Just when I thought I lived down the shame from crafting Hobart Grapplehammer
Man, what a dull effect. I wish all legends were exciting.
So what are the only bosses we're missing from Eternal Palace now?
Orgozoa, Zaquul, Queen's court?
Thats a lady? What a woman!?!
I can already tell this is gonna be my free legendary, cause I can't imagine a world where I'm happy opening this.
If this wasn't legendary there could have been some potential for a weapon-focused strat, where you just remove everything your opponents play with spells and smash face with weapon. As legendary it's way too inconsistent to be a main strat and thus is pretty much useless. Now if this was in Rogue, there'd be way more potential with all sorts of weapons (Spectral Cutlass, Kingsbane, Self-Sharpening Sword, Swinetusk Shiv) since Rogue does a much better job capitalising on having a weapon up through all the poisons.
this card is terrible, could have had taunt or even rush and not being a little imbalanced (meaby would have been still bad)
Did we really need this again?
If this is the worst legendary in this expansion, that's definitely saying something
Hedra the Heretic is the worst
I mean Captain Greenskin saw some play in Pirate Warrior back in the day, so I don't see why this would not see any play at all in a more weapon swinging focused Warrior deck. I guess missing a tribe hurts its consistency a bit?
any comment regarding a new card that starts with "I mean, ..." is enough to tell that the card failed
Being a 5 mana 5/5 hurts it a lot. Chances are by turn 5 you are already going to have used at least one weapon. Giving +1/+1 to maybe three weapons is not very good at all. The only weaps in Standard after rotation will be:
Blacksmithing Hammer (barely saw use when it came out, not used now)
War Axe (useless)
Gorehowl (again useless)
Outrider's (decent)
Whetstone Hatchet (people use it but still pretty useless)
So basically you'd be running it to get charges on Outrider's and one Whetstone. Sword Eater won't even be in Standard anymore so you can't use the weap off him. And Krastinov's out of Standard too so you'll lose even more weap support.
I'd say they'd have to introduce two good weapons this set for it to be kind of worth it, and even then it's a worse-than-vanilla statted minion for a maximum of 24 extra damage across the deck, spread across 16 turns.
Wouldn't call a 8-2 Gorehowl useless, back in the day people used it as a finisher 7-1 with Alex. Can't wait to slam someone with that haha.
Something, but not quite as much as it seems. Part of it is that it looks weak contextually since we're in a world where the Juggernaut makes it redundant in the historically obvious deck (pirates). We also know very little about what weapons warrior will have available at this point.
As far as actual weaknesses go, any mass weapon buff hits the issue of only having one weapon usable at a time, which is made worse by increasing their durability. So there are serious diminishing returns with effects like these, and in most games I'd be surprised if its buff applies to more than 2 weapons that are actually used. At which point it's not setting a particularly high bar for 'weakest legendary'.
If you have some kind of weapony control deck, you probably don't mind the extra durability. I'm not sure what that deck would look like, but I'm willing to bet there will be at least one new weapon that will be slightly OP with even a small buff like this.
Except they're removing the weapons that are good with it, Bulwark and Scythe. Hell even Baton would have been pretty good with it.
But with those, Sword Eater, and Krastinov rotating out, Weapon doesnt have a lot of support left.
So you honestly believe they would print this card while adding no new weapons to replace the ones rotating out?
I think that we haven't seen any yet so we can't make that determination.
As it stands, it is not a very good card. They'd have to add something godly to make it playable in the current meta. But most likely it's going to be a card that becomes playable next set, or possibly the final set of the year.
I can't genuinely say if you're saying it in a positive or in a negative way lol
More positive than anything else mostly due to every class getting a Colossal Legendary minion and so far all of them having been exciting. (To me at least)
The effect for Lady Ashvane in comparison to the rest of the Legendary minions seems a bit boring in this day and age of HS. If it were released a few years ago, like in Rastakhan's Rumble, it'd be pretty good.
Just goes to show that even with Team 5 attempting to lower the power level of cards, it can just make cards seem boring on reveal.
