In an interview with the Los Angeles Times today, Blizzard President, Mike Ybarra, has confirmed plans to bring BlizzCon back in 2023.
This news is the latest to come out after at the end of last year, it was announced that this year's BlizzCon(line) was going to be cancelled in favor of reimagining what BlizzCon means. We don't have any other information at this time, and BlizzCon 2023 is almost certainly over a year away at this point, so we ask you: What do you think Blizzard should do for the new BlizzCon?
Quote From Mike Ybarra We previously announced we’re taking a pause on BlizzCon while we reimagine it for the future but do want to return to a live event that enables us to celebrate the community,
We recently hired a new leader of BlizzCon, April McKee, who is hard at work on that plan. … We are committed to bringing back BlizzCon in 2023.

Why would Microsoft allow this at this point? It seems to me that Microsoft would want Blizzard games featured during Microsoft's conferences so Microsoft can control the messaging and marketing not to mention the timing of releases. Does Microsoft really want another 'Don't you guys have cell phones' conference on their hands. Are they really going to allow their subsidiaries to put on their own lavish and expensive shows?
Because blizzcon is an iconic event that tends to attract many viewers by its namesake alone. I cant even remember if mircosoft ever did a conference. Activision may have merged with blizz long ago, but for very obvious reasons its never called acti-blizz con.
Besides, microsoft rules the roost and would probably call the shots anyway.
is anyone still into this?
Wait, are we talking about early 2023 Blizzcon. or Late 2023?
My assumption is they'd do it in the fall, usually first week of November.
yeah, seeing half of the world staring at Diablo Immoral's monetizing model in disbelief, and Blizz confirming that Diablo 4 will be a full-price AAA game WHILE STILL having an ingame shop ... oh boy. better up your tomato-catching skills, because there certainly will be a few flung at you.
alas, one can hope. I still immensely enjoy playing Hearthstone. but I'm not taking my hopes too high for what Blizz's decisions will hold.
As somone who follows multiple Blizzard games I always loved these Blizzcon events. A single big day to look forward to with a bunch of cinematics, huge announcements, followed by hours where the devs go more in depth about what they just announced or just have fun.
This next Blizzcon is going to be one slippery slope for Blizzard to deal with. I wonder how they going to handle all the backlash from the scandals and Diablo Immoral's predatory monetization model.
A lot of fans have realized by now that Blizzard doesn't care about it's players, it cares about player's wallets.
Yeah they better have some things to tell that people will like, like no P2W for Diablo 4, just cosmetic stuff for example
