Hearthstone's Twist Format Gets a Huge Shakeup With 16 Buffs & Nerfs

A new set of Hearthstone patch notes have been released following yesterday's teaser of a fresh set of Twist balance changes. Let's see exactly what's changing in Twist format in Patch 27.4.2.

As with any patch, cards that are nerfed or removed from play will be eligible for a full dust refund for a period of two weeks following the game update. The patch arrives today and here's what Blizzard has to say about it.

Quote From Blizzard

For the Twist-focused changes, we’ve seen that the Wonders format was faster than we wanted, not leaving much room for some of the cards that are evocative of this Wonders era. The adjustments in this patch are targeted at weakening the format’s clearest power outliers, and, at the same time, buffing some late-game payoffs and control tools. We hope that these changes, plus next month’s Twist modifier, will allow some room for slower strategies to exist in the format.

Twist Buffs

In total we're seeing 7 buffs to Twist cards. Do note that these will also apply to the Wild format. More formats, more problems.

Twist Nerfs

A whopping 9 Twist nerfs are arriving with the game update.

More Balance Changes

If you're looking for other balance changes, we've got them all covered in dedicated articles based on the format.

Additionally, Hearthstone Battlegrounds is set to receive a few changes in the update and Duels also gets some love.

  • While these nerfs were definitely needed, I feel control archetypes won't thrive in Twist purely because of Jade Golems. I still remember very vividly how much of a tyrant Jade Druid was when KotFT launched. Add on to the next season's twist rule of XL decks, longer games just means bigger and bigger golems and control decks don't have infinite removal.
