Well, the info was inaccurate. On the theorycrafting stream Firebat played the portal and it does NOT refill the board at the end of every turn, only at the end of your turn. So it's trash-tier.
Fine card as a last resort in Control games but i don't think this is worth building around. Warlock already inflicts too much damage on themselves through Hero Power and there aren't enough reliable sources of healing available to make you last long enough to kill your opponent with Imps. You will probably be out of healing cards by the time you hit fatigue anyway. Your Control opponent will just hold back on their removals to stall you to death and Aggro/Midrange opponents will kill you even faster. Envoy Rustwix could help but i don't really have faith in this kind of strategy.
In order for this to see play, or any deck with kill your own deck warlock to see play, warlock needs a way to not just die to fatigue. Will this be the expansion we get the infinite deck idea thats always been going around? I hope so. Blowing up your own deck just to have alternate ways to shuffle more things in there always exists with rogue, i don't think it wouldn't be a thing in warlock.
Makes a not corrupted tickatus more interesting. Maybe even something we would see
A better Onyxia the Broodmother but with the deck condition it does seem like it will be hard to get any consistency.
LoR devs : Hey we created a new archetype. HS devs: Our archetype.
There will be deep warlock deck but i doubt its consistency. It may see some tinkering in wild discardlock cause of how fast they can draw and still keep pressure
Lor doesn't have a single card that requires you to have an empty deck, besides that we already have Chef Nomi for years.
well i didnt mean completely empty, but the Deep mechanic is from LoR which is with few cards in your deck u can do certain stuff like those other cards that require for u to have 10 or fewer cards, cause in the end game you want this card to win it
HS fan boys just downvoting for no reason. i was just making a joke, i dont even play LoR, but u insecure fanbois need to cry out that ur game is better
The deep mechanic was released after chef nomi. So if anything, LoR copied hearthstone. Secondly, card games USUALLY draw inspiration from each other anyways. It's not like a "if your deck is <X> thin, do this" is a LoR trademark... Thirdly, you're not being downvoted because "hs fan boys are downvoting for no reason" you're being downvoted primarily because your drawing conclusions that aren't related to each other, and secondarily because your attitude is poor and when you get downvoted you resort to ad hominem instead of realizing that your conclusions in life won't always be right.
Let me put it another way, what will happen when one day in the future you go to work and you draw an improper conclusion and a boss or colleague informs you of your wrong conclusion. You going to say "bossman, why are you yelling at me? You're just jealous of my awesome intelligence because I came up with an idea before you!"
I think this is a cool mechanic, at the very least. And on 10 mana you can play this with an empty deck and then play your last C'thun card, so you're guaranteed to draw C'thun next turn and have 6 minions to use for trading. (unless you end up with no space to play C'thun...)
Hmm, this is why I tend to leave deck building to those who understand it!
The problem with this strategy is that I think you want to empty your deck as soon as possible, and chtun pieces don't help on this and also most of the new cards that empty your deck target random cards.
It seemed cool though.
I had a pretty elaborate comment all written up, and as I kept writing I kept leaning further and further away from my original opinion so...I think this is actually pretty nasty with Hemet. Since opposing board clears do essentially nothing to this, it is guaranteed 18 damage coming your opponent's way at all times and you can buff them up with things like Wicked Whispers for an even faster finish. The one major issue with that plan is that without Hemet in hand, the deck kinda...turns off.
As for Standard I think this is thankfully pretty memey unless they get something like Hemet in there. I say thankfully because if this is good, all games end the exact same way.
I smell the "summon 200* Imps from a portal" achievement.
*number may vary
If there's a way to quickly discard your deck, then this might come out in time to be impactful... although I don't think that will be enough.
This is fine for fighting against Tickatus or for long control games. It is a vanilla 5/5 for 5 in worst case
There's Soul Rend. Not the quickest way, but it gets you there. There's also Blood Shard Bristleback that synergises with discarding your deck, but I'm not sure about that one.
What if you destroy the cards you need though?
Yeah that's the main issue with destroying own deck. I think this will be a meme, but maybe they'll reveal a card that returns the destroyed cards. It would still be bad probably, because of inconsistency.
2017: Discard hand
2021: Discard deck
20??: Discard hero
Wasn't the OG Jaraxxus something like Discard Hero? But otherwise great joke :D
