Am I the only person who thought of Rick Sanchez when I saw this card?
"The spells, the spells have poison Muh-MORTY!"
"Aw Jeeze Rick, why do the spells gotta have poison?"
"It's Team 5, Morty! They want Hunter to be a control class when it's geared for midrange and aggression!"
why does classes like hunter get so much love from blizzard... beyond my understanding...
this card is so broken... for an already tier 1 class, which is tier 1 for what, a few years now? why?
while other classes get nerfed as soon as they reach tier 1 or even before that (e.g. priest)
Great Scott!
This looks pretty nuts but it has limited applications because it's a Hunter card. Hunter lacks good AoE but they have plenty of single target spells and this turns them into hard removal. Particularly, this + Rapid Fire can remove a good amount of stuff including stubborn deathrattle minions. Pretty good.
Hunter doesn't even have good aoe unless they print some in this set, so it is like not too bad if it in this class
Which might be the point. Low cost AoE would make this absolutely insane. In the meantime have fun with explosive trap.
I mean you just kill scary legendary before going face
SNIPE! Listen, fool! You've fallen right into my trap!
I hate to break it to you, but what people call "hunter" is just a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard Morty then it slowly fades leaving you stranded in a failing ladder rank. ... Break the cycle Morty, rise above, focus on demon hunte
The only place for this currently is in face hunter, which already plays many of the cheap spells to go with this.
Our only hope is that there's some crazy cheap AoE spell for hunter thats not revealed yet. Its rare for team5 to design legendaries without something that will at least make it viable.
If there isn't, then this is just strictly a worse Veranus, which despite the higher cost, is a dragon and allows minion trading for the effect, and minion generation is about the best thing hunter has anyway.
Its very similar to Toxmonger, a card with lots of potential at face value, but ultimately never saw much play in standard.
except Veranus costs twice as much while still neeing something to be combined with.
Comparing this to Toxmonger is also disingenouus, because there's a multitude of reason why that card never saw play despite it being reasonably powerful (trust me, I've used it plenty), among them being how difficult it was to hold on to 1-mana rush minions and the only true generator being Halazzi.
That's fair. I will hold on to my opinion until I see all the reveal cards. Rapid Fire and Arcane Shot is just not enough in my opinion to make this card good, or even barely playable.
As an additional bonus, this one will never clear the board with Explosive Trap, while Veranus makes it at least a feasible try.
the thing about Veranus is that she's just a bit too exppensive to be as effective as she could be.
Slate has the advantage of being really cheap, synergizing with cheap spells and also having vanilla stats (meaning it's perfectly acceptable to use him to, for instance, kill a single minion with more than 1 or 2 health and just have him stick on the board as a continuous threat)
I like him. He's my new best friend now.
I was sceptical at first, Hunter doesn't have many removal spellls, but...
This + Explosive Trap:
When your hero is attacked, destroy all enemy minions.
Mass Vaporize... Holy fuck
If I said this I would be downvoted...
But nobody will be dumb enough to attack into explosive trap without killing professor first.
Now that you've said that I want to do exactly that on day 1 of the expansion just to prove you wrong
If it doesn't occur natually, what's the point?
I agree that this is not a valid strategy, the only place this works is in wild with Wandering Monster and that is total chance.
Hunter has some good Damage Spells, but they are rather Lackluster as Removal. Kill Command is a good Example of that: It deals with 1 small/medium sized Minion, but everything else is problematic.
Professor Slate should be great for Midrange/Control, since it really helps with this Problem.
T5, play a 3/4 and kill 2 Things with Rapid Fire sounds really good.
