Savory Deviate Delight is my new favorite card, due to fond memories of trying to farm it (both the recipe and the fish) in WoW.
So in the same set they made a better Mutanus with Savory Deviate Delight...
I'm interested to see how Druid and Savory Deviate Delight are going to interact... I don't think Celestial Alignment is the way to go, and I also don't think Lady Anacondra will see much play after the first couple weeks of the patch. With that said, though, I'm low-key excited that Spell Druid might make a comeback, likely as a slower variant of Token Druid running Deviate Dreadfang + Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate as a top end (replacing Exotic Mountseller + Ysera, Unleashed) and perhaps even the Forest Warden Omu + Solar Eclipse + Cenarion Ward combo.
I'm kind of doubtful as to how good that'll wind up being, but Druid has the tools to make the combo much cleaner than before, since Living Seed (Rank 1) can tutor out the Deviate Dreadfangs before you ever play Fungal Fortunes, as well as potentially make them cheaper than Exotic Mountseller was. There's definitely potential for some very broken things (imagine something like a turn 5 tutor into a turn 6 Deviate Dreadfang + Lightning Bloom + Lightning Bloom + Nature Studies + Pride's Fury, or potentially earlier if the Druid ramps). Thing is, though, because the power spike comes at the 6- or 7-mana turn, I'm pretty sure the power level of this kind of theoretical Spell Druid gets kept in check by Priest (Soul Mirror--you'd have to double Pride's Fury to play around Soul Mirror)... and by Rogues running Savory Deviate Delight, since they'll know for certain that you have a Giant Flyfly Snek (TM) in hand if you tutor it (same logic goes for Rogues vs. Taelan Fordring, or any other tutor too, actually).
The point to all my yadda yadda is I'm getting the feeling (from my admittedly limited sources) that a lot of people are worried about Lady Anacondra Celestial Alignment Druid... but I'd actually guess that Deviate Dreadfang Spell Druid will be significantly better than CA Druid, yet it still likely won't ever rise to the level of a tier 1 (or perhaps not even tier 2) deck because of the counters available to two of the stronger classes (and also technically Control Warriors that run Brawl and Lord Barov + Rancor too, but I'd guess that those guys will likely see almost no play for a month or so because so many good/decent decks burn them out waaaaay before they put Humpty Dumpty the Old God together again).
Savory Deviate Delight is not even a druid card
Sorry, I probably got a little too deep in the weeds there and wasn't super clear. I know Savory Deviate Delight is a Rogue card--the point I was making about it was that Snake Spell Druid would probably get countered by both Soul Mirror and Savory Deviate Delight. I'm excited that "Mountseller" Druid might return, but I also recognize that Miracle Rogue can really easily tech to hard counter the snakes.
Well he didn't say it was, did he.
Deviate Dreadfang is an okay card. Pretty strong but I dont see why druid would want to play this because it costs way too much. So team5 must have been haunted by the same exact problem because they immediately went and printed Fangbound Druid in the same set. So, along with Living Seed (Rank 2), we're looking at potentially having a 4 mana Exotic Mountseller around a druid turn 4 which should more or less destroys the enemy board while pressuring for lethal.
Still unlikely to see any serious play because let's face it, nearly every druid would be playing Celestial Alignment with Lady Anacondra.
Savory Deviate Delight is unlikely to ever see deck inclusion because rogue is dependent on key cards more so than any other class. Its basically a nerf to Wandmaker if anything. But once a while you get this off wandmaker and snipe out Alex from your opponent's hand and earn yourself a laugh
I can see weapon rogues playing this card, but as mentioned, it's more likely coming out of wandmaker than actually being included into a deck unironically.
Lady Anacondra/CA druid will not be a thing.
No but I wholeheartedly expect Regis to make a video about it and chuckle while saying "this is INSANE!"
I wonder if "Savory Deviate Delight" is pirate or stealth minion at random, or if you'll get the option to choose whether you both get a pirate or a stealth minion. Typically these effects will say "... at random." in the text if there isn't a choice.
That said, the item this references is an item that transforms you into either a pirate or a ninja AT RANDOM, so suspect this will probably be the same.
I reached out to Blizzard for comment and can confirm that card reveals are done for today.
Sorry, I assumed we were going to see more than this. I would have titled this differently if I knew.
I am still not giving up hope. I'll probably continue refreshing this page every hour or two. lol.
I guess tomorrow's going to be a big day then since the mini-set's launching on Thursday.
Still this is just a frustrating amount of cards to reveal after a long weekend.
thanks for reaching out to Blizz
Fangbound Druid is so good for me. Like holy shit. And it has taunt! Its fucken great. This is the card I wanted to see in the original set.
What i dont like seeing is they're giving combo disruption to the class that randomly generates bullshit every turn, all turn. Great.
will we get cards in 1 minute?
how long can this go on?
find out next time on dragon ball z
Frieza minutes
You have 5 minutes before this planet is destroyed.
Proceed to battle it out for 5 straight episodes.
I don't like how the 1 mana spell is so easily discoverable/gotten from Wand Maker.. Not that I think this will be strong, just that it will be unfun to play against
Having 2 out of 8 cards so far being hard disruption cards seems a little bit worrying. I am hoping that this mini-set won't turn into just a big pile of disruption cards.
Doubt it. What would even the point? Hand disruption is barely being used right now because of how inconsistent it is.
If Glide never made an impact on the meta then none of this ever will either.
