We've got the first wave of new card reveals for Voyage to the Sunken City! You will want to visit our full guide for all the information about the new expansion.
Update: The Sunken Sweep card is not collectible. Imagine that, blizzard making a goof.
- New Keyword: Colossal!
- The ocean depths are home to many massive monsters unlike anything you’ve seen before. These giant creatures are too big to fit on one card! Minions with the Colossal keyword come with extra appendages that synergize with their main body in powerful ways. These appendages are summoned with the main body, even if the Colossal wasn’t played from hand.
- New Keyword: Dredge!
- Don’t you hate it when the one card you need is at the very bottom of your deck? Not any more! Dredge is a new keyword that lets you look at the bottom three cards of your deck and pick one to bubble up to the top. You can combine these Dredge cards with new Azsharan cards that send a powerful “Sunken” card to the bottom of your deck. Whether it’s sunken treasures, your cool new Legendary, or a well-timed burn spell, Dredge can help you get just what you need.
- New Tribe: Naga!
- The cursed Naga join Hearthstone in this underwater adventure. Naga are a spell-focused minion type that often give you bonuses for playing one or more spells while the Naga are in your hand.

Google Subnautica. It's an experience unlike any other.
Also, I'm guessing you're right that the Colossal +4 means that Xhilag summons 4 tentacles. I think it's also safe to assume that they aren't minions you put in your deck, because it would then contradict Xhilag.
It is. It's called Subnautica and you should definitely play it.
Is it just me or is Bootstrap Sunkeneer just a better Vilespine Slayer? If that's the case, then I'm going to be a very happy boy.
Vilespine Slayer probably wouldn't see play nowadays, so I think that's fine. Plus, if Dredge is popular then shuffling a good card in might be a downside.
It's basically Vilespine with Sap except they can't replay the minion because it goes down their deck. It's pretty nuts if there are big sticky minions that have to be dealt with. Less good against strong battlecries.
I suppose there's the fringe possibility that Dredge becomes a very prominent mechanic, in which case this will probably not see play. That said, we did see a Hooktusk in the video, so it might end up being a filler pirate if Pirate Rogue doesn't get enough support.
Even if Dredge becomes prominent, it would require you to spend extra mana to get the minion back. No matter how you slice it, this is Vilespine Slayer with improved Sap (a card which was removed from Core, presumably for being way too good at what it does)
Oh wow, that trailer was actually really amazing. Haven't been a fan of the last couple ones, they tried way too hard to come up with a theme song that just ended up being a bit cringe, but this....this is good. Someone definitely played Subnautica while coming up with the melody.
Also pretty cool cards so far, very value oriented, lots of deck extensions. Does make we wonder if they're gonna end up nerfing some of the lategame cards from last year just to make sure this expansion doesn't just crash and burn immediately. It's pretty hard to just play cards that give you more cards when Quest Hunter has blown a hole in your face by turn 7.
This is f*cking awesome
Mech Mage on the menu? I want to dust off Snowchugger and Goblin Blastmage! lol
That evil is dead and buried! Don't you go messing with powers beyond your comprehension!
Would Blastmage even see play in Standard if it was part of the core set?
They printed good pirates... Oh noes
Only one pirate and it's a neutral 2-mana rig your next draw. That's not exactly gonna revive Pirate Warrior.
A 2 mana 2/3 'do not very much by itself' might not be a problem in pirate warrior. It depends a bit on whether warrior gets a bunch of pirates.
On the rogue side of things, we saw Hooktusk in the trailer, so it's pretty safe to assume pirate rogue is here to properly join the party. I hope it does a lot of sinking and dredging shananigans, that seems very thematic and mechanically appropriate for rogue, and is a whole lot more interesting than warrior's very linear game plan.
Btw, I really hope Hooktusk is made a portrait in the rewards track. She had some A++ tier emotes in Rumble Run and it would be such a waste to miss the opportunity twice!
dredge is literally "discover a card from your deck", with minor upside off sunken synergy.
the 2/2/3 is way ahead of power curve. think cleric of anshe 1/1/2 same effect with a condition.
Edit: it only goes on top. oops. bad card is bad then.
There's an important distinction to be made here between "Discover a card from your deck" and Dredge: the latter only puts the card on the top of the deck, whereas the former draws it. That's significant, because you aren't getting the card you've Dredged immediately, so the card with Dredge has no immediate effect.
This was the subject of much debate when Sightless Watcher was initially released; despite arguments that having the agency to choose what your next draw would be was a huge benefit, opponents argued that not drawing the card on play was so detrimental that it was difficult to justify running what was, in practice, a vanilla 2-mana 3/2. The debate was settled when the card rather quickly dropped off in play, demonstrating that choosing what you draw and not drawing the card is far inferior to just drawing a card.
The only way I can see Dredge as being significant in the coming expansion is if, as they already have, they print cards that shuffle powerful effects to the bottom of your deck, which you would then need to Dredge up.
Dredge doesn't actually draw it though, right? I think it just puts it on the top of the deck. Kind of like Sightless Watcher but specifically from the bottom 3 cards.
You're right, it doesn't actually draw the card. It puts the dredged card on top of your deck. You can check out the demonstration on the official Hearthstone website to see it work, it has a pretty sick animation
