If I get your point, I totally agree. Although Mysterious Challenger is thematically to the point, who on earth would Renounce Darkness on Halloween?!
I think that Quest Plot Twist Warlock with Augmented Elekk, that will generate extra cards could be a proper home for Renounce Darkness. Should be fun to play!
Lots of people seem upset/confused as to why Warlock got such a joke card. But I am personally very excited to play this card, and I know that there are plenty of other people who are excited to play this card as well, some people just like the jank/meme decks. Different cards are for different people.
I personally am a sucker for meme cards/decks and my play-style reflects that! What I was conveying with my pun (and thought OP said the same), was that thematically the card doesn't belong in the darkest event of the year, while Mysterious Challenger fits perfectly the description. I don't care about powerhouses and how strong card additions interact with the meta, I'm just all about fun and staying in character for the limited-time event.
I also do not understand the hate for renounce darkness especially considering how it can play in the modern day meta. It will be very fun.
I love Hallow's End!
Blizz kind of sending out a message when one of the cards warlocks are getting is the "stop being a warlock" card lol
Coulda done at least Malchezzar's Imp. There's actual discard support in the last few sets for crying out loud
well, N'zoth benefits Warlock more than any class at the moment
Kind of bummed that this wasn’t an actual announcement but more of a “Hey were doing the annual event this year”.
Kind of sick of these “announcements”.
I mean hell at least tell us timelines of stuff in the pipes that aren’t temporary events/bundles/what ever thing that doesn’t have an impact on HS as a whole.
edit: y’all downvoting me must be content with the standard 3 expansions a year, repetitive dungeon run re-skins, and no actual new game modes/formats
