Shouldn't big effect like this cost 3 mana? With 2 mana, the effect is too overwhelming, even with Dormant 1 turn .More over, even the Dormant can be considered not a side effect since we can't do anything to stop the copy in the same turn even if we can.
And even the Shadow Clone secret from Rogue has a higher requirement, it needs to hit face.
I'm not clear how this secret works with Colossal minions, which spawn their appendages no matter how they're summoned.
i.e. Other player kills my Colossal. A new one is summoned, and is dormant. Are its appendages: (a) Summoned right away, and usable right away? (b) Summoned right away, but made dormant, like the main card? (c) Not summoned until the main card wakes up, next turn?
I'm guessing it's (a), based on the behavior of dormant cards with a battlecry (like The Darkness), which trigger their battlecries when they're played, not when they awaken. But of course, Colossal's effect isn't exactly a battlecry, so I'm not sure.
Great use of Dormant. Feels powerful, but fair.
Isn't that easy to play around? Just kill the small Minion first. Or am I missing anything?
You have to build your deck around that weakness. Replace the early game with spells or rush minions.
or just don't play the secret until you can get enough value out of it
Deathrattle Hunter will be tier 1 mark my words.
With what deathrattles? Rodent Nest?
No I wouldn't put that in the deck. There are still some tools left. Yeah it won't be tier 1 but if Hunter gets some more deathrattle support this expansion and in the coreset it could be viable.
Usually, when a minion is copied from battlefield to battlefield (e.g. with Molten Reflection), the copy keeps the original's health and buffs. But this card obviously can't work in the same way. Because if the old minion died from damage, then its Health was 0 or negative, and the copy would die instantly.
So how does this work? Does the copy have the original's health before it died? Is it a full Health copy? Is it a plain copy as in I'll Take That! and thus it doesn't keep buffs?
My stupid brain saw the stupid Paladin Colossal and thought it was a stupid paladin secret, ignoring the stupid cost and the stupid border. NOPE! That would've been too good flavor-wise!
If that hydra is indeed the Hunter Colossus, that means the class is hiding from it's own monster, which is kinda dumb.
Vanndar Beast Hunter to tier 2?
A really wicked secret. Imagine raising the colossal minion back again and then it respawns all its appendages.
The dormancy for 1 turn is there solely to make it almost impossible to go face with the revived minion the following turn. But what this card essentially does is counter a removal card be it spell or battlecry.
This card can legitimately be way too much to handle, because if hunter plays this on turn 5 and then play Mr. Smite on turn 6, that's practically a catch 22 situation where outside of transform effects, there's just no way to deny another 6 damage to the face + whatever pirates hunter may play on 7.
Whatever the case, this card is powerful enough to slot into multiple archetypes that Im fairly convinced we'll see plenty of it next meta.
So Hunter'S Colossal is going to be this big Hydra I assume? Shame, was hoping for a big shark.
Maybe, though warrior already has a hydra minion and the key part of the art here is the ship dodging the big beastie, rather than the hydra itself. So I'm not sure how much we can read into the art here.
There are so few legendaries left to see that we can probably guess at them all now. Ini (the female mecha-gnome) is likely the last neutral. N'Zoth's fish is probably in warlock, perhaps with a bunch of associated cards to quickly make up for the serious lack of warlock reveals so far. There's a colossal minion we know the art for (see video that revealed Crabatoa) which glows so is probably shaman's. That just leave's hunter's colossal, which could be a hydra (3 heads are an obvious route to take for appendages), or maybe Ozumat if we want lots of tentacles.
If it is a hydra, that'll put a smile on my face. Just love those multi headed monsters. Who needs a shark when you have a 3 dragon heads chasing after you.
Considering Gahz'rilla exists, that is disappointing. I would have liked a shark as well; they're my favorite animal.
I think Sharks might just be too difficult to make work with the Colossal concept while a Hydra is just...self-explanatory. 3 heads with different effects. Done.
Meanwhile a Shark could be two parts at best and what does the Sharkfin even do in that case? Just attack also?
