"Complete the pattern. Solve the Puzzle. Turn the key."
This is my variant on Hell-lander, um, Highlander Pocket Mage. Really only the combination of a few cards is different from most, as all the cards are certainly being used in other people's builds, just not usually this exact list. I prefer Witchwood Piper to the Sandbinder, because I do not run Mountain Giant or Khadgar, favoring Barista Lynchen and Archmage Arugal.
This gives you several ways to get Zephrys the Great more than once, and if you draw him before those enablers, the Witchwood Piper still combos with Archmage Arugal and/or Barista Lynchen to grab multiple minions from your deck, especially nice after the Luna's Pocket Galaxy has been played and without the elemental restriction of Sandbinder.
With Pinhead's Lament Configuration, um, I mean the Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron, King Phaoris makes more sense than Mountain Giant, for those who enjoy its game saving and swinging potential like I do.
This deck does run Doomsayer to complement the various freeze spells and add one more early board clear/stall option, as well as Blast Wave (while retaining Blizzard and Flamestrike) in addition to Reno the Relicologist.
The deck contains numerous circular synergies. Feels to me like there are more than in other builds.
I do NOT run [Hearthstone Card (Sand Witch Naga) Not Found], partly because I do not find I need the discounts enough to risk raising the cost of the cheaper spells (especially with the added AoE). I just play them full cost, unless I get the Kalecgos discount. You could certainly sub it in, if you like. Also, I do NOT run Polymorph, as I do NOT like to get it off the randomly targeted discover effects in the game, and because it takes an AoE slot up in both the list and the discoveries. I prefer more reliable AoE so the deck is reasonably tuned to aggro, while retaining its control beating tendencies. While this does create more vulnerability to Rez priest, the decks boards can usually deal with any threats they cant push past, and the many freeze options can usually stall the rest.
Its expensive, and though it does well in the meta right now, that could change, so I would not advise trying to craft it all. Do so at your own risk. I have been having better luck with it trying to grind to Legend than others I have tried, but it may just be because it complements my play style (thinking turns ahead, often holding cards and not curving out, when I believe I can get better value by waiting).
If it gets enough attention, I'll add some mulligan and play tips. And some Hellraiser imagery! Thanks! PowerOfCheez
