Why make a 3-cost weapon with vanilla stats can't attack face? Just because of lifesteal keyword? And it's an epic card.
*facepalm*
Horrible, even if it could go face there's little to no reason to run this over other weapons. May be better than Truesilver Champion if you play cards like The Glass Knight or Zandalari Templar since you take damage before getting the heal but why would you play those cards in the first place lol
Unless your deck has some healing synergy I don't see why you'd ever want to play this over Underlight Angling Rod.
It's difficult to make this compare well to Underlight Angling Rod, but I do respect the design of this, especially at a time when I'm worn down by what feels like 16 months of aggro. Is it worse than the Angling Rod most of the time? Yes. Is it better if you just want to spite (smite?) aggro? Yes.
Since you're the only one who took the time to forment a thought beyond "card bad ugg zugg. me post count go up" I'll respond to you! I think the intention here was not to print a low impact epic card, but rather to prevent the card from being used in certain archetypes. This isn't horrible, and if paladin was in a meta/world where they needed healing/removal that scaled with attack (or got attack buffs from spells other sources) this could be great even. But simply put this is a weapon/healing card meant to never be put into an aggro player's deck. I think they feared that making it able to hit heroes it would just forment another paladin aggro meta.
While that does make the card feel "underwhelming" from a reveal standpoint that would be my guess as to why it is designed the way it is (also being lifesteal, if it had 4 attack, it would be BETTER than truesilver or underlight rod. So everyone making comments about how the other weapons are better, just remember that by giving this weapon ANY number of stats (attack/charges) actually makes it the de-facto go to weapon for paladin.
There's nothing else to say except the card is garbage. If it was 2 mana then you could argue it has some use against aggro.
Agreed, it is clearly a way to restrict it to defensive archetypes. I guess the heavy-handed approach taken is quite unusual for HS, which would normally take the approach of associating the effect with a synergy instead, e.g. giving it: Battlecry: if you have restored health this turn, gain lifesteal.
I like this approach honestly. Defensive paladins are hardly things that we need to keep in check, so there is no reason to force them to jump through hoops to get the effect.
This is a terrible card lol
should be able to atatck heroes, or if not have 4attack or 3 durablity this
Can't understand why this is epic
Underwhelming.
Just no. Paladin isn't exactly hurting for heals and aside from the fact that this cant even kill your opponent, there's certainly better weapons than this one like Underlight Angling Rod and Sword of the Fallen. Even Truesilver Champion essentially does the job better.
What signals are team5 sending us? Is this card really so OP if it could hit face?
Unless there's like major cards down the line to upgrade weapons I just dont see why this card even need to exist, and as an epic no less.
Or, given that it can't go face, would 4 attack be OP?
4 attack would actually be OP because then its just a cheaper Truesilver Champion. 3 attack is good, but 4 attack is ideal because that means you can kill any 3 drop on curve and secure tempo for two turns. Chances are good your opponent cant play around it and wastes a turn.
I don't think it would be OP. 3 mana 4 attack can't go face? That doesn't sound too strong especially since the power levels of decks will go up every expansion. but having it at 3 attack is definitely balanced.
When spidertank stats get bumped upwards on turn 3 I'll start believing that a 4/2 lifesteal weapon on 3 that cant go face isn't OP. Playing for tempo is just as important as face damage for paladin, and a 4 damage weapon on 3 will reliably kill anything that matters. With two charges that's two turns your opponent has to play around it, and there's not alot that can take 4 damage at turns 3-4.
The main problem with this card isn't really that it cant go face alone, its also because the weapon only deals 3 damage, which is pretty standard as far as 3 costed weapons go. The fact is that there are simply better weapons currently available and paladin has never really lack healing options anyway.
While this would be better than Truesilver on curve if it had 4 attack, in the late game I think it would be a significant drawback that it cannot go face, both because it cannot be used as a finisher and because you might not be able to use it to heal at all if the opponent either has no minions or only high attack minions.
This card is poop
