Fireside Gatherings for this weekend's pre-release of Scholomance Academy are live starting today!
If you want to open your Scholomance Academy packs early so you can start thinking about which decks you really want to build, this weekend was built for you. Today at 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific, 19:00 CEST), the Scholomance Academy pre-release event begins and will let you open your packs early.
- You can open packs from both Scholomance Academy pre-order bundles.
- You cannot purchase additional packs with money or gold. (That is when the expansion launches next week)
- You cannot craft cards.

I got three legendary cards in the 55 packs from the small bundle so it was average, at least. But i'm not happy with the cards themselves. I'm not going to build a whole combo deck around Mozaki, Master Duelist so i'm going to be stuck with Cyclone Mage. I got Mindrender Illucia and i'm happy that i don't need to spend dust crafting her but i don't know what to do with this card outside of combo disruption. And the final one was Infiltrator Lilian, the one card that i REALLY didn't want. I'm not going to play Stealth Rogue (even though i have all cards for the archetype) so this is just going to sit in my collection gathering dust. Bad luck...

What happened to the deck recipe play mode in the fireside gatherings? I remember it was present along with the no cards barred play mode. This way, you can play the new deck recipes with the new cards from SA without having to open them in packs.
And in other news, July season rewards give you SA packs! yay!
Dear Pack Opening Algorithm,
Another quadrimester has passed. We've been saving our gold and many of us their hard earned cash. We are excited for the new expansion, new metas and new mechanics. Scholomance Academy is upon us.
Here's how you can help. Favorable synergistic pack openings results for both myself, and my fellow OOC members.
I want to hear the Innkeeper scream golden legendary like he's just sat down too fast on something sharp. I yearn for those moments where the unrevealed card has that sweet yellow glow around it. And then you exclaim "that's one of the ones I wanted!" and family members look at you like you need some therapy.
Anything you can do to shine your RNG wonderfulness on us in a beneficial way would certainly be appreciated. Trust you are keeping well since they fiddled with you to prevent duplicates of all rarities.

Is there any way to setup a Fireside Gathering and have friends from other places join you? It'd feel quite nice to be able to do that, at the moment.
On mobile it's easy. You have to download a location app, then you can join any fireside gathering around the world.
There are ways to do it, but it's a complicated setup.
I want to open my packs so badly but I can’t risk it because I want to craft gold kel thuzad first haha, wish we could craft so I wouldn’t be so scared to open my packs earl

Question: Why do people want to craft a golden legendary first? Is there something I've been doing wrong? Also, if we are doing private at home, and will have no one at the fireside besides myself, does that mean we can't play with the new cards?
In case you absolutely want a particular golden legendary, you will not want to risk opening a regular version on packs, since having both (golden and regular) is pretty much pointless unless you're swiming in dust.
Well in my book if u can spare dust to craft a golden legendary it means you are swimming in dust already
Personally, I would craft a cool golden legendary and shoehorn it in every single jank deck instead of 2 on-meta, off-meta, on-meta, off-meta ones. But thats just me.
I feel that on a spiritual level. That's exactly how my pack openings went. Got 4 golden legendaries (out of 13), and 2 were bunk imo. O.o
I tell myself every expansion that I will save my pack opening for launch day and here I am waiting for my private event to start because I'm just a big kid and can't wait :D

I would totally love to do this, but I am in no way wanting to attend a Fireside with the current health situation. I know that there are work arounds for it, but honestly, the base reason why you would want to attend a Fireside is to interact in person and since Covid is rampant I feel like we are being hindered.
All you have to do is create a private event at your own home. You can't even host a public event.
