vanish but it gives you guys. seems good enough
7 mana seems a bit too expensive for Rogue right now, so eh. Hero power is also kind of useless because all Rogue cards are free already.
Will be fun in wild though
Yup, time to finally close up the 500 wins for Rogue... in wild. I'm going to feel so dirty I'll have to scrub me arse with sand.
Ed: Death to the Traitor King! (good tech.. spells cost +2 with a 5/5 body)
This is just a nastier version of Vanish. As a non-rogue player, this brings back mill nightmares. Might be time to go for golden rogue this expansion... if ya can't beat 'em .... braughhh!
I may miss something, but isn't Sleight of Hand pretty underwhelming?
I mean, Shadowcrafter Scabbs's Battlecry is just bonkers, but the hero power seems so niche...
Vs. A dagger for hero power? What is underwhelming about zero (2) mana discount after you vanished the board?
Huh??? How is discounting the card of your choice by 2 every turn not insane?
Because it's only really active from turn 8 onwards, and rogue has the cheapest cards of all classes to begin with so they don't often need any discounts by that stage of the game. It's certainly not useless, but if it was re-cast like the druid hero card and said "set your maximum mana to 12" people wouldn't be so excited, even though that does more or less the same thing a lot of the time.
All that being said, as someone who likes slow rogue decks that use a decent number of quite expensive cards, I welcome the chance to fit more cards into a single turn.
With cards like Vaadner, new iterations of frost nova, battleground announcer, and that snow giant dude, it seems like big decks are being pushed very hard. Vanish would remove the reduction from Vadneer so if Rogue sees play then I imagine this would too.
Its interesting that they are essentially giving you prep as a hero power that works with all cards. Its a little weak in comparison with the other hero cards so far, but can definitely be better with the release of more cards and combos in rogue.
I can see this in garrote rogue, assuming that deck even survives in Alterac, because this is just an immediate board swing with a hero power that essentially enables combos. But the cost is a little problem though, given that most rogues dont tend to ever play the long game, and garrote rogue games will usually end somewhere around turn 7-9.
Maybe some kind of shenanigans with new alex? Then we can bring back tempo contact rogue like in barrens.
0 or 1 mana card -> hero power -> Scabbs Cutterbutter for 2 mana -> Alexstrasza the Life-Binder for 6 mana -> Potion of Illusion for 1 mana. That all adds to 9 or 10 mana.
I've done things like that with Alex before, but it was always a faff to set it up. Certainly the hero card makes it easier to use OG Scabbs with expensive cards, which is great because that was by far the most enjoyable thing to come out of the Barrens for me.
oh thank god. finally some form of board reset/clear. bruh i've missed vanish so much trying to play midrange / control rogue.
They're really bringing back all the old memes. Even Vanish gets to be a thing again. I wonder if that'll backfire horribly.
Is it me or he looks a lot like Kripp?
You're right. Bahaha.
All these seem like fun effects, but I don't see how any of it is supposed to compete with the much faster infinite value from questlines.
which Questlines are you even talking about. Warlock doesn't come down before turn 8-9, Mage is probably dead for good, and most of the other ones don't close out the game the moment they come down (maybe Hunter, but you hardcounter them by playing stealth minions anyways)
Talking about those that are eating Wild alive right now. Sure you may not care about Wild and mostly, neither does the design team. But they're gonna keep printing damaging spells for Hunter and Mage, self damage for Warlock and Pirates for Warrior. It may not be an immediate problem for Standard now, but the threat is always there and these decks are gonna keep getting better. And none of these heroes and long-term value cards really do anything to address that. How long is it going to take for Scabbs to steal the opponent's entire deck vs how long is it going to take for the Juggernaut to kill you while you're doing that? My bet is on the Juggernaut.
And I would be surprised if Questline Mage folded after losing +1 spell damage. Their damage is still infinite with Ignite. As long as they can draw enough cards, and Mage will continue getting card draw in the next 12 months, they'll kill you. Scabbs may be able to steal their Ignites but the other heroes can't. Questline Mage may not look exactly the same after the expansion as it does now but none of the cards revealed so far say to me that Questlines are dead and outmoded.
Wild is just that...
and I love the mode
the Battlecry is fine , but i dont like the hero power 1bit, Mana cheat has been the cause of alot of HS's biggest balance issues, so why make a Free mana cheat hero power -.-
I feel that hero power is just asking to break something/the game in future.
