On one hand this is a great lategame bomb that needs to be dealt with or it invalidates all future trades for your opponent.
On the other hand it costs 8-mana.
In either case it's a great drop from Lightforged Crusader (especially on curve)
[Hearthstone Card (
Subdue
) Not Found]
is probably still a better choice in terms of removal
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I'm fairly sure that in most cases this is just a 3/12 with poisonous and rush.
Paying 8 mana to remove a single minion is probably too slow for most paladin decks.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Strong card, but paladin needs more offensive cards, and this is one big defensive card that comes a little too late.
Its one of those cards that doesn't win you the game, but when stolen by priest can win the game for them.
Amazing how most paladin cards work like that isn't it.
Seems bad to me, damn too slow and also competes with Tirion Fordring as a late game minion (which is just better) and single card removal? at 8? seline is already quite mediocre itself dunno at least not all legendaries are good which is.. great since you need to craft less of them.
hoping for good dual class paladin legendaries then..
That's the first rush paladin minion, isn't it?
Ghostly Charger.
That card seems good as a control/duel tool.
With 12 health can trade 4 Minions by itself, and paladin have access to several buffs and heals.
Its a must remove for the enemy, and 12 health is hard to kill.
By The Holy Light!
If I understand well the effect is BEFORE the attack. So, when played, it kills a minion and leaves a 3/9 body in the field. Not so bad after all ...
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
This card is pretty good, but not great. If a control paladin or slower midrange paladin exists I can see this being played in this, but it won't carry any type of archetype by itself.
Otherwise it would be extremely lame.
This is so good for Big Paladin, and while that archetype is not doing hot, this card definitely helps that archetype. Duel! is especially nutty, completely nullifying the opponent's minion AND being able to attack the second target. Even with Nozdormu the Timeless, this can be played much earlier, having more impact.
Outside of that though, it does seem a bit weaker, but still decent as a way to deal with one minion. Still, you'd want that guy in Big Pally.

So, now you can get this off Zephry's when played on 10mana instead of Tirion or Natalie? I wonder how good it will be then...

No. Zephrys only offers Basic and Classic cards. People will have to find out how good it is by putting the card in their decks
Idk what Turalyon suppose to do in the lore, but yes this is kinda slow. Or maybe we will see card like Duel! which utilize minion to attack, but probably no.
Ahh, I see, thanks. Then it will probably be too slow I guess :(.

Yeah I guess it's a push for that archetype togheter with nozdormu, been trying to push that archetype for a while now..
This effect already exists. It's called poisonous.
Arena > Wild > Standard
On its face, this is a bit to expensive, but you only need to attack a twice before it's awesome. I honestly think this could be very good in a Libram deck where you have some free buffs in hand by the time this guy comes down. They would make him very hard to remove, and he'd have a soft taunt thanks to his ability to kill anything on the board.
Seems like a good control tool. Good stats for it's cost, you generally see these stats on legendary dragons like Malygos and etc. It's better than spells that do this kinda effect like Subdue, mainly because this actually removes a minion. HARD removal (that is not a 2 or more card combo) is something paladin needs, so this will see a lot of play.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Well, theoretically it's closer to a 3/9 Poisonous Rush Divine Shield but pretty much. It's a decent big minion but not threatening enough and Paladins need something else to be good anyways. I'm hoping that they'll announce more support for Control Paladin otherwise this card is just too slow and not impactful enough.
Take my words with a grain of salt. I'm unranked and only play casuals lmao.
It doesn't have a soft taunt on it. As an aggro player I would gladly go face than trade with this minion, even as midrange I would gladly do the same. In fact, I'd argue that a standard 8/8 for 8 with rush would be a scarier dude than this card.
No.
A 3/12 rush with poisonous dies against Deathwing and leaves a 6/6 body when attacks Tirion Fordring.
Its a sweet effect better than poisonous.
By The Holy Light!
Among the mashup of pally ID traits, I never noticed the creeping one that is making minions 3/3 until now.
Official Lorekeeper and Spinner of Tavern Tales
Only really good in big paladin, but otherwise just too expensive. Eh...
The effect is basically like poisonous but only on your turn. Rush means that it can kill anything right away, but it leaves you with a 3/9, which, in most cases, won't survive another turn. If you can get this to kill 2 things it is above average, but I just don't think that will happen often enough for this to be worth playing.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Similar sure, but against any minion with 4 or more attack it’s better. A more accurate comparison is a new Keeper of Uldaman that potentially gets the effect off multiple times.
But unless Pally gets more tools to support this archetype it’ll likely see little play unless generated off other cards.
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
And this would leave a 6/3 body when it attacks Tirion Fordring. So yes, there is a small difference, but only if the minion you're attacking has divine shield.
Edit: My bad. I didn't notice this also set its attack to 3. That makes this card a lot stronger.
Arena > Wild > Standard
This is different from poisonous because it is only active on your turn, and also because in addition to reducing it's health, it also reduces it's attack. This means that no matter what this guy punches, he will always end up as a 3/9.

[Hearthstone Card (Professor Turalyon) Not Found] does seem underwhelming initially when you pay the 8 mana for him; however, this card is pretty strong with Duel! as you get to attack with him twice if you pull it with Duel! based on how Rush works with the spell. This plus First Day of School to help shore up the early game so as not to break your Duel! might allow Big Paladin to be viable in standard. We will just have to wait and see.
Also, [Hearthstone Card (Professor Turalyon) Not Found] doesn't exactly have Poisonous as 1) he doesn't die when attacking 12 Attack targets like Deathwing and 2) if he is attacked by a minion with more than 3 Health on the opponent's turn, that minion's stats won't change.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Really slow control. Chances are you'll use it once before it dies.
Just use or something much cheaper and earlier.
Seems pretty decent altogether, given that Pally doesn’t really have too much in the way of big removal. Could see it seeing play in a Pure Pally list.
Would probably be a lot better with divine shield though.
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Yeah, I guess the "soft taunt" status is going to depend on the match-up, but if this ends up being a tech card for control mirrors (where I expect it does have that "soft taunt" status since it can so easily destroy any large, slow threat your opponent might play), I think that's fine. There are plenty of tools in Libram Paladin to wall up with taunts in the midgame and then use [Hearthstone Card (Professor Turalyon) Not Found] along with cheap buffs to suppress any future threats while you develop your late game.
It's also worth pointing out here that while your example of aggro players ignoring this card is entirely valid, it's also common for aggro decks to try to close the game out as early as turn 6. So this is probably never going to be something you're happy to see in that match-up just on the merits of its cost.
This card on its own is very strong, but sadly it does not fit into any competitive Paladin deck as of now. Maybe in the future.

It's a good card, but in the current meta there aren't a lot of big 1 cards that win the game and if they do, they don't remain in the field so long (unless the Quest warlock misses the discount in Malygos)
I like the effect, but he's just too expensive. He is a strong card, essentially a 3/9 removal with soft-taunt, but I'm not sure that's enough to slot him in. Maybe Pure Paladins run him as additional late game and as single-card removal rather than relying on a combination of cards, but on face value he's not an auto-include like some of the other cards we've seen.
A very niche use of this is counter stat based effects such as lifesteal. If your opponent had a large lifesteal minion up, using this to remove it reduces the health gain. It also works with Augmented Porcupine in a similar way. I can see it getting play in Paladin, the comparisons to Seline are flawed as Priest has a glut of removal tools, where as Paladins struggle in that area.
This minion is probably one of the more powerful rush minions printed.
Rush minions, on a whole generally have low health for their cost since they're meant to remove enemy minions. Turalyon's 12 health is massive compared to other collectible rush minions, and his effect when he attacks guarantees he will kill whatever he attacks, save any poisonous minions.
Other players have made the connection of using Turalyon with DUEL! to try and remove a high target threat from their opponents deck.
with Paladin's access to good healing it's also possible to keep Turalyon alive to use him as removal for the rest of the game.
His power also makes him a high priority draft in the Arena, as minions it will be hard to draft removal against him for your opponents, assuming you get to 8 mana and draw him on curve.
Hard single removal with possibly a couple of uses. Very good, but also expensive and maybe a bit slow.
Does remind me of Sunkeeper Tarim, to some extend.
Its a slow single target removal on a 3/9 stick; not grandiose nor bad.
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Really neat removal option, but also expensive and is beaten by divine shield.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
I like this card, not sure if it is good, but it is non-combo hard removal with a body.
As others have mentioned, the mana cost is what hurts this card. I think it needs to have windfury to justify the mana cost. So with rush, this could hard remove 2 minions and leave behind a 3/6 body. Or lower the health and mana cost to make it more flexible.
This is the first thing that came to mind as well. I loved mid-range pally years ago, this card sort of gives the vibe of that time for me.
I agree with the assessment that this is in essence poisonous with Rush. With a one difference, It is almost guaranteed to survive (unless target minion is poisonous).
One clarification though, if this attacks a divine shield minion, will the 3/3 transformation persist after the attack? For example, opponent drops Tirion Fordring, then you drop and attack this next turn. Will tirion survive with 6/6, or 3/3?
[Hearthstone Card (Professor Turalyon) Not Found]: "... and that, my students, is how you turn a dragon into a whelp!"
Keeper of Uldaman: *yawn*
Sunkeeper Tarim: *zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*
Exaclty my toughts :)
And like you mentioned it can be played earlier with Nozdormu :)
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
It actually puts quite a lot of pressure on the board. For 8 mana, it will destroy any minion (unless it has Divine Shield, but that doesn't happen often enough to be a deal breaker) and leave a 3/9 on the board. Your opponent won't to play a big minion into it if they can't kill it since it will just die again.
Honestly, I think it could be quite a strong card.
The design of this card is beautiful considering how it implements the 3/3 mechanic Paladin has. I really like this card even when considering it's not that powerful.
That being said, where the hell are the midgame Rush minions for Paladin to actually represent a class that controls the board through minion combat? Blizzard could have a Warrior-like tanky class that fights the board through fast minions, where Warrior abuses damaged minions to gain advantage with cards like Rampage or Battle Rage and Paladin could have their healing mechanic actually have a hope to work decently.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
I think it's one of the weaker Legendaries of this Set. Like, yeah, it clears a big Minion... but your spending 8 Mana for it. And then it gets removed. Because its T8.
ArtStation | Twitter
I don't like it. 8 mana are too much for a card that just trade a minion and after that is just a 3/9 in the enemy turn on turn 8/9 (if played on curve). Even if it's played in some cheating way i don't think it's too strong. Can enable some trade but not much more
Seems extra to me, paladin doesn't have great tools for control right now and I can't see this card doing anything in a midrange or aggressive deck. Just too clunky and slow unless somehow a Big deck is able to take a dominant stance in the meta, which lol big decks.
Cardboard wizard and dog haver.
I've waiting for a Turalyon card since Beta. I don't love what he ended up being
Overcoasted removal that stills needs to bypass taunts. Great in arena, but in standard right now Paladin is all over the place and this won't help at all.
I think this one is better than some streamers think (at least pre testing, not watching any gameplay)
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Decent but expensive removal tbh. Atleast you can play it with DUEL!
I guess that's what he was intended for, as the Paladin deck recipe for the expansion is Duel/Big Paladin.
For the card itself, I think there's a good chance it ends up being a solid card. Unless the meta is Tempo/Aggro.
Hadn't considered that Duel would activate its ability.
Do we find out how he ended up on Argus?
Mediocre effect, but not terrible, might see play, it's a 50/50.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Nice effect. Too bad it's a legendary. :/
The art is amazing and the effect is real nice, rush means you can instantly deal with a big threat and the life makes it so it can at least survive for more than 1 turn
All hail the banshee queen.
It's okay, but expensive. I don't think I'd run it.
Cool effect/idea, but probably too slow for most deck lists.
Maybe this card helps push Duel!/big Paladin with the helps of Commencement?
Lore nerd mode on: What the f@#$ is doing Turalyon in Scholomance. He must be on the Vindicaar fighting the Burning Legion across the universe
Great against solo big minions but needs support to remain a good and contentious card on the board.
Should cost 6 and vame smaller stats
-=alfi=-
It's decent. Not great, not bad....just decent. I feel like this effect could have gone on an epic card.
Thanks to denial, I'm immortal.
This is a good card, but I don't think it's going to see much play this expansion, and maybe not until the next rotation.
It's good, but not great. I think it'll make the cut in a few decks, perhaps if players are missing some other key removal card. I do like the effect though, and I loved Sunkeeper Tarim back in the post-Un'goro meta. Unlike Tarim though, I won't be crafting this Prof.
Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.
Very strong card, as it's likely to make multiple value trades due to its high health total.
A Control Paladin might run this, but I don't know if that deck will exist. 8 mana 3/9 Battlecry: Kill a minion* is good... but not good enough for an aggressive or midrange Paladin deck, I think.
