Golden Hero Portrait - Completionist & Grind

Hey there fellow HearthStone enthusiasts,

I recently edited the original post for timely need, as the last HS patch brought us new achievements in the form of Hero Portrait awarded for completing 1000 ranked victories. New Hero Portraits means new milestones and new achievements ; is an other chapter of The Grind just started ?

I was wondering how far are you guys in the completion of the 9 golden hero portraits (x/500 and x/1000 ranked victory)? Some of you may already have complete all of them and beyond, some of you may just get started or picking up on a single class and some may be awaiting for the right meta to play a certain class. What class are you tackling? Or alternatively, why you couldn't careless about ever achieving it? Or even, which one was your first golden hero? Let me know in the comment down bellow.

I myself went full circle by completing the 500 with Druid & Priest, summer 2017.
My go-to class always been Warlock - which was my 1st golden hero. Rocking well over a 1000 win with it ...
Receiving those new portraits made me want to play those classes I've already complete a thousand wins with, but also made me regain some motivation in playing classes I have left underplayed since the golden completion. I'm looking forward earning Mage and Shaman skin.
My inner-completionist isn't too thrilled about that Hunter skin but knows ...

  • I play my classes pretty evenly except for a low amount of warlock play and a high amount of shaman and rogue.  I hit rogue a year ago, shaman a few days ago.  Probably within the year I’ll be 8/9 because everything else is so even and close. 

  • Hunter was my first. Hit 500 back during MSoG using a Secret Deck back when Hunter was in the gutter. That was a grind... 

    Then came my Paladin (Ashamed to admit I made the final push using Odd Pally in Standard and Wild... I'm sorry...)

    I'm currently working on Shaman (299) and Rogue (303?). 

    Warlock (277ish?) was my next main focus, but when RoS hit... well... RIP Warlock for a bit

    Priest (220?) isn't far behind. I can't bring myself to play Big Priest to farm wins

    Warrior, Mage and Druid are all sitting in the gutter under 50 wins each. Warrior I finally have at lvl 59 which will get me all 9 classes at lvl 60. 

  • I completed this challenge pretty recently. I remember a time when I thought I never would, but here I am. It feels really good to have done it, and I love showing off my golden heroes. Gul'Dan was my first golden hero too!

  • I have all of the goldens. Now I am playing for 1000 wins. Rogue and Hunter got 1000, Mage and Priest is around 900-950, others are around 700 i guess. I'm updating my game so can't give actual numbers.

    Who knows maybe they add something for 1000 wins and more some rewards in some day. :)

  • Just ground out my last one (warlock) last month. Feels good to have all 9 finally. Been playing since Beta. But only start ladder a year or so ago.

  • My first was hunter, during Un'Goro when midrange hunter was awesome.

    My second was paladin, using a variety of decks, but definitely odd paladin. Not really ashamed of it, as I happen to like the deck style, and there is more thinking involved than most people give it credit for (mostly trying to figure out how to survive board wipes).

    My third was druid, which I completed at the start of RoS using token druid (and accidentally put me within striking distance of my first, and only, climb to legend - which I completed with a rogue deck).

    None of the others are close to 500.

  • I'm 10 away from my first, which will be Hunter. Started playing in KOFT, but I had this weird aversion to playing ranked after I hit rank 5 every month for years.

  • I've got a couple thousand wins on priest and druid now. 

    I couldn't really care less about golden heroes so I have less than 500 on all other classes but this latest meta was super "helpful" in that I'm forced to play them because my preferred ones are dumpster tier or a snoozefest :(

  • I got golden priest (all time favorit) and hunter. I don’t know where the later came from, i probably played it consistantly over the years and made the final push with deathrattle hunter.

    Druid, rogue and warrior are all around 450 wins, excited to get those done soon!

    It‘s awesome that arena counts aswell now, will help a lot! 

    PS: my shaman got a recent boost of 50 wins! Grinded Wild 19 - Legend in 3 days with even shaman. Ranks 19-5 were a complete jok

    • The inclusion of the arena wins was a really nice touch indeed. I wonder if anyone got a golden hero portrait retrospectively kickin-in after that patch?

    Mage

    Paladin

    Warrior

    Warlock

    Shaman

    Rogue

     

    I’m about 40 wins away from priest, 80 from Hunter and about 120 away from Druid.  Looking forward to being done with the grind

      I finished Priest yesterday and am now working on Hunter.  I always thought Hunter would probably be my last class to make golden, but luckily Highlander is doing well right now as it plays to my game style better than the Hunter builds I dislike, re: face or beast Hunter

      Still need Druid.  I’m about 110 away.  I like the new 1000 portraits, but I was so excited to be done with the grind for Goldens.  Not looking forward to having another drive to get these portraits, but in the end will want them all, even wonky faced Rexxar

  • I have all nine complete. My first was Shaman and my last was Warrior.

    2/8/20  update: I now also have 1000 wins with Paladin and Warlock. I'm at about 940 with Shaman and 870 with Hunter. Warrior will probably be my last once again for this set of achievements.

  • I got golden paladin then warlock then hunter.. 

    The rest are at most at 300 and at least 150 I still play mostly my golden classes so I am not making much progress on the other classes, excited in trying zoo priest with the quest might hit 300 on priest until the end of the expansion.

  • My first one was Hunter way back in 2015, then Warlock in 2016, Druid in 2017, Mage in 2018 and now I´m very close with Paladin.. So I guess with this pattern my last golden will be Shaman in 2023 XD

  • I only have priest and rarely play ranked but am thinking about doing this as my next challenge

  • Here's mine in order I got them:

    1. Paladin (4007 wins!)
    2. Priest
    3. Shaman
    4. Warrior

     

    At 400 with Warlock, about 350 with Mage and Hunter, 250 with Druid and 100 with Rogue

  • As of August 2019, my current wins recorded on ladder per class :

    Druid 615
    Hunter 780
    Mage 611
    Paladin 986
    Priest 901
    Rogue 1146
    Shaman 771
    Warlock 1129
    Warrior 810

    It is fair to say that I have abused Warlock, Rogue, Paladin & Priest classes ... and barely played Druid & Mage since I completed their respective grind!

  • I got all classes golden last month. Last one was warrior which was a really boring grind, but now I'm glad I never have to play that class again. Too bad I still have to face warriors though... The first one I got golden was druid some time after Un'Goro or KFT was released I think.

  • I only have Priest (Dragon Priest) & Hunter (Spell/Secret Hunter) golden though not too far (425 or so) from getting Warrior (Dr. Broken Mechs) now. I have literally 0 ladder wins with Druid (also the only class not at rank 60...) or Mage, maybe 50 each with Shaman and Rogue, and I think ~200 each with Paladin & Warlock.

    So pretty far off from completion. Though if SoU Quest Druid is as good/fun as it looks those Druid numbers might get a lot better over the next few months.

  • When I first played Hearthstone, my first goal was to earn lots of gold and dust, then get strong and hit 500 wins for every golden hero.  I think I achieved that around 4 years ago.  After that, I didn't really have a goal so I played a lot less. 

    Now though, I'm slowly going for 1,000 wins on every hero.  Hit 1,000 on paladin, shaman, and druid so far.  Most likely warlock and warrior next.

  • I have nearly 1500 ranked wins with Warlock and around 1000 with the rest of the 8 classes combined (second best is Mage with 240). I don't have anything against other classes, I just enjoy playing Warlock:D
    Zoolock, Renolock, Evenlock, Control Warlock, Demonlock, Darkest Hour Warlock, Plot Twist Warlock, Discolock, Quest Warlock, Mecha'thun Warlock, Self-damaging Warlock, Egglock, Murlock, Menagerielock, Malygos Warlock, Midrange Dragon Warlock, Aggro variant of Renolock, Patron Knife Juggler Defile OTK Warlock, Glinda Mechwarper Zilliax combo Warlock, etc.
    You have so many options in Warlock, such an amazing class!

  • I started playing a few days after launch, but for the first ~2 years I was playing mostly casual. I don't really know why. Anyway, I hit my first golden hero (warlock) early last year. In 2018 I've also managed to make it to gold with priest and rogue. This year, I've hit golden shaman and warrior. I'm ~150 wins away on druid, paladin and hunter. Mage is by far my least played class, with only something around 150 ranked wins. I expect to hit at least one more golden class this year. Funny thing is, once I hit gold with a class, I don't really feel like playing it, except maybe warlock and priest (which were my favorite classes to begin with). Also, I play mostly control-ish decks (except hunter, mid range is pretty cool) so the process of getting a golden portrait with those is pretty tedious as well.

  • I'm a Shaman main, i got like 1300 wins with this class and about 50 for each other class lol

      As for warrior, it shouldn't be a problem either ; with so many archetypes to explore, dragon-taunt-rush-mech, your pick?

  • First golden hero I got was rogue during MSOG before the STB nerf simply because rogue had like 3 viable archetypes and I loved playing them all, followed by hunter during Boomsday (and mainly in wild due to both secret and mech being absurdly fun) and just recently got paladin despite it being my go-to ranked class for about a year. 

    My other classes are all in the 300~ range, with the exception of druid and warrior since I do not find the classes to be fun most of the time. The classes I am currently working on the most are shaman and warrior, using a totem shaman for wild and a control warrior in standard, at least for now.

  • i have 5/9 (shaman,warlock,paladin,druid,priest in order)

    my most played is shaman and warlock with over 1k win

    i never fully invest into other classes so i miss so many good cards but slowly im trying to  build other 4 classes

  • I just finished by last class (Paladin), and it happened to coincide with my 7000th overall win.  I used to not like Pally much, but due to the grind to 500 I grew to like it lately with Mech and Holy Wrath variants.  I finished the grind with Quest Pally which has been a lot of fun.

  • Just hit the ninth golden hero-Jaina. Arena was good to me, giving me 6 straight Jaina picks to knock out my last 30 wins.

  • I am mainly an FTP player (I've never bought preorders, only 2x starter bundle and rarely single packs). Today I made 500 victories with Shaman! This is my first such achievement, and I play from beta, regularly from WotOG. When a month ago I noticed that I had 400 shaman victories I got down and started with a grind. I played mainly Elemental Shaman in the Wild, agro totem Shaman as standard, but I finished with Even Shaman in Wild. I am very proud of this achievement. Hunter will be next in line, I have 345 wins at the moment and I'm going to play: Midrange, Mech and Highlander Hunter. See you soon, I hope!

      Hunter should be fairly quick - unless you get unlucky playing Highlander and get to play most, if not all, of your deck ..!

  • Like you, Warlock is my primary and am in the process of crafting all Warlock cards in gold.  I still have Warrior and Hunter left... I've never liked playing either class, so these have been the last ones for me.

  • I’m at 6/9. Still need 75 wins for Garrosh, 250ish for Anduin and around 300 for Rexxar. Looking forward to completing the grind as I don’t particularly enjoy playing these 3 classes. 

    My first one was Shaman, then Paladin, Mage, Warlock, Rogue and Druid.

    Receiving those new portraits made me want to play those classes, but also made me regain some motivation in playing classes I have left underplayed since the golden completion. Only 9 shorts with Paladin and 20'ish on the Priest side, not that I care too much about that skin tho ; that facial expression combine with the overbite gave it a repulsive je-ne-sais-quoi... 
    Guess I'll be playing some Mage and Shaman for a bit!


    Edit : More like 80'ish short with Priest ... memory playing tricks ^^

    • I had dusted my Boom after the nerf since I had just gotten the golden portrait a month or two before, but now I kinda wanna crafts it again, loving the look of the new Garrosh portrait.

      Other than that I’m around 150 off from Hunter for the new portrait, but I just don’t really like it

  • My first golden hero was Priest, but I got it way back in the days of Dragon Priest from Blackrock Mountain. Priest has been my favorite since I started playing. I'm proud to say I never played Raza or Big Priest. I'm about 4 wins shy of 1000. My second was Paladin and he came from a build of Murloc Pally back in the days of Anyfin can Happen. The next closest are Mage (Tempo mage with exploding runes was fun), Shaman (I loved evolve Shaman with the deathknight), and Hunter (mech hunter has been fun) that are all around 400. I've never been good with Rogue, don't like the style of play for Warlock, and find Warrior boring. Druid I've only ever found entertaining with the Hadronox deck.

  • The compulsive completionist in me is so frustrated by this. I just got all 9 golden earlier this year, and all are still below 600. I want those portraits but I don't want to grind again. Plus I've been playing a lot less ladder recently since the adventures are so fun. What to do? (First world problems)

  • 9/9 since October(ish) 2017. The new patch kicked me the new Priest, Paladin, and Shaman (which I love!) and the others are 900 or more, except for Warlock at 800. Should be a fun few months getting the rest. Might take a while since life has made my game time much more scarce over the last few months. 

     

  • Getting closer and closer to the 1000 wins with Priest and Warrior.
    Hunter is getting close too, but I'm in no rush to add it to my collection of unplayed skins ^^

    My only golden hero is Anduin (666, so ironic lol), followed by Rexxar (413), Valeera (189) and... that's it. All the other classes are below 100 wins.

    One reason of these records might be the fact that for the first year I played mostly in Casual mode, whereas I don't go there since June: playing stupid stuff at rank 5 is a lot more rewarding than doing it in Casual.

    I guess I'll have to grind a lot to get even a single new portrait!

      Almost 4 months later, here's how things have changed for me

      Priest - got a couple more wins and now I'm around 710

      Hunter - finally got that Golden Rexxar

      Rogue - unexpectedly I hit the 500 wins with this class too (even before Hunter which was missing just 90 wins)

      I've also improved (some slightly, some in a more remarkable way) my scores with all the other 6 classes and I wonder which one will be the next.

      To be honest I'm just one Embiggen short for the complete meta list, but I'm not sure I want to play that. Also, I started taking a look to the "wild side" as well, and it gives me a lot more options.

  • I've been playing since beta, only have about 170 hunter wins, 300 warrior, close with priest and rogue to 500 450's I think, other are golden only 1k is paladin, that was my early goto class.

     

  • I just got my golden portrait for Hunter, aka Batman. Next up is Paladin, with 310 wins in the bank.

  • Almost done with Warrior & Priest - less than a 100 wins away from the 1k mark.
    Hunter & Shaman are in the 200 wins away from a thousand ranked win.
    And then Mage & Druid are a little behind, with just over 600 recorded victories with each.

    Mage is in a good spot - wildly speaking - to pursue that goal.
    Embiggen Druid should also help reaching the milestone.
    Galakrond's list gave my warrior and shamy a little boost, but that was momentarily.
    Hunter is still highrolling its highlander's glory
    ... and well, I'm a little bored of playing priest for that last sprint to a 1000

  • Finally added Wanderer Rexxar to my Wall of Fame. 1.000 wins Jaina is closer to join him than another class to 500. Maybe I'll go Warrior next.

    Priest: 735 - If Raza is going to be unnerfed I dare to say King Anduin will be my first 1k skin

    Hunter: 553 - Dragon Hunter is fun and all, but racing down your opponents isn't

    Rogue: 694 - Imagine paying mana for your cards 4Head

    Improved Shaman and Warlock, but to be fair I haven't played much in the last weeks due to other stuff.

  • I'm currently on:

    Rogue - 872

    Druid - 867

    Paladin - 778

    Mage - 741

    Priest - 640

    Shaman - 532

    Warlock - 524

    Warrior - 287

     

    Currently focusing on getting Rogue to 1k so I can go all pirate.

  • With the addition of Demon Hunter as a playable class, we will enter a brand new era of 500 wins & 1, 000 wins milestones. I personally think it will revamp and refresh our collective achievements counter with a new uncharted path to explore, and to be fair, I'm thrilled about that. They will also at some point, according to the Year of the Phoenix's road map, introduce some new in games achievement, which I'm particularly intrigued by ; cannot wait to see how it all plays out. Any of you excited about that sweet 1k DH portrait ?

    Like Gandalf, if I'm not mistaken, would state: '' So it begins, the great battle grind of our time ''

  • I am not very serious about climbing and grinding, but with the new ranked system plus the new demon hunter class who, in my opinion, has the best 1,000 wins portrait of any hero I might start grinding out ladder games more intently.

    6 of them at 1000 portrait 3 to go full 1000.

    But Demon Hunter now change the plan a bit - new grinding straight to 1000 !

  • Just over a week into AoO and the release of Demon Hunter, and I feel like it is going to take me forever to get 500 wins ...  Not that DH isn't effective - no, far from it - it just ... doesn't feel right. I never been an aggro enthusiastic, and this is where DH excels.

    I got maybe 10 wins with DH in standard, playing a tempo list, and about as much in Wild with an odd list.
    The next nerf should address the power level of the class and make it feel less like a cheatin' move.
    How's the grind going for you?

    • I totally feel you.

      The only time I've touched DH so far was for the Kael'thas brawl. Nothing more. Not even one game on ladder.

      By nature, I'm always sided to root for the underdog, so it is natural for me to play whatever counters the elephant in the room.

       

      By the way, how is your grinding going? Have you got any new golden/1k portraits?

        Not too bad actually, I haven't completed any new 1k portrait, but worked toward completing Priest & Warrior, respectively 70 & 80 wins away from it.
        Then comes Hunter, Shaman, Mage & Druid - at a respectable 900, 800, 700 & 600 wins on ladder each, in that order. They are all coming together, at some point ... except maybe Demon Hunter ^^

        Meanwhile, Gul'Dan & Valeera are both a tad over 1200 recorded wins - and I haven't touched Uther since I completed him
        Total wins - in the quest log - writes 12 709, considering that my first 2 years, I wouldn't get close to 50% winrate, that's must represent a few more games played to say the least.

  • I brought Hunter and Mage home to 1.000 in February and March. Not sure where to continue now, since I'm not even close to a threshold with another class... Paladin, Warlock and Warrior are all between 200 and 300. I must admit I like aggro and already pushed Demon Hunter to 80 wins, almost exclusively in wild. I guess I'll just wait and see what the nerfs do to the wild meta before I focus on a certain class. Sadly, I'm low on dust after crafting a Darkest Hour Warlock deck last week. 

  • you can't actually get the 500 win portrait for demon hunter yet because people are stuck at 499/500 wins and if they win the number doesn't up thus they will never get the portrait until blizzard fixes it

  • My golden heroes are Warlock at 1200 something wins and Hunter at I think 600 something? 

    Rogue's in third place and all the other classes are 300 or lower. 

  • I'm somewhat in the same boat as Avalon. Worse than that, actually. It's not just that I like the underdog decks, it's that I don't like decks that are solved for me by someone else. I have to be the one to build it, to figure it out, to tune it. It is often more enjoyable for me to build and tune the decks in my collection than to play them. The moment what I play becomes part of the meta, it's no longer interesting to me. Seeing as Demon Hunter is currently very limited in what he can do and I hate playing aggro (hate the feeling of running out of steam), I haven't touched him outside of the Tavern Brawl either. But that's not even the main reason. The main thing is, they haven't added deck slots for DH. And I'm not doing extra work backing up my decklists on deck tracker just so I can delete two of my decks to build DH. When they add two deck slots, I start playing DH. Maybe. So 0/1000 on that one for me.

    Getting back on topic, I have 1000 wins on every class, some, such as Rogue and Druid even several hundred beyond that, but I'm missing 100 on Warrior. Did I mention I hate playing Aggro or "meta" decks? I think I did. Well, that's pretty much alll that Warrior is good at in Wild right now. You got Pirate Warriors....and then some mostly failed attempts at trying DMH Warriors that inevitably lose to either Quest Mage, Highlander Priest or Mechathun. There is some minor opportunity to do stuff with Odd Warrior or Midrange Taunt Warrior, but it requires specific matchups and it tends to take quite a while. So even though I'm missing only 100 wins, given that it's Warrior, they might actually take me longer to reach than the last 100 did on Mage and Hunter combined.

  • I have Mage over 1000, Hunter over 900 then Rogue, Shaman, Paladin and Druid just over 500.  Priest is between 220 and 250, Warrior and Warlock around 170.  I  would prefer to get Priest next but I can't find a good or fun deck to play so I'm playing Warlock and having some good results but 500 just send so far away!

  • So far I have three golden portraits:

    Warrior - 780+ wins

    Hunter - 596 wins

    Paladin - 509 wins

    I played a lot of Rez Priest in the last meta which inflated my wins with the class, so it's the closest I have to another golden portrait at 214 wins.

    However, I'm solely playing Demon Hunter now, managed to grind to 110 wins so far. I probably would've had 150+ if it weren't for all those annoying Warlocks on ladder. Boy, the Sacrificial Pact nerf can't come soon enough, it just hard counters any Demon Hunter deck. I just want that golden DH portrait!

  • A quick update on my grinding progresses

    Rogue: 809 - since the rotation hit, I haven't touched the class yet

    Priest: 747 - I have tried my take on Highlander Priest, but the lack of tools (card draw and rush above all) is just embarrassing. No way on earth I'll play Res

    Hunter: 561 - I haven't found any epics/legs of the class, so... Zixor is so cool though...

    Mage: 167 - No Minion Mage is not great, but it's hella flavorful. If the nerfs will make it better, I think I'll craft the pieces I miss (second Apexis Blast, Evocation, second Power of Creation and Puzzle box)

    Paladin: 141 - I've tried some Pure Paladin, but unfortunately it doesn't stand a chance right now

    Shaman: 136 - Totem Shaman is fun

    Warrior: 91 - see Hunter; plus Garrosh is not in a good shape except for Egg Warrior

    Warlock: 85 - Discolock is fun

    Druid: 82 - I'm currently playing some Big Druid, and I'll stick to the deck until the nerfs hit.

    With some luck I'll unpack another legendary with the end-of-the-month rewards and I'll have more deckbuilding choices.

I decided to grind to golden Warlock a little more than a month ago and while I'm really looking forward to reaching this goal, the games themselves feel somewhat meaningless. I'm only 30 wins away now, so I'll finish this grind, but I'll also try to remember not to do this anymore in the future.

    Congrats to King Anduin anyway. It's a really cool portrait!

      Congrats on almost reaching golden Warlock! I did that push back during SoU. A few weeks back I picked it back up to start working on my 1000 win Warlock. Discardlock in Wild works really well for the grind right now. You can get some really fast wins on turn 4.

      I'm at 696 with Warlock right now. I'm also throwing in some Hunter games here and there to hit my 1000 with Hunter. I'm at 905 with Hunter at the moment. I just care more about getting the Warlock portrait than "derp-face Rexxar". I'll stick with Sylvanas, except for Face Hunter decks. I feel the 1000 win Rexxar is the perfect portrait for a Face Hunter deck. 

      Here's my complete list (all classes lvl 60 unless specified(aka DH)):

      Hunter (905), Warlock (696), Paladin (634), Shaman (600), Rogue (576), Priest (270), Warrior (236), Druid (178), Mage (175), DH (112 lvl 37).

      What's sad is the OG 9 classes would all be golden, with many 1000 win classes had I not started playing the game with an irrational fear of the ladder. I felt out of my league on ladder and had an anger management issue when it came to losing stars and rank. I also sometimes get pulled away in the middle of the game, so I hated having to leave in the middle of a ranked match because real life called.

      I used to just play Casual mode and hit ladder for the minimum required to get the card back each month. Then slowly over the years ventured more and more onto ladder, hitting rank 10 each month, then rank 5. Now, I have gotten over that and don't care at all about what rank I am or how many stars I am. Hit at least Diamond 5 each month with no effort, and am 2x Legend. Hit legend last month without even noticing that I was going to hit legend. 

      I have 8990 total wins on my account. That's 4382 wins that I should have applied to ranked mode for my portrait wins. So I'm playing catch-up from years of avoiding ladder. Oh well, live in learn. 

      Bonus Fun Fact: The first class I took to ladder was Priest back during Whisper of the Old Gods with some janky home brewed deck. Maybe that's why I felt out of league on ladder? Hunter was the first class I started trying to force myself to get good with and play on ladder. Started playing Secret Hunter on ladder in MSoG. Not much better experience... Hunter was first to hit 500 during Boomsday? (fuck I don't remember when I got my first golden...)

        Now I don’t worry about rank or falling on the ladder, and I want to work towards 500 wins on all the other classes. The grind is brutal!

        I also really want to get the 1000 win Gul’dan. I think it’s my favorite art in the game.

  • I guess I stopped focusing so much on the grind - and maybe on the game all together, as covid got my game time melting like ice-cream in the sun - and just played whatever I felt like, regardless of the meta, the rank or the achievements at the end ; just casually did my thing, keeping quest board lean and clean, and getting ready for the next expansion to shake up the meta.

    So progress were made, but not in a linear way like I used to. Instead of main'ing 1 class, I'm now having 3 classes fairly close to the final(?) 1k milestone;
    Priest - 932 
    Hunter - 913
    Warrior - 910

    Then the rest is pretty much were we last left it : Shamy (804), Mage (745) and then Druid (670).
    Paladin, Rogue and Warlock have all outgrew the 11'hundreds' club ; now respectively 1200 and up!
    On a cool conclusion note, my Demon Hunter is sitting at 69 wins - Nice!

  • I have over 1000 wins with mage and around 940 with Hunter, then between 500 and 600 with Rogue, Paladin, Druid and Shaman.  Next I'm trying to get Priest and I'm at 380.  It's getting pretty grindy though.   Priest is generally a pretty slow deck which I don't care for.  Any suggestions?  I have most cards or I can craft anything I need.  Right now I'm just playing Highlander.  

    After Priest is Warrior around 330 and Warlock is in the 200s.    Then Demon Hunter is at like 40 😆

  • I finished the Warlock grind in a try hard session yesterday. I'm very happy since it's my favorite golden portrait.

    Current standings:

    Hunter 1011, Mage 1044, Warlock 501, Paladin 240, Warrior 253, Demon Hunter 158, Shaman 69, Rogue 89, Priest 134, Druid 158

    Of course I immediately updated my Wall of Fame as well :)

    I'll enjoy playing whatever I feel like for some time now, not looking at the numbers ;-) 

  • I took a loooong break from this game so my race to a golden DH portrait got halted. I'm at 402 wins with the class right now. I'll try to get in as many wins as I can before the new round of nerfs hit it on July 14.

    Odd DH in Wild is gonna take a big hit with the Warglaives of Azzinoth nerf. I'm thinking of re-tooling the deck to be more mid-rangey (Priestess of Fury build), but let's see. The archetype didn't really suffer when it lost Altruis the Outcast and Skull of Gul'dan, so it might survive this new nerf.

  • I am finally a proud owner of Derp-face Rexxar. I did it right too, and got my last 5 wins playing as Face Hunter.

    Ironically enough, 4 of my last 5 wins were against Highlander Hunter (Face eats them for breakfast), so I was preying on my own to get my last wins. 

    Shout out to the guy I played for win 1000. He was a Highlander Hunter and played a great game. I got scared for a few turns that he was going to pull a win off. I was able to secure the victory with a well executed play, perfectly playing around his secret to get lethal. My opponent gave a nice pleasant "Well Played" as the match ended. It was really nice to face a true competitor with proper sportsmanship to end this long grind.

    To my opponent: I know what you did was just a simple gesture, that you probably didn't even think twice about doing, but that simple "Well Played" really meant a lot to me. I have not been enjoying Hearthstone AT ALL for the past few months. I am going through some personal mental health issues, and I have been finding that Hearthstone hasn't been bringing any joy in my life. I can't tell if it's my mental health, or Hearthstone that are the issue. I have been questioning if I should continue playing, and have been debating uninstalling the game. I continued playing as I was so close to 1000 wins with Hunter, and since it is my main class, the completitionist in me needed to get that portrait. I feared that upon receiving the portrait, I would be left feeling unsatisfied, and unaccomplished. I feared that I would stop playing Hearthstone all together once achieving my goal. 

    Your simple "Well Played" really helped me find a reason to celebrate my accomplishment, and decide to not give up on playing Hearthstone. Had you chosen to "threaten" me, then add me on bnet to say mean things about my Mom, I probably would have uninstalled Hearthstone right then and there. For now, I will continue playing Hearthstone. I was able to find joy in it still, so the main issue is with my mental health.

    That being said...

    There are some major concerns and questions going into SA that are keeping me from preordering so far. These concerns are not being alleviated by the reveals. The bi-class cards (while a really cool idea) are looking way too powerful imo. With what I have seen so far, I am seeing a repeat of both DoD and AoO on the horizon, where there are cards released that are just obviously way too strong. 

    Honestly, the main thing keeping me playing right now is knowing a new game mode will be released this expansion cycle. That new mode is going to be vital to the long-term desire for me to continue playing. 

    TL;DR: DERP FACE REXXAR! You never know what someone is going through, and how your actions can effect them. Scholomance is looking like a huge power spike, but all that matters is what the new game mode is going to be.

      Posts like this really make me smile :) Thanks for sharing. I´m also very close from my own Derp-face Rexxar :D He will be my first 1000w class and since it´s my main class aswell (midrange all the way), I´m a little proud on myself too :) Good job Xarkkal

  • I did it, I finally got my golden DH portrait. I promised myself I'd reach 500 wins before the new expansion, and I accomplished it 30 minutes before the launch :P

    This final grind got me tilted so bad. I started the day at 477 wins, then went on a streak of 9 wins before struggling in the Diamond ranks. Then when I was at 499 wins, I lost 7 STRAIGHT. I hate this game

    Anyway, now I can enjoy the new expansion. I don't see myself grinding for a golden portrait soon (Priest is the closest I have to 500, with 240+ wins). Though I might try to grind for that awesome Demonic Illidan...

    So as of now, here are my golden portraits:

    Warrior - 798 wins

    Hunter - 609 wins

    Paladin - 511 wins

    Demon Hunter - 503 wins

      On a different note, I wanted to congratulate you for your commendable exploit ; 500 wins with DH in so little time is impressive to me. Yes, I have accomplished a lot of milestones in HS, but I also been at it for 6 years, so it does put in perspectives the numbers too. I have maybe 70-80 wins on record with that latest class, so seeing a golden one makes it even more impressive. Hats off!

        Making a pointed effort to grind for 500 wins is something I do not want to do again. It takes away enjoyment of the game. I'll focus on trying lots of decks in the new meta this time.

    On this new year, I'm now 50 wins away with Hunter to complete my 1000 portrait!
    And hunter is at a very good spot right now to farm up those wins, so I got that going.

    • I'm currently at 977 wins with Warrior, and 845 with Demon Hunter. I had hoped to get those two classes to 1k by the end of 2020, but unfortunately DH got nerfed heavily so I couldn't grind with the class that well anymore. 

      I'm still playing Bomb Warrior on ladder, but it's an unfortunate casualty of people teching in Kobold Stickyfinger in every deck, so it's a bit hostile out there right now. Nerf Evolve Shaman now, for the love of God!

  • I think this is the easiest way to update my progresses toward the golden/1k portraits.

    Rogue (+50) - I haven't enjoyed the class since the beginning of the Year of the Phoenix; the only exception was Weapon Rogue with [Hearthstone Card (Self-Sharpening knife) Not Found], but Zephrys the Great is a hard counter.

    Priest (+612) - I love the class: I find interesting and enjoyable meme decks too.

    Hunter (+45) - Deathrattle Hunter is bad and Face Hunter is not very interesting...

    Mage (+143) - Looks like I played a lot of No Minion Mage. I played some Elemental Mage too, but it's not as good as I'd wish.

    Paladin (+65) - Murloc Paladin is not interesting, but Lothraxion the Redeemed awakened my desire to play the class and therefore I spent some time playing Standard Dude Paladin with decent success.

    Shaman (+79) - Played a bit of Totem Shaman (good but very highrolly) and a lot of Highlander Shaman (very bad but cool). Just as last year I didn't touch Evolve Shaman, I won't do it this year either. Fuck Evolve.

    Warrior (+44) - Menagerie Warrior and... that's it.

    Warlock (+54) - I tried some ZooLock back in May, but since the nerf to Imprisoned Scrap Imp I have never touched the class.

    Druid (+225) - I crafted Ysera, Unleashed, Malfurion the Pestilent and Ultimate Infestation and jammed a lot of Jade Druid in Wild. I like the class: I wish I discovered it sooner.

    Demon Hunter (+139) - lots of memes, never a top tier list. I'm currently playing Menagerie Demon Hunter with Zai, the Incredible for double N'Zoth, God of the Deep.

  • I did it, 1000 wins with Warrior! Not really my favorite hero portrait since there's not much animation in it, but I'll take it. I've been maining the class since 2018, but my play rate of it suffered last year because I was focusing on Demon Hunter. I love this class to death, and I'll always be a Warrior main. 

    Here's my current status with the rest of the classes. I'm really just a four-class player at this point (Warrior, DH, Hunter, and Paladin), though I've dabbled with some Shaman decks in Wild and toyed with the Rez Priest from Galakrond's Awakening. I've been playing this Highlander Tempo Secret Mage in Wild which has upped my wins with the class, but as you can see I really don't like Mage lol. 

    Once I get DH to 1k wins, I'll start playing more Warlock decks, and maybe some Druid. I just need more dust to craft the cards I need for Wild.

    As you can see, with the 3 classes I have been working on, I'm now seeing the end of the grind in sight!
    5 more wins to complete Priest - Wild Razakus is strong
    18 more with Hunter - Hunter is still in a good spot with fun mid-range options
    Warrior is dragging a bit behind with still 48 wins to go, but that was one of those classes that barely played after I had reached 500wins, so it came a long way!

    The rest of the progress is somewhat marginal, even if I did my fair share of wins with various Old Gods' slap into Druid, Mage and Warlock. But I guess the next trio of classes I'll be working on are Druid, Mage and Shammy, to complete the OG's 1k challenge, and then I'll have no other choices but to complete DH, alas

  • Well, I have nothing to really brag about after 6 years of playing. Half of my Heroes are bellow the 500w mark, the other 5 are above, with only one above 1000w. Grinding is slow as I don´t always feel to play Ranked, but now it´s bit easier when Arena, Duels (and Brawl?) count towards it.

    Paladin 700

    Mage 680

    Warlock 650

    Warrior 300

    Priest 200

    Demon Hunter 120

    Rogue 50

  • Hello everyone! It's been a month since my last update, and I've won a couple more games. I've been grinding mainly xp achievements, but I also enjoyed ladder.

     

    Rogue (+82) - I decided it was time to get [Hearthstone Card (Cap'n Valeera) Not Found], even though I don't like her that much. It's just that being this close to the 1k portrait for so long started bothering me. I exclusively jammed Standard Burgle Rogue and even got Legend with it.

    Priest (+9) - There are a handful of decks I'd like to try, but I have so many wins with Anduin that I almost feel bad playing it over other classes.

    Hunter (+14) - I played some Jewel of N'Zoth Hunter in order to get a couple achievements, including Darkmoon Tonk's and Bola Shot's (still halfway through on this one though) ones.

    Mage (+56) - All the progress in Mage is due to Duels wins, where I even got a sweet 12-0! Looks like this is going to be my next 500 wins hero.

    Paladin (+15) - Played some Menagerie Paladin (not the High Abbess Alura version, but a way more memey one) aaand... nothing else.

    Shaman (+68) - Aggro Shaman is strong and fast: I wonder why no one plays it.

    Warrior (+3) - Bleh.

    Warlock (+54) - I unpacked Tickatus and felt like ruin other players' game experience

    Druid (+13) - I'd like to play the class but I find Token Druid not very interesting... 

    Demon Hunter (+16) - same as the last time: lots of memes, but never a top tier list.

    So, there it is, after years of grind, today I completed 2 - Hunter & Priest - 1000 wins portraits. Damn, that felt good. Back to back victory, plus the winstreak, and the completion of a daily quest at the same time ; I am no meteoroligist, but I swear it was raining rewards ..!



    I'll take a moment to savour that achievement, and after, I'll tackle the rest of my grind. 
    Looking at my next classes left - Druid, Shaman, Mage, Warrior & Demon Hunter - I was quite please to notice the head start I'm having on most of the remaining classes, except for DH, for which I have yet to find satisfactory play style ; too aggro to my liking.

    My respectively starting their next final race to the Thousand Wins milestones at :

    DH - 105 ; merely 900 more to go 
    Druid - 723 ; roughly 3/4 already done
    Mage - 790 ; with only 210 more to go, starting to see the light at the end
    Shaman - 809 ; about the same ballpark, a little under 200 more here
    Warrior - 953 ; I mean, that's practically there, only 47 more to go!

    I find my tally with DH quite discouraging, but at the same time, when I started - a while ago - a was only targeting the 500's as an ideal, and it took me lots of grind, of experimenting, a fair share of failure and defeats before getting there too. So I guess I'm better to take it one step, or game, at a time anyway, not to be crush by the mountain ahead. It'll be a long trek! 

    And I can always rejoice with the other classes that made it that far :D

  • Sorry for necro-ing this thread, but I just have to share this. I finally did it; 1,000 wins with Demon Hunter for that sweet, sweet Demonic Illidan portrait. What a grind these past few months have been for this class, it feels like I've been stuck in 850+ wins forever. 

    With such a hostile meta for DH (thanks, Paladins!), the grind for 1k wins had me feeling like Germany at the gates of Moscow during WW2; I could see the spires of the Kremlin from where I am, but the harsh winter of a Paladin meta has stopped my advance dead in its tracks. So many battles lost, so many minefields and obstacles harassing me along the way, that I felt like giving up and just hoping for nerfs that would slay my hated foe and clear my path. But no! I said to myself to hell with these Paladins and Warriors, I will forge on with my Deathrattle DH deck and its 38% win rate, fight tooth and nail, by hook or by crook. No waiting for nerfs! And with those rallying words I crashed through that 1,000-win barrier and claimed that portrait in all its demonic glory. 

    (Did I just compare myself to Nazis? I guess I just did, and besides, that's probably what you're thinking of me for playing such a degenerate class :P) 

    Anyway, that's another thousand-win portrait for me after Warrior. It took me a little over a year to get this portrait, and I would've gotten it faster had I spammed DH more before Soul DH got nerfed. I haven't been playing a lot these past two months so there's no other progress on other classes, so I've made no significant strides on 500 wins with Priest or Shaman. 

    Can't wait for the nerfs to come so I can stomp on these Paladins with my Demonic Illidan. Vengeance will be had!

  • Got my fourth golden Hero today :) Odd Paladin took me to Legend last month and Handbuff was a nice deck to climb to top 1.500 after that. This season, I've grinded Aggro Paladin in Standard until the nerfs hit, culminating in a 17 games winstreak. The final push was made with Wild Mech Paladin, the Handbuff prototype.

    Like with the other 3 Heros before, I wasn't having much fun anymore once I got close. It was too much of a grind. Not sure what to do next, maybe Warrior or Demon Hunter. I've also come to like Standard Miracle Rogue, maybe that's my ticket to the Classic mode.

  • Cool! I did not notice before such a thread existed where we could share our 1000 class wins progression.

    I am closing in rapidly on completing Shaman as my 8th class over 1K wins. Rogue will follow soon after and Demon Hunter is obviously last which is going to be a real long grind to complete. I do not expect to finish it in 2021 even.

    I am already dreading the moment when the eleventh class will be added or when 1500 wins hero portraits will be announced eventually.

  • I now have 9 classes with 1000 or more wins. It feels really weird to only have Demon Hunter left to complete this feat. Almost feels like I completed Hearthstone with some loose ends here and there.

    I already have most hero portraits and cardbacks. Reached legend dozens of times. Got the 12 wins key from arena years ago (pity they removed it visually from the game). Duels is kind of broken still and Battlegrounds is only a nice distraction once in awhile. Seems like there is a void appearing in front of my progression in Hearthstone.

    Aside from those silly achievement points (which I do not intend to fully collect or care about without XP rewards attached), what are your personal goals left in Hearthstone?

  • Wow, this is really impressive. I know 700 wins is a frightening grind, but the 1.000 wins Demon Hunter portrait is one of the best in the game for me, so maybe that's something you can put your mind on when you spam Illidan. I've also found the newish Deathrattle / Il'gynoth hybrid decks very fun to play and powerful, maybe that's something you want to look into. The downside is that games usually take 10-15 turns, Odd Demon Hunter would be way faster.

    I guess I can say I have achieved all I ever wanted and more, that is getting to legend in Standard and Wild. I'm also looking forward to more golden and 1.000 Heros, but I usually play what I feel like at that moment and only actively start to grind a class when I'm about 100 wins away from a treshold. I'm really, really bad at Arena so 12 wins isn't something I'm even trying to achieve. I might give it a go in Duels if I ever get bored enough, but right now I'm happy with Standard & Wild.

  • I'm glad to see that people keep using this thread - congrats to everyone for your grinding achievements.

    Here are my numbers - as usual, I'll provide numbers and decks since the last time I posted here.

    Priest - since I have almost 400 wins over the 1000 threshold, I rarely play the class, which a shame since I enjoy it a lot.

    Rogue - I don't like Poison and Miracle Rogue, so hard pass until something spicier comes up.

    Rexxar - played some Standard N'Zoth Hunter, which was funny and grinded 50 wins or so.

    Druid - I hit 500 wins before Barrens with my take on Highlander Druid: I refuse playing Token Druid.

    Warlock - played some Wild RenoLock and some Standard CuteLock, but the class is not in the best shape ever. Fuck Darkglare.

    Demon Hunter - probably the most relevant news since the last update: I played a ton of Midrange and Deathrattle DH, and I like the class a lot now.

    Mage - I played some Minion Mage with the Hero Power package before Jandice Barov got nerfed, nothing more, nothing less.

    Shaman - Imagine grinding Elemental Control Shaman despite the fact that the class is a complete dumpster on fire. I just like Elementals guys: it's not my fault. Lilypad Lurker favorite card of Barrens' Shaman.

    Paladin - There's no way I touch the broken class with 2+ tier 1 archetypes while it's at its peak. Moreover, I tried some Aggro Paladin before First Day of School was nerfed, but the fact that the mirror came down to who was able to make the beefiest Crabrider stick triggered me so much that I moved on.

    Warrior - I grinded 100 wins or so with Rush Warrior, but I got bored of it fairly quickly. Still the least played class, but now this a smaller margin.

     

    All in all, I have 4 classes which need less than 100 wins in order to get to the Golden Portrait, 3 of those need less than 50 wins. The problem is that I am fairly bored of this meta, so I hope the mini-set will hit in the next week or so.

     

     

  • I just reached the 500 wins halfway outpost with Demon Hunter and Illidan Stormrage is finally golden now. Continueing at maximum warp speed towards the final frontier and get myself that sweet Demonic Illidan hero portrait after many more stardates still to come.

    • Keep going, you can do this! I've played some Demon Hunter myself this month with Deathrattle strong in Standard and even made it to legend in Wild with Odd. I'm at 260 now, so I'll probably need another 3 years for that super nice 1.000 wins portrait lol

  • I just reached 900 wins with Demon Hunter which means the light at the end of the tunnel has become visible to me. I can almost taste the bitter sweet victory and finally collect the awesome Demonic Illidan hero portrait. My motivation to complete this long run is now greater than ever before. I am so hyped!

    • Hey, congratulations for your 900 wins with Demon Hunter and good luck for the remaining 100! I too am trying to get Demonic Illidan, but my grind has been put to an halt since Stormwind released, given that I refuse to play any deck that contains Il'gynoth's degeneracy.

      For the rest of the classes, I have made quite a from progresses since the last time.

      Priest (1464) - as always, I am not focusing on the class, given I already have many wins with it. The additional wins come from Questline games and achievement grinding.

      Rogue (1039) - same as Priest; wins come from achievement grinding and Duels.

      Hunter (736) - still not interested in the class at all...

      Druid (628) -  Questline Druid was fun till it lasted.

      Warlock (591) - grind that Blightborn Tamsin achievement isn't gonna grind it by itself...

      Demon Hunter (680) - as I already mentioned, Deathrattle DH has become quite stale to me without new spicy support, and Fel DH still isn't a powerful deck.

      Mage (552) - get the golden hero before Stormwind with No Minion Mage and kept abusing Incanter's Flow when Sorcerer's Gambit was released. 

      Shaman (638) - Questline Shaman is good. Also lots of Duels.

      Paladin (438) - the only progress you see is from crappy Duels builds.

      Warrior (468) - I crafted Raid the Docks especially for Duels and I am deeply enjoying it!

  • A little over 5 months since my last entry, and well, I'm pleased to announced some progress on all my remaining not 1k-certified classes - Druid, Shaman, Mage and Demon Hunter - and also completed long overdue Warrior's thousand-of-wins' portrait! ... well, I sorta-kinda-didn't really, as with one of the latest update for duels,  we were retroactively granted our arena's & brawls ... which only really impacted the classes I've already abused well over 1000 wins, but heey! So here it is :

      My last entry to this thread dates from Autumn 2021 - I haven't played that much during the last quarter, but as I like to archive my statistics -  I figured I could update my progression; no significant milestones were crossed, but all my remaining non-thousands-wins-and-over classes have progressed towards the inevitable completion. Demon Hunter is still far from the finish line, but thankfully, Druid, Mage & Shaman are "almost" there. Retaking my previous comment for comparative purposes, and adding an extra column:

  • I finally did it, I reached 1000 wins with Demon Hunter! My sweet reward when I crossed the finish line: Demonic Illidan.

    Now I feel like celebrations are in order! 🍾🎉🥳🍻🥂

      I am going to play each class and get all of them very close to 1500 wins, because that will most probably be the next milestone or treshold. Along the way, I will be passing 1337 wins and if this happens for all ten classes at the same time (when the stars align), I will take that awesome screenshot of course (especially for you anchorm4n).

      Let us hope the eleventh class does not get added any time soon, coz that is gonna be the grandmother of all grinds.

  • Greetings everyone, how are these winter holidays going? Hope you're all okay.

    I brought this thread back to life just to say that recently I've been grinding Demon Hunter for that sweet sweet Demonic Illidan, and with the release of FiAV I decided to make the final push.

    I am currently 30-ish wins away from the finishing line, and I can't wait to set that skin as the default one!

    As for my own progression, I have been playing all classes slowly but steadily towards the next checkpoint of 1500 wins. I really tried to get the custom made All classes at 1337 wins achievement set by anchorm4n along the way, but alas I did not realize playing Diablo in Duels counts towards Warrior wins and I accidentally crossed the 1337 wins mark at one point.

    Here are the new win counts (+940 wins in total since my last report):

            Thanks! Yeah, he´s so cool :) The best 1k win portrait there is imho.

            And for the round numbers, yeah, I have to admit, it´s kinda my thing. It´s not that I have to round up wins all the time, but when I´m close to some bigger achievement or want to write down my progress, I like to round them, so it looks neat :D I don´t really like to leave the "5" at the end, but I  wasn´t able to do 15 more wins before I made the previous post :P (Too bad I won one more game before I took the proof picture, heh)

            • @Alleria, you probably also "hate" the fact that your gold stash ends with "5", I reckon? 😁

              Personally, I have the same tick as I cannot stand that my gold and arcane dust levels end with "5" as well. As for the dust level I can easily disenchant a common card to "correct" the non-existing problem, but for the gold level it is more difficult. I would have to play Arena or Heroic Duels and hope for an uneven amount of "5" gold to be rewarded at the end.

    I DID IT! OMG I am so happy! I was in love with Demonic Illidan since the very first time it was revealed, almost two years ago.

    Moreover, I feel like Illidan Stormrage isn't that great, so I am very happy to have this huge upgrade in the cosmetic section.

    NebuchadnezzarHS - So, the one you see below is my situation

    Here are a couple notes about my personal tastes:

    • Shan'do Malfurion looks sick but... there aren't Druid decks I love at the moment.
    • [Hearthstone Card (Wanderer
    • Rexxar) Not Found] is probably my least favorite 1k skin, so it's not a top priority at all. Big Secret Hunter is intriguing though.
    • Fire Mage Jaina is so cool, and I do own [Hearthstone Card (Mordresh, Fire-eye) Not Found] - doable!
    • Warchief Thrall - see Jaina.

    In the end, I think it's going to be either Mage or Shaman, given that both classes see competitive play and I am close to hitting the 1000 wins goal with both.

    Lightforged Uther is another incredibly sick skin (despite that strange, robotic, tubular armguard in the bottom right corner), but 540 wins are a lot...

    I'm closing 2021 with these standings:

    That's all in all +447 wins since my last post about 4 months ago. I took a break of a little more than a month trying out FIFA Ultimate Team (don't do that, trust me) and it shows. The biggest progress has been made with Priest (+155) since Shadowpriest got me to legend no less than three times. Warrior is still closest to the next 500 wins portrait but I tend to lose interest in a deck that proves to be really OP like Wild QL Pirate Warrior. So yeah, maybe I'll continue pushing Priest as long as I enjoy it or switch over to Druid which I found a very cool deck for yesterday. Feels good to know that 4 classes are within 150 wins to the golden portrait with Demon Hunter close behind at 162 missing. Good luck to you all and don't forget to have fun ;-) 

  • Aaaand... all my intentions were betrayed. Deathrattle Hunter is one hell of a drug and I grinder around 100 wins with Hunter.

    I also played some Thief Rogue in order to complete all the class achievements (not that it really matters, since I already hit 1000 wins).

  • My last post in this thread was 1.5 years ago, and a lot has changed: I reached 1,000 wins in 3 classes (and got that long coveted Shadow Gul'dan portrait for Warlock). The ironic thing about that is I have been using the Tamsin "Triumphant" portrait exclusively since United in Stormwind a) for flavor and b) because it's a pretty cool piece of art too!

    Here are my class tallies as of today:

    DH: 565 wins

    Druid: 508 wins (my newest golden hero)

    Hunter: 1,019 wins (still rocking Sylvanas, the only non-rewards track portrait I have ever bought)

    Mage: 725 wins

    Paladin: 1,196 wins

    Priest: 463 wins (the last non-golden hero. I am thinking I will try and grind a minimum of 10 wins a month unless Priest is meta again and if I am lucky enough to have the right cards)

    Rogue: 707 wins

    Shaman: 883 wins

    Warlock: 1,086 wins

    Warrior: 606 wins (Pirate Quest Warrior in standard and wild has been good to this total, haha)

  • It's been a while, but I finally got my fifth golden hero! Shaman now joins Warrior, Hunter, Paladin, and Demon Hunter as my golden classes. The golden Thrall isn't really my favorite, but it's fine I guess. I've been having a blast playing Shaman recently, though I've had to toil away for the last 20 wins because Rogue is just choking out all other archetypes (my Quest Shaman just doesn't stand a chance against Poison Rogues). But I still found some wins here and there to reach 500. And how fitting is it that the opponent I beat for that 500th win is named Gold??? If that doesn't make you believe in destiny, I don't know what will. 

    My next goal will probably be Warlock and Priest, since they're the ones closest to 500. Mage, as usual, remains in a pitiful state. I just don't like the class and all its shenanigans. Let's see what the nerfs will be, hopefully they'll make Deathrattle Priest a little more viable!

    As far as the original 9 classes goes, I only have left to work on Druid (780) and Mage (968) - and of course, Demon Hunter ... far behind, with 143 wins on record. I have to be patient for this one and remember that it took me since Naxx to get almost all the OG's to the 1000 marks - it'll take some time too to gring DH to 500 & 1000.

  • So, I finally got Warrior as my first class above 1500 wins in preparation to auto-receive the next tier hero portrait which surely will be added next rotation, I think.

    I only have 3 Gameplay achievements active in total, which are probably the most difficult ones left to complete:

    • YoggChamp (0/1)
    • I'll Be Taking That One! (0/3)
    • It'll Be Done In No Time! (32/500)

    How are you all progressing so far? 🌞

  • Third golden class completed this year :))) Beast Druid, Shadowburst Priest and Pirate Rogue did the job. It's a bit funny since Warrior has been close for ages, but playing Questline Pirate Warrior just isn't fun for me. 

    BIG disappointment for me: I didn't get the ingame pop up for 500 wins but had to claim the achievement in the menu. This is sad for me because I used to take screenshots, print them and add them to my HS wall of fame. :( 

    Maybe I'll go for Demon Hunter next or I'll dig up a good Warrior list that isn't QL Pirate. 

  • Update: I've reached out to Celestalon on twitter about the reward pop up and got an answer! He said it's a known issue they want to resolve soon. So if you're close to reaching a class treshold and care for those pop ups like I do, you might want to wait a bit.

          Edit: I will use this space to tell I am getting close with Mage Dh and Priest for the 500 wins. Shaman already over 600 as I love murlocs and could not stop after 500 lol

    Which I won't be using, because (to paraphrase John Mulaney) Sylvanas is a war criminal, and I like her so much.

  • Reached 1.500 wins with Hunter yesterday, the first class to come that far. I think this is a good time for Blizzard to introduce new Hero Power frames for 1.500, 2.000 and 3.000 wins. :P

    Trying to give DH the last 95 wins for golden Illidan now, which is kinda hard in Wild. Still not liking Shaman as a whole. Maybe 1.000 wins Gul'dan next?

  • I was just doing some files clean-up on my desktop when I realized that I haven't posted about my most recent milestones when it did happened, so here's a belated update:

    Early in June, I have finally completed Mage's 1k wins portrait !! 


    I've now only have Druid remaining from the OG 9 classes, and of course Demon Hunter, still dragging behind with barely 150 wins on records, but I'll be working on that in the next little bit. Druid now sitting at 839 wins and currently having a blast with the new cards, so this one is kind of an effortless grind, as it simply implies playing the game ^^

  • It has been awhile since my last update. I am still 710 wins away to have all 10 classes at 1500 or more wins. No easy task because the meta is currently not favoring most of my remaining classes left to complete.

    It would be very nice to achieve this feat before the upcoming introduction of the Death Knight class with the next expansion which is kinda sorta unofficially confirmed by a reliable source.

    Surely this time they will add another total wins milestone/tier to each class. Last time this happened was when the Demon Hunter class got introduced, if I remember correctly.

        As you can see down below, I have completed all of the gameplay achievements which include the previously mentioned ones. Most of the other achievement categories are also quite close to becoming 100% completed, except for game modes because I do not really play Arena, Battlegrounds nor Duels at all.

        By the way, I hope the new milestone will be set to 1500. If it becomes 2000 instead, I might get spooked and I will probably abandon the mission. To reach 2000 wins seems too overwhelming, even for a highly engaged player like me. 

  • I ve got mixed feelings about the new milestone XDD I just got almost every class to 1000 wins, only missing druid and DH, it was a looong journey and now maybe they are expanding the limit XD i cant feel rested

    By the other hand its nice to have new things to do in HS, folks you thinks the new milestone will be 1500? Or more? Maybe 2000... im so afraid

  • So the original goalpost was 500 wins, then 1000. Is Team 5 incrementing (1500) or doubling (2000) with the next goalpost. Feels like many of the achievements are doubling (do 30/60/90 damage with X card), so I think we might be looking at 2000. 

    I have 3 classes above 1500 already, Rogue, Mage, and Paladin. Paladin is at 1905 - somehow I didn't notice that I was a Paladin main? Not sure how I feel about that.

      You are probably right, although the last example you used is not doubling but incremental instead 😇

      They have done both in the past, so either can happen. Even not changing anything could also be an outcome, because it would mean adding more free cosmetics. Giving out points while the previous milestones did not is not really an incentive and thus seems illogical. Perhaps it might finally be diamond hero portrait borders? We will see what happens, soon™. 

      • Thanks for checking my math, Neb! While achievement hunting today, I found examples of both doubling and incrementing, so there really is no pattern to follow. 

        Anything or nothing could happen at any time. C'est la vie. 

  • Step one has been completed, all 9 OG classes are at 1500 wins or above. Only 385 more wins are needed for Demon Hunter to finish the mission. Hopefully the current Standard (or Duels) meta is kind for accomplishing this feat easily with either Fel or Relic Demon Hunter.

    Small rant, the last stint for Druid was truly an utter miserable experience. Both Aggro and Ramp Druid are performing really terrible after the recent nerf patch. I had to rely on Combo Druid in Classic to finally make it happen.

    By the way, does anyone know whether a win in Duels with Vanndar Stormpike count towards the total wins of Demon Hunter? Presumably not, but otherwise it would help me out just a tiny little bit.

        Thanks! I have found the decklist you mentioned and will try it out next season to reach Diamond 5 again. However, I am not really looking forward to play Wild, because of all those Big Priests, Quest Mages and Pillager Rogues.

        As much as I loathe the existence of Theotar, the Mad Duke in Standard, he is a necessary evil to combat those dumb/annoying combo decks in Wild.

        I really wonder if Team 5 will release another relic card for Demon Hunter in the upcoming mini-set. It would probably break the meta since the current relic package is already performing quite decent. Then again, my mission which I have chosen to accept would suddenly become a lot more possible though 😂

  • Looks like this is the year to reap all those achievements for me :D Since my last post I managed to get Garrosh over the treshold with the help of Enrage Warrior and just yesterday Illidan joined the gang - the fifth (!) golden portrait in 2022. I don't have much hope for my Shaman progress but maybe I'll spam some Murlocs every now and then. Other than that I'm not sure where to go next. Mage might be an option as the Secret archetype is viable again and there's hope we'll get another goal line added with the next expansion, maybe at 1.500 wins? (No evidence whatsoever on this, but there are some clues they'll add a Death Knight class and we got the 1.000 wins portraits when Demon Hunter was added)

  • Today, the Demon Hunter wins grind is finally over. It was a long and tedious journey, but lucky for me also a relatively easy one because Relic Demon Hunter is currently quite impressive in Duels.

    At this moment I am really clueless about which new artificial achievement will keep me interested in this game. For sure, it is not going to be grinding towards 2000 wins with all classes. 

    Perhaps the upcoming new Death Knight class might hold all the answers to this small "problem" of mine 😇

  • So, apparently we absolutely got the first part right with the introduction of the latest Death Knight class. However, the second part of getting a new tier of either 1500 or 2000 wins per class, not so much. At least, I did not find any evidence to support this assumed feature in the 25.0 patch just yet.

    I guess grinding the new DK class to 500 and 1000 wins will be my main objectives starting December 6th.

  • It's been a long while since the last time I posted here: not because I gave up on the grind, but rather because I had never found the right occasion to take a screenshot and upload it here!

    With this being said, I made HUGE progresses, to the pointe where I only miss two classes before having all 1k skins.

    To be more precise, Warrior and Warlock are the last ones, with both missing around 200 wins.

    However, I think they will have to wait a little longer, since starting from December 6th I will flood ladder with Death Knight!

  • Still can't believe that you all predicted DK with great accuracy! The new milestones were unfortunately not as expected, but there is still 2 new portraits to obtain and therefore, we are back on the grind! I does feel like it will take for ever to get 500 and a 1000 wins with DK, but mind you, it took me years to get all the other class to where they are at, so it will also take time to complete DH & DK.

    As for updating about my progress, I'm still working on Druid - closing in on the last 100 wins - and DH is now getting close to 200 wins! And .. oh well, I'm like 5 wins into DK's journey so lets not focus on this one just yet!

  • Some nice even numbers in Paladin, Rogue and Warlock to end the year with. And what a year it was with so many thresholds crossed plus the addition of Death Knight. I wonder how far I could have come if not for most of my game time being taken up by another game for more than half a year.

    New year's resolution: reach Wild legend with Shaman, get Shaman to 500, get Warlock to 1.000.

      Reach 1000 wins (and beyond) with the Death Knight class to get my hands on that menacing Arthas, Kingslayer hero portrait. Still a very long way to go since I have recorded a mere 158 wins with Darion Mograine so far. In anticipation of another still to be added Death Knight hero portrait, I have not claimed the level 100 free reward yet of the March of the Lich King rewards track.

      I am currently having a blast with XL Blood Death Knight in ranked Wild because it outlasts most aggro decks. It can even deal with annoying Big Priests and Secret Mages. Pirate Warriors are definitely a struggle though. The deck needs extra card draw, which will likely be added to the DK class in the future.

  • After a long time, I can finally greet a new member to my 500w group - Illidan Stormrage! He is my 7th hero to hit 500 wins, 4 more to go.

    Funny enough, I manage to also hit 900 wins with Mage and 300 wins with Rogue (of course I HAD to even the numbers up) and the total of wins end up being 7770 heh :)

    My next candidates are Mage and Paladin aiming for 1000 wins, which I hope will be sooner than later. Good luck for your climb all!

  • I'll use the occasion of reaching 1.000 wins with Warlock for posting my first update of the year. The now nerfed Wild Discolock helped me over the treshold after having grinded 140 wins in 11 days which was quite an unhealthy thing to do.

    That's also already the second tick on my new year's resolutions after having hit Wild legend with Shaman in January. Only the 500 wins with Shaman left, but I just don't get along with that class. Maybe I'll just focus on achieving one win per day or something. Other than that I have no current objectives. I'd really like to get the 1.000 wins portraits for Rogue and Demon Hunter, but both still have a long way to go so I just play whatever I feel like.

    Edit: Holy mother of Yogg. If I assume the average game takes 6 minutes and that I have an all time win rate of 50%, I end up having played ranked Hearthstone for 67,3 whole days of my life. That's... pretty crazy.

    (8075 ranked wins * 6 minutes * 2 [50% win rate] = 96900 minutes = 1615 hours = 67,3 days)

  • It has been awhile since my last post and I forgot to share my 500 wins with the Death Knight class, but I guess 666 DK wins will do just fine instead. I expect to reach the next major DK milestone, by playing casual duels mostly, probably somewhere during autumn later this year.

    I am curious to know how your 2023 grind has been so far?

      I'm currently focussing on Rogue, DK and DH (in that order). The first two will probably get done some time this year, but as much as I love 1.000 wins Illidan, collecting those wins is just a massive pain. I can't seem to find a DH deck that is good in Wild and fun to play (I just don't get along with Questline DH)... maybe the long anticipated Wild update will help.

  • Since it is still summertime, getting a 1000 Death Knight wins happened way sooner than I previously anticipated. I guess messing around with Plague DK in Duels was just too much fun! 😅

    The next new class (likely Monk) is not due for at least another year, so what is going to be my following challenge in Hearthstone, I wonder? Suggestions perhaps, anyone?

    I'm sure you've worked your way through the various Achievements, so maybe you'd like to invent a few for yourself. For example, there were a couple years (not recently, and not Heroic) where I would win the Tavern Brawl with every class. Taught me some interesting lessons. 

    Perhaps you'd like to play every card in your collection at least once? Give them all a chance to shine!

      Since I am an achievement hunter myself, most of them have already been completed by me. Currently, I am doing the Restless Reader achievement coz it has finally been fixed.

      Afterwards, I will most likely clear the list of Duels achievements. It seems my only motivation to play Hearthstone nowadays is directly linked to completing achievements.

      EDIT: Restless Reader achievement finally completed, luckily I did not need both of the two still bugged lore books. 

  • So I have been having quite a difficult year so I was not able to play as much as I would like, but I will share my progress with you.

    Still missing Mage and priest since my last post, but was able to reach 500 wins with DH some weeks ago. Also warrior got quite a boost since then as also Rogue and Warlock had wich I had quite behind. Been enjoying Sargeras a lot latelly

  • Finally got all classes golden! Getting Death Knight to 500 in less than a year is something I'm a bit proud of.

    Next up I'll give Rogue the last little push and then I'll go back to playing what is the most fun at the given time. I'm still longing for that 1.000 wins DH portrait but the class needs some support first.

  • It took a bit longer than expected, but I did not want to burn myself out grinding Rogue. Very happy to finally get this one, Pirate Rogue got me to legend no less than 6 times already!

  • 2023 has been quite a successful year for my Hearthstone progression! I’ve started out with the goal of reaching Wild legend with Shaman as well as reaching 500 Shaman and 1.000 Warlock wins. Looks like these resolutions were a little lowly aimed because they had been reached already as early as Mai.
    Other memorable achievements include (in no particular order):
    - reaching Wild legend with every class
    - getting DK to 500 wins less than a year after the class was added to the game
    - getting triple legend (Classic, Standard, Wild)
    - reaching my highest ever rank to this day, 339 in Wild
    - reaching Wild legend every month for a whole year
    - finally getting that 1.000 wins portrait for Rogue which is meaningful because Pirate Rogue is the deck I’ve achieved the most legend climbs with so far

    Money-wise, 2023 has been the second most expensive year for me. Something I absolutely don’t regret is getting the diamond Helya bundle, Plagues are fucking awesome! I’ve also crafted my very first golden decks ever in 2023, Standard Undead Priest and Wild Pirate Rogue.

    Regarding Hearthstone resolutions for 2024, I only want to push Demon Hunter, Paladin and Priest over the 1.000 wins threshold - something that shouldn’t be too hard considering this year’s progress. Other than that, I might try to improve my best rank, but that depends on me finding a deck that really clicks with me. Finally, I’m omega hyped for Hearthstone’s 10th anniversary and hoping for some amazing birthday stuff the devs might be cooking up for us :-))

    • Wow anchorm4n, that is some mighty impressive statistics keeping of yours! I used to think I was a stats nerd, but this is next level compared to my spreadsheets. Kudos!

      As for my personal goal for 2024 regarding Hearthstone (in its anniversary year), I am still trying to get as close to the maximum percentages for all achievements.

      The last Battlegrounds achievement I have to complete is Spicy Pretzel Mustard and I will need all the luck in the world to do so. 

      Getting four out of the five achievements categories to 100% is almost within reach, but the last one will sadly never reach 100% because I simply do not enjoy playing Arena.

  • I saw that my last post was from a year ago, so I thought to make a little update. Since my last post I´ve managed to hit 1000 wins with Paladin, and this weekend I´ve achieved 1000 wins with Mage too, which is my 5th 1000w hero, yay :)

    Other than that I´ve managed to also hit lvl 100 on the rewards track and chose the new DKs hero - Scourgeborne Arthas:

    My next goal is to get Shaman to 500 and Warrior to 1000 wins.

  • Howdy everyone! I was delighted to see everyone's progress and new milestones ; some completionist of our community are truly dedicated, which I find highly motivating! Keep going, and keep updating us of your progress and achievements! As for myself, I am now entering the last few wins before completing my 1000 win portrait with Druid - now at 970! - and Druid is in a pretty good spot to quickly grind those last 30 wins. Not a huge fan of Aggro Treants, but Dragon Druid is pretty viable too, so at least I got that going. Once I do, I will then have completed all 9 of the original classes! I'm still a long way ahead with DK & DH, but have recently had lots of fun playing Highlander DH, hence completing the leveling to 60 for that class. Some neglectable wins sprinkled across the remaining classes, here and there, but only to finish weekly quest or stuff like that, as I'm really putting all my game time spread between Druid, Demon Hunter and Death Knight. So far so good, it hasn't felt too tedious or monotonous but before it does, I'll sprinkle some more play time with underappreciated archetypes !

  • First update of the year with the first goal for 2024 already in the bag: 1.000 wins with Priest! I would never have gotten there without the introduction of Darkbishop Benedictus, Shadow Priest just really clicks with me :-)

    I've also managed to reach an optional goal for this year in January already by improving my best ever rank by more than 100:

    I will now focus on Demon Hunter as that awesome 1.000 wins portrait is finally coming into reach. If I can keep up my pace from January, I'll get there next month!

  • Next milestone done and boy what a grind it was considering the current state of DH. 

    Here's my current overall standing:

    What's next? A break from grinding. I have decided I'll only play stuff that's really fun for me in the future and went on a dusting spree, killing everything that won't find a home in a cool deck. With the gains, I've started upgrading my favorite decks to golden. Most of them aren't very competitive but I'm fine with that. I think I'll try to fully upgrade a deck for each class that has reached the 1.000 wins treshold, even if it's going to take some time. Current plans:

    Mage - QL Rainbow Mage for the giga flavor - done!
    Hunter - Reno Hunter with Beasts and Secrets - 27k dust to go. I might switch to a pure Beast deck yet, we'll see.
    Warlock - Curse Warlock - 28k dust to go. I've crafted Commander Ulthok for this! :D
    Rogue - Pirate Rogue - done!
    Priest - Shadow Aggro Priest - almost done, I'm only waiting to see if the new Dragon version ("Draggro Priest") will be better / more fun
    DH - QL Il'gynoth DH - almost done but can't be finished because there's a bug preventing people from upgrading cards like Mana Burn (DH Initiate?). Reno Big Demon DH is a good alternative.

  • Been getting quite close with Warrior and Mage here. Again, have not had as much time as I would like to play, but slow and steady does it.

  • Does anyone else feel the need to only play classes that you HAVEN'T completed? I'm over 1000 wins with Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin and Warrior, so I pretty much never play those classes. This feels bad, since I have those sweet portraits, but I want to get every class to 1000, so I focus on the others. I'm pretty close with the other 4 original classes, and still under 600 with both Death Knight and Demon Hunter. I'll get there eventually, but in the meantime, my ladder options keep getting smaller and smaller.

  • I totally feel you there. Sometimes the game makes me play it in ways that aren't much fun or healthy anymore and that's not a very good sign I guess. I'm trying to avoid that kind of behaviour and being aware of the issue certainly is a step in the right direction. Lately I've made some decisions in that regard that should help.

    Lol that paragraph sounds way more serious than I've meant it to be, but the point is: You're not alone! Try to keep in mind that it's a game after all and it's supposed to be fun!

  • Wouldn't you know it, my pack openings included Zilliax Deluxe 3000 (VERY exciting) and 3 Legendaries from classes with which I already have 1000 wins. I guess I'll be trying those out!

  • I feel the exact same way! Warlock & Paladin were my go-to classes back when I first started, 10 years ago ..! And since I've  reached 500 wins with them both, I barely played with my preferred classes. I had a small re-gain of interest when they introduced the 1000 wins portraits, but it was quicly completed, as they also retro-tallied our wins for Brawls & Arena as "ranked wins". I even think I received a portrait or two following that update. Those milestones having been completed a while back, I had barely played any Warlock or Pally since.

    DK & DH are my sole remaining 500w and 1000w portraits to unlock.
    I guess at some point, it'll all be completed and I'll feel free again to pick and chose only base on archetype and playstyle interest, but by then ... we might also have a Monk class to add to the grind?

    I'm in the same boat as Horus, DK and DH's decks have mostly eluded my enjoyment. Rainbow DH is pretty fun currently, though. Maybe by the end of the expansion there'll be another one, two hundred wins tacked onto that number.

    It's wild to think about how much I used to play. Hardstuck F2P Druid and Mage main for years - 2500 of each of those wins are from before 2019. The others have gradually crept up, especially Shaman, but the kings abide! A good 3/5 of these wins are from Arena and Duels, which helped even it out.

    What's your favorite and least favorite 1000 win portraits? Illidan is gorgeous (gimme). Pirate Valeera, on the other hand, is just plain silly.

  • Welcome on board of this thread @Me0203 ! 28 hundreds is an impressive amount of Druid & Mage's ranked wins, and your Shaman one aren't too shabby either!! Even when taken into context, and accounting for the years of leisure time invested in the hobby over time, over a decade, I find our collective records unbelievable! For my first few years of playing HS, I don't think my winrate was even close to 50%, facing opponent with golden potrait was almost psychological warfare and making me second guess each and every play. When I finally attained my first 500wins, it felt amazing and outstanding! It has since then lost some of its glow, but I still treasure these achievements and congratulate each of you for those remarkable exploits!!

I'm including the full template to give some support - Valeera does look kinda Halloween's silly and anyway has better options, and I agree that Illidan is probably what keeps me going - Illidan was my favorite upon reveal! Thrall and Malfurion don't seems much different from their already alternate versions ... My least favorite easily goes to Rexxar for the goofiest face expression...!

  • Happy new year everyone! Time for the big 2024 recap :D

    My Hearthstone year has been just as busy as the previous one with lots of milestones reached and even some surprises on the way:

    • All new year's resolutions done by pushing Demon Hunter, Paladin and Priest over the 1.000 wins threshold!
    • Optional new year's resolution done by improving my best rank: Hit legend on day 1 in September and made it to rank 40 💪
    • Reached 1.000 wins with my favorite class Death Knight shortly before their 2 year anniversary in Hearthstone. 💀
    • Reached 2.000 wins with Hunter which is the entry treshold to Sidisi's Hunter class wins leaderboard. 🏹
    • Literally on the last day of the year I've managed to improve my personal best score in Arena to 11 wins (previously 7)!
    • Kept the streak of reaching legend in Wild every month alive (ongoing since October 2022), got double legend twice and several Wild 11x finishes.

    Class progression:

    Overall very happy with this. 284 less wins than 2023 but I've also reached Platinum in Hades and spent almost all my gaming time in December with Diablo 4.

    Moneys:

    Ouch. Hunting signatures for Showdown in the Badlands was not the best idea I ever had.

    Class leaderboard:

    The general trend of favoring aggro decks won't change any time soon, so I expect Rogue and Priest to keep the top spots. Getting some numbers in here for DH and DK was very cool though!

      Good luck with both your Resolutions! Now I want to gather this kind of data of myself even if I am a decade late.

       

      I would like to reach 350 wins with Death Knight and 500 with Paladin and Priest wich are really close. Also I would like to gather the will to reach legend. Been close but never did the final push

      I guess I could get it with druid too, but it depends on how I feel the class during the year.

      Going really slow here, but making steady progress.
