That wording tho.. Jeez
Everybody is talking about the new cthun synergy... but what about the prince malchezaar synergy O_
I'm just happy to see something old new again. So if you are all in on shuffle then this card would be better than Assassinate right? It doesn't have to be better or worse than Sap, it could be played in the same deck. They do different things after all. So maybe there will be some other cards in the expansion to complement the shuffle cards we've seen so far.
Feels bad for Assassinate, hopefully Blizzard will make Basic set great again.
Don't worry Assassinate is almost strictly better than this card with Grand Archivist
People call this card uninteresting when Hammer of the Naaru is literally a 6 mana 3/3 weapon that says "summon a big dude". At the very least this cards supports an archetype that Blizzard wants to push for Rogue this expansion. Shuffling cards into your deck comes at a loss of tempo, which is why the shuffle cards from the past like Academic Espionage and Shadow of Death never saw play; they're slow and take too long to reap any significant benefit from them. This card allows you to play those slow value-oriented cards without losing as much tempo. You now gain an immediate benefit from playing cards like [Hearthstone Card (Ticket Seller) Not Found] instead of having to draw the whole deck to get those 3/3s.
Side note, this should technically also work with the new C'Thun, making this a 1 mana assassinate from the get-go.
So this is an auto include with the new C'thun deck, since it reduces the cost of this assassinate to (1).
But the more cards that you draw the more expensive it gets late game.
huh
Then again, the more you draw, the closer you are to a complete C'thun.....
Not very sexy, but I am excited about this card. This card could help with the initial loss of tempo inherent to shuffling. Im very interested to see if this can enable the slow game plan of shuffling.
Assassinate for 0-1 mana. They nerfed preparation first and now they are giving something like that.
They're nerfing the Basic and Classic sets to make sure there is more variation in decks as cards come in and out of Standard. So yes, they are weakening the ever-present cards while still putting powerful cards in new expansions, but that is deliberate.
Meh. Rogue doesn't lack the ability to destroy minions for cheap and Sap is always going to be better because of its potential to prevent deathrattles/reborn. This also doesn't help with the slow nature of shuffle synergies. Uninspired and uninteresting.
Coerce
Vendetta gets played, so there is a demand for removal in Rogue.
Sap isn't always better: for battlecry minions, you'd rather remove them than return them to hand. It depends on the meta; currently we have a lot of battlecries, but with Darkmoon deathrattles could make a comeback.
Rogue sure has a lot of shuffle mechanics, I can totally see this at 0 mana sometimes. But it is already strong at below 4 mana.
It also works with bombs too if I am not wrong, lol.
Interesting, in a C'thun deck (the new one that is) I assume this card starts as a 1 mana Assassinate.
Its bland, but definitely strong. Most of the time this will be 2 mana or cheaper, but the real question is whether Sap is simply the better card here, especially given that the condition, while not necessarily hard to accomplish, is still a relevant obstacle for a removal card.
Since the worst case scenario is a fair card by most classes standards, I think you'd still use this if you have a significant amount of shuffling going on. If Libram Pally continues to be a thing, you'd want to keep Saps too, but that deck has more than enough big stuff to destroy if you are playing a slow game.
The real question will be how it compares to Coerce. Maybe a reliable 3 mana cost is good enough, or maybe having it cost 0 to make that Shek'zara turn 6 much less slow is important.
Very uninteresting card. That mostly everyone saw coming.
Downvote me all you want but you know I'm right. Its assassinate, but tweaked slightly to go with the "new" shuffle style rogue is getting. And in the comments it's the same old argument of "but is it better than sap tho" Its uninteresting and bland and it doesnt encourage any new thinking or way to play the game. It's just another form of removal for rogue to randomly discover and shit on you in game with.
