  • I really wonder how far has team5 thought about the design of The Azerite Scorpion.

Coupled with plenty of excavate options (Drilly the Kid basically fills 5/8 of it by itself with a simple shadowstep), its hard to see how an excavate rogue can ever be outvalued by anything. You'll end up just bouncing the scorpion over and over, and then play tess to test the limits of hearthstone's servers and your opponent's patience.

So, if ever team5 decides to nerf the scorpion, surely half of rogue's set would then be up for dust. Wouldnt it be better just to make the scorpion less value oriented and more stat based or plain burn?

  • Welp, I guess I'm playing every rogue card in this expansion. These cards look insanely fun. Gonna have a field day with wishing well and get 4 Priestess Valishjs in a row.

Also, with the introduction of "or", does Bounty Wrangler give you two coins or one when you activate both conditions at the same time?

  • These Hunter cards seem not very good.

You have to spend 5 mana to make the bovine's effect work.

maybe if you ran the Grimy Goons package they might be better...but the hand buff didn't work that well for Hunter back then, I don't think they will now, either.

  • Shadowstep really needs to go. Whenever I see a battlecry effect I think "oh this works with shadowstep" and guess what, this will work really well with shadowstep, with legendary and a treasure both costing 4 mana. Breakdance is already enough for bouncing effects. I can already see rogue abusing the hell out of excavate and quickdraw cards

  • On the one hand, I want Wishing Well to work with Counterfeit Coin. On the other hand, it'd be pretty thematic if it didn't.

    • I think it's more thematic if it does work. You're a rogue, just cheat the system.

  • Wishing well looks like absolute cancer. Here your 8 mana legendary for 1 mana

    • I can't believe it's an epic too. A lot of legendaries have weaker effect than this. It seems like a bad idea to print this card with titans and collosals in standard.

    • And it triggers from playing a Coin, so you obviously have the 1-Mana required to play it! It's gonna get crazy.

  • If you've Excavated 8 times to meet the Scorpion's demands, then you've done enough to acquire two Scorpions. Something to consider.

    • Do we know if we get the Legendary treasure more than once? I was under the impression that it happens once then you loop into the normal Common/Rare/Epic cycle.

      • I really doubt that's the case. Otherwise, the rogue treasure works only if you hold it in hand for 4 more excavations making it super slow and bad. Plus other classes need to stretch those excavate cards to a maximum in order to get the second legendary treasure so it's not like it's gonna be broken to get more than one.

        • Pretty sure that the rarity cycle is the way it works. But I don't think that would be bad since you know, it's not like excavate only does something when you do it every 4 times. The other rarity treasures are pretty damn strong too. So even if it's slow, the value excavate rogue gets might put the game in a chokehold until the opponent curdles.
