This band of Mercs is powerful, flexible, and can handle just about any enemy combo. The key is, as the title indicates, controlling speed. You have numerous abilities here that either slow down (or freeze) your opponents, or speed up your own team. It doesn't matter how much damage your enemy can dish out if you kill or freeze them before they can act!

I usually begin with Lich King, Jaina and Valeera. Lich King ideally chops a Fighter, but I like hitting Grommash if they have him, so he can't use Staggering Slam at speed 2 anymore. I can't wait until I unlock the Frostmourne equipment and hit neighbors too.

Jaina should pretty much Ice Floes every turn, to build up tons of Frost damage. Ice Block means she'll probably stick around to boost Varden's attacks too.

Valeera typically uses Fan of Knives on turn 1 so someone can set up her combo on turn 2. After that she can be stealthed, and Lich King will probably have been killed, so bringing in Diablo can be really strong, since he can do Fire Stomp super fast thanks to Valeera. If Jaina sticks around long enough, combine Ice Floes with Apocalypse for some major damage on anyone you choose.

Varden is a great choice here too, as they can maybe pull off a good Cold Snap. Canceling your opponent's whole turn can straight up win you the match.

Don't underestimate Cairne either. He can slow down enemies or speed up your own team, and he's hard to kill thanks to Reincarnation.
