Reno Jackson, Kaleidosaur Hunter (Scholomance Update)
- Quest Paladin
- Wild
- Fun
This is a deck I first created on Un'Goro's release, when I realised there were way too many really fun cards that synergised with the Paladin Quest to fit in a normal, non-Highlander deck. Since then, I have updated it each expansion and it continues to be one of my favourite decks to play. It is definitely not a deck to climb with, but it does give you some hilarious wins that always take the opponent by surprise.
There are a lot of cards I have experimented with and found don't pull their weight, but they do make good replacements if you are missing anything: Blessing of Wisdom, Crystallizer, Divine Strength, Meanstreet Marshal, Dark Conviction, Desperate Stand, Primalfin Champion, Sir Finley of the Sands, Wild Pyromancer, Coghammer, Moroes, Chillblade Champion, Equality, Ancestral Guardian, Silvermoon Portal, Djinni of Zephyrs, Pharaoh's Blessing, Dinosize, Lay on Hands, Tirion Fordring.
There are also a lot of cards that I know would be really good in this deck, but I just don't have the dust to try them. Feel free to give them a shot and let me know how they do: Eydis Darkbane, High Priest Thekal, Zola the Gorgon, Maiev Shadowsong, Eadric the Pure.
If you play the deck, please let me know how it went. If you have any suggestions for changes, or other cards to try, I am all ears.
Good luck, and happy dino-hunting!
EDIT: There were a TON of new buff Paladin cards released in Ashes of Outland and Scholomance Academy, so I have completely reworked the deck to include some of the best ones. Some of these are so good that the deck is actually now winning a fair bit on ladder! I am thinking about trying to find space for Wild Pyromancer again, as it works so well with some of the new cards, like Libram of Justice, but not sure what to remove at present. I am also experimenting with Argent Braggart and Zilliax.

This is a really fun deck! Just faced of against a Dead Man's Hand Warrior, and we managed to TIE! (When the person that went 1st had his/her 45th turn, which is VERY rare because of fatigue dmg.). 21 atk, 28 HP Divine shield taunt Immortal Prelate (with 2x Spikeridged Steed) MVP! All the Stegodons managed to protect my tokens, so my opponent couldn't mill the Immortal Prelate by filling my hand with Libram of Wisdoms! Also i don't have The Voraxx, so i slotted in Sir Finley of the Sands. Helped out a lot because i managed to get the ODD Paladin HP for more tokens against the never ending amount of Khartut Defenders! Loving the deck right now! (And in case you wondered, yes. That Dead Man's Hand Warrior did send my a friend request lol.)
Also i slotted in Zilliax instead of Wickerflame Burnbristle, and it worked nicely. Zilliax + Blessing of Authority is a really nice heal and removal. One suggestion i have for the deck is maybe you could slot in Eydis Darkbane. that might helps out a lot when you have a giant amount of Libram of Wisdoms in a control vs control matchup, but i can't really test it considering i don't have Eydis Darkbane myself... (And it might be hard to slot in i guess...)
Haha, amazing. It is a real testament to the value in the deck that it can hold out against DMH.
Ziliax is a really good replacement for Wickerflame, and honestly might just be better... I'll have to try it. Wickerflame's only advantage is the lower cost, but that is rarely an issue when trying to protect big threats late game, and the Rush would be phenomenal for recovery.
Eydis is a fantastic shout. I wish I had her to try that. The machine gun with the 0-cost Librams would be glorious.
Thanks for trying it and thanks for the feedback. I'll add those suggestions to the guide! :)
I took your deck and made a few small edits with cards I really like.
My additions mostly involved being extra greedy. Zola the Gorgon for ultimate greed, High Priest Thekal (goes really well with Reno), Eadric the Pure (have always loved this card and if you're way behind it's fun to shut your opponent down in one turn), Djinni of Zephyrs (super slow but if you can get him rolling you win and it's a just for fun deck anyway).
Hey! Thanks for trying out the deck, and thanks for your suggestions.
Just played a poor Quest Rouge who was actually probably well ahead, but the great Galvadon, a well timed reno and the "perfect" windfury ruined his day......then I played a big priest...
