This will do something, I'm just not entirely sure what.
1-mana spelldamage is unprecedented meaning there's no telling how good that is.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Wow, good card - nice one drop for Mage and it even pushes the Spell Damage Synergy!
I like it!
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
So this must be created to support those spell damage archetype right, at 1 mana and good 1 mana stats surely this will see experimentation and play.
Good statline for a 1-drop, and spell damage is at its most relevant in the early game. Likely to go somewhere, just by virtue of it being a very strong 1-drop.
Not expecting to see this in secret mage, however. This is probably just too low-impact for that deck.
This post is discussing the wild format.
I like it! Good stats for it's cost, and spell damage +1 on it as well! This also has good synergy with that new mage/shaman legendary. Also because of it's low cost this might also see play in some sort of burn mage deck. This card will see plenty of play, might just be the kinda card you slot into your deck because you needed something cheap.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Solid 1-drop for any Mage deck that cares about spell damage synergies or burning the opponent out.
This obviously powercreeps Dalaran Mage! (while also depicting an purple-clad gnome)
Nice 1 drop for mage, which was a long time coming ever since Mana Wyrm got nerfed to hell.
I poured shit on Ras Frostwhisper earlier for its lack of usage in mage, but seem like some sort of spell damage tempo mage that can use this, can actually exist after all.
Looks pretty good to me, surprised it’s not a 1/2 though. Who knows, maybe cheap spell damage isn’t actually as valuable as you’d think
Who needs consistency when you could have fun?
Both stats and effect are nice. I will be happy if they finally make a + spell dmg a meaningful effect.

EU Legend: S52 (ZooHeal Lock); S76 (Highlander Hunter);
Maybe fits on a face mage with cheap spells and spell damage sinergy like Arcane Watcher.
By The Holy Light!
very good card ... it will be included in any (minion) mage deck
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
A turn-one sticky that can give an extra burst of Arcane Missiles, or whatever other cheep spell you are playing? Not super exciting, but could eak you out an early advantage I suppose.
Official Lorekeeper and Spinner of Tavern Tales
Thinking the same, 1 mana spell buff can be applied in a lot of places, also works well with the new mage legendary.
Just a good 1-drop. It is above average and will therefore be played.
Really I am just happy to see Spell Damage be a thing.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
So Dalaran Mage is a 3 mana minion with spell damage +1, with 1/4 in stats that only sees play when players are learning the game playing mage.
for 1 health less, but for 2 mana cheaper, this minion will absolutely see play in mage decks. No even necessarily as a tempo play, but it's flexibility will allow for extra damage for single target removal or an AOE board clear that mages love to cast.
In this set alone Mage has received Combustion which is a cheap 3 mana removal that deals 4 to a target and deals the excess damage to the neighboring minions, along with Ras Frostwhisperer, whose 1 damage AOE is improved with spell damage.
It has a soft taunt, however. Once he lands on the board you'll want to protect him like you would your sorcerer's apprentices or the Mana Wyrms. Aggressive decks have taken to using Beaming Sidekick and Guardian Augmerchant to protect their high value targets from cheap removal, so the aggressive mage might comeback with this minion and Ras Frostwhisperer.
tempo mage doesn't really have good 1 drops.. seems to be the archtype pushed this expansion.. after the death of Mana Wyrm (should be buffed.. :( ) this card actually is pretty good and will probably be the flagship card for tempo mage for the next 1.5 years..
5/5 easily.
Only Mage deck i might say doesn't run this is Highlander since you'd want your cards to have a bit more of an impact, but that's only a maybe. By and large I expect to see this card in many deck lists.
Oof. I think Blizz is walking on thin ice with this one. I think there's a good reason why the game hasn't seen a 1-mana minion with Spell Damage just yet, because it allows for combo shenanigans. This may reinvigorate old Freeze Mage in Wild, as these two replace the 4 mana 2/2, but due to their dominance with other variants, I doubt they would think of that.
This can definitely help Tempo Mage thanks to great early stats and Spell Damage to clear more stuff, but I doubt Tempo Mage will recover ever again after the nerf to Mana Wyrm. Highlander will have a hard time fitting in this fella. Cyclone Mage may be it's better home.
3/5

I was thinking we'd get this card in the game at some point. This seems to just be the new auto-pick Spell Damage card for Mage.
1-mana 1/3 with en effect is always good. And mage had been missing one since pre-nerf Mana Wyrm. Jaina should be really happy about this
Spell damage mage is starting to look legit. It also seems like a great answer to all these swarm cards being revealed.
Overpowered card. This will carry tempo mage for the next year.
Exciting as a mage player!

Not game-breaking or anything, but this can support a lot of crazy shenanigans!

BECAUSE WE DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH 1 MANA 1/3 MINIONS RIGHT
This ain't no place for a hero
Auto-include in any mage deck except control, but I guess if Dwarven Sharpshooter wasn't nerfed, neither will this?
Good stats and effect for early game and good combo piece with some board clear spell for later game. Seems like a very versatile 1-drop for decks that use a lot of spells. No doubt that will find its way to mage decks.
T1 Lab Partner
T2 Frostbolt
T3 Sorcerer's Apprentice + Frostbolt
T4 Sorcerer's Apprentice + Fireball
While not on Flamewaker levels of annoyance, this is an example of a curve with insane reach a possibly face damage pressure. Tempo mage could reemerge thanks to this guy and, for example, Mozaki, Master Duelist as high end on the deck.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Its is a solid one drop, with or without the spell damage, it is just this much more convenient that he has !

Spellbook Binder enabler.

Mage finally gets a 1/1/3 to replace Mana Wyrm. This is a really strong one too. 1 mana + spell damage is going to be dangerous in Mage.
Could be really dangerous, if Tempo Mage will be a Thing.
A 1-Drop that's great for early Trades AND enhances your Burn? That has to be good.

For 1 mana drops, it's a strong card (anche the +1 spellpower can be used well in mage with new card). We will see it a lot probably
One drops are cool, especially with relevant abilities. Not sure what this will be in but it'll probably see play if mage is a decent class, especially if some tempo mage deck were to arise.
Cardboard wizard and dog haver.
A 1 1/3 is always good
1/3 do nothing saw play... This also has an upside...
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Really good, Mage needed a new solid one drop.
1 mana 1/3 will see play.
Awesome card. Probably will get nerf.
Cheap with meh stats for spell dmg decks
All hail the banshee queen.
One of the most solid 1-mana card of this expansion and even of the season.
Xbox gamertag - Psymonjet
Absurd 1 drop that even Mage wants to run in every deck, especially with the new spell damage support.
5/5 - I expect we will see this until it rotates or is nerfed.
Great card for Mage. Nice body with a good effect that will fit in nicely with a few decks.
Cheap enough, good health, plays along with the theme. Expect to see a lot of those in the near future.
Nice!

Auto-include in all Spell damage decks for me.
Thanks to denial, I'm immortal.
Very good stats for a 1 mana drop with an upside. Excellent card
With all the other spell damage support this set, this will be played, due to it's cheap cost.
Art wise I feel they missed an opportunity here. If this is a reimagining of how Scholomance was in the past, perhaps the Lab Partner art should have been more similar to Lab Recruiter, to represent this minion in his younger, college days.
Quick! Someone give me something clever to write here.
Solid stats, spell damage, synergy with a T2 Cram Session. I can see this being in a lot of deck.
The trigger for Spell damage decks. About time we got a 1-mana one.
a 1-cost spell damage minion like this is required for the spell damage decks, so mage looks more promising now than shaman.
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I never thought I'd see the day: a 1 mana Spell Damage card, with good stats too! It might be an auto-include à la Northshire Cleric. Both cards have good stats for 1 mana and both have a beneficial effect central to the class they're in.
Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.
Lab Partner almost feels like pre-nerf Mana Wyrm: a 1 mana 1/3 that provides 1 extra damage for each spell cast, but the comparison isn't that clear cut. Lab Partner adds the damage to the spells (and only damaging spells at that) while Mana Wyrm adds the damage to itself. I think pre-nerf Wyrm is better as it contests the board much better than Partner. That being said, I still think Partner makes sense in a Tempo Mage deck, but that deck seems inconsistent going into Scholomance.
For glory, honor, and gold!
Would see play for the statline + Spell Damage alone, but I eagerly await whatever silly combo 1 mana Spell Damage enables. Don't know that it'll ever be oppressive in Standard, and Wild has much better stuff, but I like it anyway.
Welcome to the site!
A good minion for its cost, it might actually see play in conjuction with the new Spell Power related cards.
