This reveal season is going to be a bit different since Blizzard made an oops and leaked all the cards in the set early. All the new cards have already been added to our database, which means you can build decks with them, and they will be be visible on our expansion page for The Great Dark Beyond. This also means you can already start to vote and discuss every single card if you wish, which gives us plenty of time to get scores building for an incredible Community Compendium once the reveal season is over.
But, even though all the cards have been leaked, we will be covering the cards in daily recap articles too. Leaked cards will appear on the website as if they were uncollected in your Hearthstone collection manager, so until they show up as their usual self, take their stats and text with care. We don't know if the cards that were accidentally pushed were final; Blizzard has made last minute balance changes before. Doing daily recaps gives everyone a chance to focus their attention to a select few cards together which will make for good targeted discussion and allow everyone to ignore the leaks if they wish. Obviously, it's going to be hard to completely ignore leaks here on the site, but this may help a little bit if you want to be surprised every day.
Also, we are missing tokens across the board, so any cards with tokens are still slightly in the dark.
Today, Hunter goes to see if extraterrestrial fauna is edible. Let's take a look at the new cards coming in The Great Dark Beyond that were revealed today, October 14, 2024.

It's weird to say a 3 mana 12/12 isn't enough. I love the idea he's cool as heck but just too slow. I like the idea of a consistent deathrattle enabler though.
I love Exarch Naielle and Rangari Scout. Getting to draw and get extra copies of stuff sounds great. Throw in some Detailed Notes and I will makeStranglethorn Heart work!
Exarch Naielle - At first glance you'd think this is a good card, because it virtually allows you to discover/draw a card for 1 mana each turn. But to me the downsides of losing your hp is way worse than drawing cards. Since when has tracking been that great to begin with? Far as I know, its usually cut from hunter decks these days, its win rate isnt even that great.
Gorm the Worldeater - Its just trash unfortunately. If slagmaw sees zero play what makes anyone think this one even has a chance? Doesnt even have rush, so you cant even use the very flavourful Always a Bigger Jormungar when it goes active.
Extraterrestrial Egg - Alien reference, got to love it. The card itself is better than most other eggs so theres that I suppose.
Alright hunter's set looks bad to me. First lets address the discover synergies, I simply dont think these are good enough. Its too centered on getting naielle up early, because the synergy cards are not good without a cheap discover card, of which there arent really that many to begin with. Not to mention, what exactly is the win con here? Having given up the 2 damage hp, you'd hope that hunter gets some extra damage cards for discovering all this stuff, but all we get is parallax cannon and alien encounters, both of which are too contrived to work consistently.
As for the ship synergies, that's anyones guess. Might work because of biopod, but might also just be a dud because youd get destroyed by aggro and you'll never outvalue the likes of druid or warrior.
In Gorm's defense, it's three targeted Deathrattle triggers. Think of it more like Desecrated Graveyard than a Dormant minion. I don't think Hunter has a good enough Deathrattle package in Standard to make that worthwhile, but I also think the card is only superficially similar to Slagmaw.
EDIT: Starship Pieces are also pseudo-Deathrattles, so it can be a way to add those to your Starship without relying on your opponent. I'm actually kinda warming up to the card.
Think its safe to say that deathrattle triggers that dont increase value or at very least keep the initial minion alive is very much an unfavourable option. At least desecrated graveyard actually gives additional value, not that the card itself sees much play when it was in standard.
Besides, with Yelling Yodeler still in standard, most if not all the time, I find my deathrattle minions being popped by my opponent.
As for the starship comment, if your opponent simply ignores it on field, then surely that's no downside to you anyway. Only a few classes can remove the minions without triggering it, I doubt this card is that important that it needs to be included into all hunter starship decks.
I was going to comment that these are the first Discover synergies since Dwarven Archaeologist, but apparently they had to rework that card because it was causing game-breaking bugs. So I guess these are technically the first ever Discover synergy cards.
