Mana reduction as a persistent theme for an expansion would be fine if they knew how to balance it, but history has told us they struggle with that aspect .
That is some serious lack synergy between Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher and The Azerite Hawk.
Not really. Tae'thelan makes the Hawk cost 1. Who cares if it doesn't further discount the card that's already discounted by up to 9 mana?
Is it worth playing a 4-mana 2/5 to get a 3-mana discount though? None of the excavated treasures cost 5+ so none of them make full use of the cost reduction of Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher and to play a 4-mana 2/5 I want to get a significant return.
It feels like Tae'thelan belongs in a deck that generates a lot of cards, or at least is consistently able to generate some expensive cards. That doesn't synergise with a deck trying to excavate The Azerite Hawk.
"Get a random Titan"? That's not even remotely creative, plus we're referencing the previous set for some reason. Disappointing.
Does Tae'thelan's effect means your 0 cost cards cost 1 as well?
Doubt it. It just prevents higher costs from going up, doesn't increase existing ones. But we'll find out when it releases.
