Wild zoo priest may become relevant :) Good card, 4/4 stats for 3 at worst scenario.
Every new Priest card they reveal is very exciting knowing that we will have a whole new priest by the time the expansion launches. It really makes you think about priest cards differently.
This card isn't strong alone but with all those priest cards, it makes a lot of sense. Definitely will be a core minion in future Mid-range decks.
Seems pretty bad; sure is a 4\4 in stats in one turn for 3 mana, but it has a requirement;
plus, differently from other buffs, the +2 +2 doesn't have "charge", because it only happens at the end of the turn.
The card would be worth it if it procs twice maybe, but i can't see how a 2/2 can survive a turn, especially with the crazy amount of rush minions.
We have to see the rest of the cards too judge this one, for now i don't see this card getting played
Just a few more years and we'll be able to play a viable tempo priest in wild!
Okay, so its a beefed up Shadow Ascendant. That card saw some play so this one will as well, right?
Not necessarily. At this point, most decks would have some form of removal to deal with minions like this, and likewise to deal with 2 drops. That Shadow Ascendant saw play was because a) Northshire Cleric (the best 1 drop for priest) is an actual threat even without the buff, b) most players ignores/cant deal with 1 drops.
Also, we have yet to see any real 2 drop for priest worth playing. I can imagine maybe in dragon priest (since Faerie Dragon is an actual threat thats hard to remove on 2) but otherwise there needs to be some 4 health 2 drop for priest to make this worth playing. But overall, I still think its too slow to do anything substantial.
Did you check the new basic cards that priest got? There is hell of a lot of snowball potential
I have, but going with the cards we have seen so far, I don't see the snowball.
You've got 2 1 drops, but lets be honest only Scarlet Subjugator's gonna see play but its not a minion you'd play on turn 1. The new 2 drop would be the priest crocalisk (and a damn good one) Kul Tiran Chaplain, but without a 1 drop this is just a crocalisk. Not really hard to remove.
Assuming that the cards really that good. You will still have to draw that amazing curve. Now that priest cant draw for shit, this is another problem.
Oh, and just to illustrate further. Extra Arms is broken as a 2 drop. No so much as a 3. And this card allows you to initiate the attack after buff. Dragonmaw Overseer, does not
Still too early, of course. But my bets on this not making it.
It's not really fair to say that Priest has only two 1-drop minions - we haven't seen the full set, but even so there are perfectly good neutrals like Hot Air Balloon and Blazing Battlemage which make sense in tempo/aggro decks. Hell, when you're talking about following it up with Kul Tiran Chaplain, you could easily imagine running something like Worgen Infiltrator to make sure it sticks and get two 2/3s on turn 2.
Extra Arms was broken at 2 mana because it was so easy to curve Northshire Cleric into it and have an easy way to develop significant card advantage with value trades and your hero power. It's still very powerful on turn 3 if you're controlling the board, it's just not as snowbally. Dragonmaw Overseer can be very snowbally - you only pay for it once for the potential of a lot of +2/+2 buffs, and if your opponent spends their turn 3 or 4 removing it, that just means you've got an untouched buffed unit to bash them in with.
I'm not saying it's going to be a great card, but there's a big difference in potential from Shadow Ascendant. +1 HP is rarely the difference between keeping a particular minion - there are just too many classes with easy ways to deal 1 damage from turn 2 onward (and yet another is incoming with Demon Hunter). Getting +2 HP from the buff can make a world of difference here.
I'm always a little skeptical with buffs that come at the end of the turn. Its basically allowing the opponent to do the trades for you, which is usually not good. That was the case, to a lesser extent, with Shadow Ascendant as well. I can see this working if they print a 2/4 for 2 minion for priest that doesnt come with drawbacks. Otherwise, to get anything stuck on board will always be a challenge for priest, never mind draw the perfect curve.
But again, its still too early to say whether this will be playable or not. But my bet's on not.
It only lets your opponent do the trades for you if you're not able to make value trades and clear your opponent's board. Maybe the classic set changes won't help Priest to do that, but if Priest can hold the board for a couple of turns, the buff can snowball.
I'm soooo happy priest is getting the makeover it is. It was becoming very hard to play that class (my favorite) any longer....
Quite comparable to Shadow Ascendant, with the difference that it costs 1 more and has its buffs doubled.
Exactly what I thought, but it seems to be worth it. This cards seems way stronger.
Well that's a card we'll se in BG, guessing 5 star unit tbh.
An angry-looking orc... in priest. OK then.
Artwork aside, if priest can stick minions in the first couple of turns this can be very strong, and will certainly feel crazy when your opponent cannot get rid of it. The requirement of actually having another minion, and it only totaling 4/4 stats the first turn means it should be fair in reality, especially as a 3 mana 2/2 doesn't feel nearly as good on its own as a 2 mana 2/2 (I'm looking at you Shadow Ascendant).
Why is he holding a Boot?
That is his Booterang. There are many like it but that one is his. As an overseer he uses that Booterang to sow terror into the hearts of defiant peons. Proper use of the booterang instills obedience and ensures subservience.

Great! Now I have even more Questions! XD
Midrange Priest might become a new decent archetype.
