Blackrock Mountain

Blackrock Mountain is a Hearthstone patch released on March 31, 2015. It was versioned 2.4.0 with the build number 8311. It was released during the expansion Blackrock Mountain

Card Changes

New Collectible Cards

New cards have been added to the game.

New Druid Cards

  • Volcanic Lumberer - The roots, the roots, the roots is on fire!
  • Druid of the Flame - Druids who fought too long in Northrend were easily seduced by Ragnaros; a mug of hot chocolate was generally all it took.

New Hunter Cards

  • Core Rager - It takes a special kind of hunter to venture deep into a firey lava pit and convince a monster who lives there to come home and be a cuddly housepet.
  • Quick Shot - Han shot first.

New Mage Cards

  • Flamewaker - Flamewakers HATE being confused for Flamewalkers. They just wake up fire, they don’t walk on it. Walking on fire is CRAZY.
  • Dragon's Breath - Dragons breathe fire, sure, but did you know they can also breathe Cotton Candy? It's harder to give them a reason to do that, though.

New Paladin Cards

  • Dragon Consort - Everybody wants someone to snuggle with. Even giant armored scaly draconic beasts of destruction.
  • Solemn Vigil - Each year, folk gather in front of Blackrock Mountain to mourn those who were mind-controlled into the lava.

New Priest Cards

  • Resurrect - I walked into the dungeon and noticed a slain adventurer. In his final moments, he had scrawled out a message in the dust on the wall beside him. Two words: "rez plz"
  • Twilight Whelp - The twilight whelps are basically magic-vampires. Despite this, they are not a reference to any popular series of novels.

New Rogue Cards

  • Dark Iron Skulker - He loves skulking. He skulks after hours just for the joy of it, but his friends are pretty worried he'll get burnt out.
  • Gang Up - If you are thinking about visiting Moonbrook, you better roll deep.

New Shaman Cards

  • Lava Shock - Chocolate lava cake is shockingly delicious.
  • Fireguard Destroyer - Ragnaros interviews hundreds of Fire Elementals for the position of "Destroyer" but very few have what it takes.

New Warlock Cards

  • Demonwrath - Demons are not angry most of the time. You have to play this card in order to really bring it out of them.
  • Imp Gang Boss - His imp gang likes to sneak into Stormwind to spraypaint "Ragnaros Rulez" on the Mage Tower.

New Warrior Cards

  • Revenge - This is better than Arcane Explosion, so I guess warriors are finally getting revenge on mages for Mortal Strike being worse than Fireball.
  • Axe Flinger - Once a lowly "Stick Flinger", he's been relentless on the path to his ultimate dream: "Tauren Flinger".

New Neutral Cards

  • Nefarian - They call him "Blackwing" because he's a black dragon...... and he's got wings.
  • Majordomo Executus - You thought Executus turned you into Ragnaros, but really Ragnaros was in you the whole time.
  • Chromaggus - Left head and right head can never agree about what to eat for dinner, so they always end up just eating ramen again.
  • Rend Blackhand - Rend believes he is the True Warchief of the Horde and he keeps editing the wikipedia page for "Warchief of the Horde" to include his picture.
  • Emperor Thaurissan - His second greatest regret is summoning an evil Firelord who enslaved his entire people.
  • Grim Patron - If you love getting your face punched, come to the Grim Guzzler!
  • Dragon Egg - Think of them as bullets for your dragon gun.
  • Drakonid Crusher - Drakonids were created to have all the bad parts of a dragon in the form of a humanoid. But, like, why?
  • Volcanic Drake - Volcanic Drakes breathe lava instead of fire. The antacid vendor at Thorium Point does a brisk business with them.
  • Blackwing Corruptor - He got his name when he gave Blackwing some comic books and rock & roll records.
  • Dragonkin Sorcerer - Dragonkin Sorcerers be all "I'm a wizard" and everyone else be all "daaaaang".
  • Hungry Dragon - Hungry Hungry Dragon is NOT a fun game.
  • Blackwing Technician - This is who you go to when your Blackwing needs a tune up. Don't go to a cut rate Blackwing tune up shop!

Official Patch Notes

Quote From Blizzard

This patch prepares the path to Blackrock Mountain. When Blackrock Mountain goes live on April 2, you’ll be able to unlock the first wing, Blackrock Depths! Though we’re just days away from the opening of the first wing, you can still pre-purchase the entire Blackrock Mountain Adventure, and arm yourself with the limited edition Molten Core card back just in time for your expedition. Don’t miss out! The Molten Core card back goes up in smoke once the Adventure is released.

This patch also features several bug fixes, including a less shaky Hearthstone board, a more baneful Bane of Doom, and a more commanding Warsong Commander. The full patch notes are below!

Blackrock Mountain: A Hearthstone Adventure

  • Blackrock Mountain has been added and will be accessible starting April 2.
  • Blackrock Mountain offers a new single-player campaign to play Hearthstone against challenging NPC adversaries. Blackrock Mountain can be unlocked with gold or real money and can be accessed by players who have unlocked all 9 heroes.
  • Defeat 17 fearsome foes to unlock a total of 31 new Hearthstone cards for your collection, including 5 Legendary cards! Blackrock Mountain cards can easily be searched for within My Collection using the search function.
  • An all-new interactive Blackrock-themed game board awaits you within the Adventure! Discover the surprises that stew in shimmering magma pools, hammer down the fine art of blacksmithing, and more!
  • Overcome 9 nefarious Class Challenges that test your skills with each of the unique classes of Hearthstone!
  • Defeating all of the bosses within a wing unlocks the extremely challenging Heroic Mode of that wing. Defeating all of the bosses of Blackrock Mountain on Heroic mode unlocks a new card back for your collection.
  • Five unique wings await those brave enough to delve into Blackrock Mountain. Each of the five wings are immediately available to purchase with real money or gold, with a new wing unlocking for players to enter each week over the course of April.
    • Blackrock Depths—This sprawling underground city is the stronghold of the Dark Iron Dwarves, thriving deep beneath the surface.
    • Molten Core—Face fiery elemental minions in searing magma tunnels at the heart of Blackrock Mountain.
    • Blackrock Spire—Climb to the heights of Blackrock Mountain to invade Nefarian’s domain and square off against ogres, orcs, and dragonkin!
    • Blackwing Lair—Foil the lord of Blackrock by disrupting his attempts to create the perfect draconic minions.
    • The Hidden Laboratory—The final showdown, where you’ll contend with fiendish technology, horrifying experimental monstrosities, and the mastermind behind them all.

Bug Fixes

  • Friends that are Away on the Battle.net App will no longer be displayed in your online friend count.
  • We’ve nailed the game board to the table: Spells that create screen shaking effects should no longer get your screen stuck in a bad position.
  • Warsong Commander will now give charge to minions summoned by other minions—charge forward!
  • Bane of Doom can now summon any collectible demons. Doom . . . DOOM!
  • Sylvanas will no longer steal a minion that is about to die, which is weird because that’s generally her thing.
  • Vol'jin will no longer kill itself if the only other minion in play is stealthed.
  • Minions that are spawned from a Deathrattle are now targetable sooner. This will affect the Slime from Sludge Belcher, as well as the spawns from Harvest Golem and the Shredders.
  • General bug fixes and UI improvements.
