Shudderblock - I like how team5's solution to the toxic nature of shudderwock was to simply to make it impossible to OTK, theorectically. Unfortunately, Im sure there's something to exploit out of this card otherwise it'll just never see play. Im fairly convinced this will remain a contentious card for nerfs within the next two years.
Hagatha the Fabled - It draws you two cards. That's about it. The main reason why shes 5 mana, and why her effect is actually tutoring two spells is to combine her effect with shudderblock. My guess on this card's competitive use: Its gonna have something to do with Wish Upon a Star
[Hearthstone Card (Once upon a time…) Not Found] - The only thing good I have to say about this card is that its reload that comes a turn earlier than Pack the House, which is far better than this card. Realistically however, it'll never see play in competitive.
Wish Upon a Star - On first glance, its too slow. But then when you think about what this card does, basically this gives you such an outsized advantage that you cannot help but feel it'll be worth it despite its cost. I'll say that it has a chance to see play, particularly with hagatha and shudderblock. Its a win con card, and as such should be respected.
Sand Art Elemental - Gives you windfury. And you get to do it again. What's there not to like? Its basically gonna be winning you games
I want to try Shudderblock in an excavate deck. It both makes getting The Azerite Murloc easier and massively boosts the effect.
Unfortunately, it doesn't boost the effect. Transforming a 3-Cost into a 6-cost multiple times while keeping the original cost will still land on a 6-cost. Cost.
There goes the dream :(
I'm never sure which cost gets used by the game. I always found it weird that Grey Sage Parrot would repeat a spell that had been cast with a reduced cost, so then Hearthstone used the printed cost. Similarly The Azerite Rat can resurrect Reska, the Pit Boss or Chained Guardian even when they cost zero.
I think that once the card leaves your hand, the cost goes back to the original one. It's obvious with the minions, since they're on the board, but that probably goes for the spells too, you just can't easily see it. Meanwhile, the cards in hand take into account the current cost.
Really wish Hearthstone had a proper graveyard.
Since minions on the board don't remember cost changes, would Shudderblock into The Azerite Murloc have a 9-cost evolve on the board?
It always irritated me that cards like Goldshire Gnoll forgot about cost reductions when they are on the board. The text should still be active. It would have made evolve shaman far less obnoxious.
Actually, they added Mountain Giant back to core, so that's where it lands. First evolve is a random 9-drop, second is Mountain Giant, and third does nothing/transforms into another 12-drop, since there's no 15-cost card.
Baking Soda Volcano has an exaggerated power for what it offers, surpassing Don't Stand in the Fire! It also makes a reference to Volcano
Wish Upon a Star I don't think it's playable, it's currently very slow and worse for shaman
Pop-Up Book is another excellent 10/10 card, like Baking Soda Volcano, perhaps not as speculative as it sounds but very effective
I always liked Swampqueen Hagatha to combine it with Heart of Vir'naal although it is very slow but I like its effect and this new Hagatha is better because it draws cards from your deck that can perfectly plan instead of random options
Handbuff Shaman becoming a thing?
Oh, this? This is Juicy!
Turn 5: Hagatha the Fabled into Wish Upon a Star.
Turn 6: Shudderblock
Turn 7: The Slime that plays Wish Upon a Star for a 6/9 (nice) buff across the board. And hand. And deck.
Turn 8: Mini Shudderblock into 4 9/16 untargetable minions with Taunt.
Turn 9: Find out why opponent didn't concede/Cry after Twisting Nether, depending on the situation.
Also, quick prediction: All 3 remaining members of the League of E.V.I.L. will also make appearances, and the other minion will be a toy version of an existing legendary.
Shudderblocked battlecries can't damage the enemy hero. But they can give you extra attack and windfury...with which to damage the enemy hero.
Wondering how this will work with Ashen Elemental--how do you guys read it? I feel like the wording of the card as "when X, they take Y damage" makes the source of damage a bit ambiguous--is it coming from the draw (and therefore not restricted by Shudderblock's battlecry), or is it coming from Ashen itself (and therefore will not damage the opponent)? Does anyone know?
Ashen does not have to be on the board for the damage to happen, so I don't think it counts as the source of that damage. "They take 2 damage" does seem to imply that there's no real source, so it just might work.
Then again, it's rotating out, so I'll probably never need to worry about it.
Shudderblock on 6 followed by Sand Art + Shudderblock + Sand Art on 7 is (1x4+1x4)x2=16 damage. If you have a Hammer of Twilight equipped (the highest attack weapon Shaman has access to) with full durability and go for a double Rockbiter Weapon, that's (8+4+3+3)x2=36 damage in wild. In Standard, your only option is Turn the Tides for hero Attack and Tempest Hammer is the highest damage weapon, but you'll be limited by mana to (8+4+3)x2=30 damage, so still an OTK technically, assuming a clear board. If it's not, it'll likely be 24 or 27 damage, assuming the enemy hero is low enough for Tempest to trigger. Might be worth to go for Horn of the Windlord instead to reduce the variation and be guaranteed 28 damage.
Damn. That's pretty strong. Keep in mind that I don't expect the Shudderblocks to stack.
Edit: My math is wrong, this is 3 times, NOT 3 more times. So the numbers drop down by 4 across the board.
