Will Corrupt trigger with discounts?

Submitted 4 years, 1 month ago by

Basically the title. I wonder if Corrupt can be triggered using discount effects like giants. Another example: You have Kalecgos in play, draw a Corrupt card and proceed to cast Pyroblast for free. Will this fulfill the Corrupt condition? There are similar combos already in the game we might extrapolate from: Dragoncaller Alanna and Anubisath Defender should follow the same rules. Arcane Tyrant would probably be easier to pull off. Can someone tell me if this works?

I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

I dont think this has been said/confirmed anywhere yet, but my assumption would be the same, it should work.

I’m guessing no. Spell effects like Aluneth will summon you a minion of the total cost you paid, not the card’s actual cost. Could be wrong but I believe the price you are paying dictates its trigger if it’s larger

I would assume it looks at the paid cost, not the original cost. That is how most other things that care about costs work.

Just to be sure.. played cards can’t become corrupted anymore right?

Also, would Y’shrash generates uncorrupted versions or does he trigger the corrupt effect himself? Otherwise he would lose a lot of power.

Y'Shaarj, the Defiler explicitly says "Corrupted" in its text, which is the keyword the card gains once the corrupt trigger is met (this is shown in the Fleethoof Pearltusk example from the reveal stream). So, they'll almost certainly all be corrupted versions of the cards.
