Like the flavor of this card!
Slow but looks strong on face value. Draw 3, gain taunt, rush, and DS.
It grows weaker the later you play it though.
Looks pretty good - get`s good abilities and draws you some card.
Decent Stats too.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Corpsetaker and The Curator on steroids, extremely good. You get an 8 mana 7/7 Taunt Divine Shield Rush which draws 3 cards, which is insanely overstatted. The deckbuilding demands also aren't that big, most non-spell based decks run Rush and Taunt minions anyway, Divine Shield can just be a 1-of. For instance, you can run it in Clown Druid to tutor Animated Broomstick and Carnival Clown, or in N'zoth Paladin to tutor cards like Taelan Fordring, Murgur Murgurgle, Carousel Gryphon, etc. It's great tempo and great value in 1 card. Also will be bonkers in arena.
If it were possible to give 6 stars out of 5, this card will be very close to it.
Basically, it draws 3 cards while likely giving you some defensive options. Downsides are of course, that it can whiff if you draw all those cards needed and the paltry fact that its an 8 drop. But let's be honest, even if its only an 8 mana 7/7 taunt that draws 3 I'd put it in all my decks that's not straight up aggro.
Expect to see this card in the next expansion - very often.
Should be amazing in Libram Paladin. YOu can tutor Taelan, Devout Pupil, Samuro, Broom, etc.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Woah now thats a super cool card! The Curator and Corpsetaker in 1.
The bad thing about it is that it bad late game, because you might have draw most of your divine shield, rush and taunt minions already. But regardless it's 8 mana 7/7, draw 3 cards, gain rush, divine shield and taunt. That's so good.
Decks it might fit in standard: Libram Paladin, N'zoth Paladin, Control Warrior, N'zoth Warrior, and a bunch more. (n'zoth decks really like Varian, King of Stormwind.)
In wild i'm not sure it sees play, because games generally end before turn 5.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
I'm a bit unfamilliar with the wording. So first u will draw a rush minion, and then taunt and ds right. What happened when theres no rush left in the deck? Will he not draw the taunt and ds?
Paladin will love this. I've seen some ideas for Priest as well, but the other classes might struggle to build a deck with this that makes it worth running it without going out of their way too much.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

This has the potential to be the new Zilliax of the set except it comes out three turns later and doesn't heal you. However, if you don't need the heal and you can use this battlecry to its full extent this effect is so much better than Zilliax's. Drawing three cards with this can be an absolute gamechanger.
Arena > Wild > Standard
Varian is back! And he's still drawing 3 cards! Well, that's if you have a Rush, Taunt and DS minion in your deck. I feel like he is just a dual class card for Paladin and Warrior though, with some interesting deck building restrictions. He could see play in other classes that lack card draw, but then you'd need to add some specific minions and not many decks really run DS minions other than Paladin
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
I like the tutored draw he has. As a few have mentioned already, it is a similar effect to Corpsetaker, except that you have to have three distinct cards to get the full effect. He does have the possibility to be a dead draw, but if you get him in the early late game (?) he could be a very strong play.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Playable probably, but because needs to be built around isn't everywhere

As interesting as this looks, I don't have a whole lot of hope for it. Countess Ashmore and The Curator which don't see a lot of play. And Siamat only saw a marginal amount of play and doesn't require your deck to be in a specific state.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Reminds me of Siamat or High Exarch Yrel. Probably too expensive but if you draw 2 and get a trade that's not bad. The third draw is just bonus as I think it's too slow to garentee all 3 are still in the deck. Could see some play for sure.
Also if this isn't one of the two Diamond cards I'd be shocked.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
Neutral draw and a Corpsetaker effect? Solid in my book
Aaaahhh, too bad it depends on the minions in your deck, I would have liked to have another Dr boom kinda card that fits most decks.
Cool card nevertheless, can't wait to hear his summoning music.
This card is insane. Especially in paladin, but every other class checks two out of three boxes. For playable neutral divine shield there's only -so far - [Hearthstone Card (Taelon Fordring) Not Found], Al'Akir the Windlord, Darkmoon Dirigible, maybe Argent Squire.
This is the Control card of the expansion that will go in every deck. The Siamat, Zilliax -type card, with the biggest differences being higher cost and having to build around it a bit a la Corpsetaker. The trade off however is getting to draw up to 3 minions and having higher base stats.
Countess Ashmore has burned me before with her lack of play... but Varian just might be impactful enough to see play despite high cost.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
It's a slower version of Corpsetaker, that also nourishes your hand while buffing your king.
I like this card design, where it takes back element with are familiar with, but combines it in a new unprecedented way
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Yeah, I'm game for this. As long as you don't draw all your other minions first, this will make an immediate impact on the board and also draw you 3 resources. He's expensive, but worth it.

Effect is pretty good, however, Varian, King of Stormwind is far from an auto-include. Not only that, there's also the issue that adding non-synergistic minions to a deck just because of a battlecry might not be the most advisable thing to do (which is especially true for Divine Shielded minions, which exist in smaller numbers). So, the full scope of Varian, King of Stormwind's battlecry is more useful in classes like Paladin, where all 3 keywords exist in relative abundance, and even a possible lack of Rush is compensated by Animated Broomstick, a card that is already very splashable in minion based decks, like Paladin's).
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Requires some build around, but still very nice. Expensive, so there's more risk of having drawn your cards already, so you may want to put 3-4 of each. Not a lot of Divine Shield options outside of Paladin though.
Great, and nice for deckbuilding.
A lot of people forget that it is a 8 mana 7/7 Rush, Taunt, Divine Shield and tutor 3.
Is it worth the 8 mana, heck no, but can come in clutch in a Reno deck.

Diamond version of this looks awesome. Should be worth including and building around in control decks

Draw, removal, protection, what Paladin needs late. Rush Warrior maybe.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
I have been excited about this kinds of cards before... Hope this time it goes better. My hopes seems to be ok being up!
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
Cool card, love the Diamond version of this card. Will definitely see play (also by me).
Seems good - good abilities and draws you some card.
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
Decent stats, draw three and rush immidiatly and survive and protect next turn! This is a nice strong card.
The king of Stormwind is very strong as I wanted to be, for respect to his character. Great draw engine and a lot of keywords. I really like it
The animation of this card (specially the diamond version) is amazing, and it has great flavor as well. As a long time Horde player, I must say Varian is an incredible character, and it's fitting that his card is looking great and strong
Love these cards that draw the cards they're using to buff themselves. Rewards careful deckbuilding and gives you more fuel for later turns. Seems especially good in Handbuff Paladin, where all these keywords are relevant.
