So this tells me that DH is either going to get some board positioning effects or they are going to start going into a deathrattle direction. Although I don’t really see the connection between deathrattles and Demon Hunters, I’m always open to more ways for both players to be able to pseudo play around things especially in the way DH will be using both outcast on the board and in their hand
I see a class getting a deathrattle synergy, I click like.
Perhaps the most underwhelming set of cards from dhunters I've seen in some time. Kurtrus Ashfallen can and will be played around until the cows come home, and Razorfen Beastmaster have apparently forgotten to wear the correct shade of green, because it absolutely feels like a hunter card.
Oh well, we play with what we're given. Kurtrus isn't 100% trash, just very clunky, owing to his bizarre poor attacking stats. One would think that his attack should at very least be the higher of the two, but guess not. So aside from the fact that your opponent can play around him, his poor 3 attack wouldn't likely kill anything but the smallest minions, and to top it up its almost mandatorily required to be outcasted otherwise his poor 4 health means he gets destroyed before he even launches his second attack.
You can get it off Illidari Studies but then again why the hell would you pick this over everything else, like Vilefiend Trainer or even Star Student Stelina, or god forbid, Skull of Gul'dan
As for the pig, the only thing I can think of so far is Nerubian Egg. But since this card merely summons it without triggering anything, its hardly going to start setting the world on fire. I expect to see more support for this guy, but that's one really tall mountain to climb just to make this card playable.
I don't know if Nerubian egg would be a good choice for this minion, DH doesn't really have any spells that can give a 0 attack minion any attack, or activate deathrattles (so far). I think a more aggressive deathrattle minion would probably be better suited for this effect.
I was actually thinking of a deck with Dire Wolf Alpha since it also synergizes with Kurtrus. And there's no proper 4 cost and below deathrattle in dhunters except for Renowned Performer, which incidentally would also do well with direwolf alpha.
But you're right, nerubian egg wouldn't be easy to fit into dhunter decks.
Oh, look, DH continues to be boring and contrived. What a surprise.
I think I have an explanation for the odd choice of theme for DH.
The class is only a year old and so far has only received support for its initial archetypes (which are standard attack based aggro/midrange, tokens, and big demons).
Beastmaster is the first indicator of a new archetype, which, presumably, is going to be a new take on Deathrattles that seems to be focussed on mediumm-cost deathrattles (instead of all previous deathrattle classes which usually aimed to get very big and impactful deathrattles out, whereas the midrange deathrattle builds rarely succeeded)
The Beastmaster itself looks weird as part of Demon Hunter, but sooner or later they have to expand the visual thematic. Thus far, every demon Hunter card is just some variation of a dude with a blindfold or some demon...which gets a tad boring eventually. Apparently this expansion DH s hanging with the pig people and I think that's just fine. Doesn't make any less sense than Discard Warlock getting pterodactyls and insects during Un'goro
The card art is blurry, but there's always a chance the pig is actually wearing a blindfold, with the usual set of glowing eyes.
Maybe he forgotten to bring it but is assuredly blind on account of being a dhunter minion.
but I don't think he needs to be. No other class really follows this strict "card art must coincide with occupation rule".
Pretty much all the other classes have been diluted in terms of overall aesthetic to the point where the only thing that matters is having a critical mass of thematic cards specific to the class.
Nobody cared that Warlock got Feeding Time, which could have easily been a HUnter card that noone would have questioned. Same goes for other completely random stuff like Omega Agent or Chameleos.
As it stands, the concept of "miscellaneous NPC, but blind" is already overplayed and would get extremely worn out if we stuck by it. At some point we'd just end up with a Demon Hunter Wisp called Illidari Bumtickler or something.
balanced voidcaller lmao
Two very solid cards and I have no idea if either is good enough to make the cut. Renowned Performer is the only class card with any synergy with Razorfen Beastmaster. The best neutral is.. Fishy Flyer? Nerubian Egg? Sneaky Delinquent? Loot Hoarder? There'd have to be a really good 3-4 mana deathrattle minion in the new set to make it work. Maybe it'll come into its own a few expansions down the line.
Is it just me or does Kurtrus seem weak outside of early game? He only deals 3 damage (technically 6) and you have no way of buffing his damage outside of handbuffs and the only viable way to get him back is to discover him which is just pure rng.
Not that DH getting a weak card is a bad thing (: Hopefully I don't eat my words and get destroyed by this card. Will handbuff DH be a thing?
Don't get me wrong though this is potentially a 5 star card before turn 6.
Handbuffs for DH is suppose to be one of their weaknesses, so I doubt it. They could give them handbuffs, but at this time, it's only neutrals via Costumed Entertainer and Claw Machine.
@Kurtus: who attacks? Minion or Face? I guess Kurtus hinself?
The Beastmaster sounds scary. Could be a possible 7 mana play on turn 3.
deal 3 damage summon a 4 drop isn't a 7 mana play
Oh, I messed up Deathrattle and Battlecry!
was about time DH received fair cards instead of broken ones
They are humbling themselves after putting two buffed king krush's in DH
Did they accidentally put a Hunter card in Demon Hunter?
I legit thought it was a Hunter card before checking the darker color.
